  1. It's an interesting question tbf. Obviously being biased, JDT is the better appointment! But Kompany strikes me as the sort of bloke with a driven, ambitious, winning mindset. He only retired from playing a couple of years ago and should have taken a hell of a lot away from his time working with Pep. On the face of it, seems like it should be a decent appointment. Can't profess to knowing much about Anderlecht and if two 3rd place finishes are anything to write home about?
  2. It's great to see, in the main, the club awash with positivity over this appointment. I wasn't totally sold on JDT getting the job previously, and of course the proof will be in the pudding BUT he come across really well in his interview and looks like he'll bring some passion and energy to the role. He needs to back that up with results obviously but he's well aware of that by the sounds of it. Taking the positive route on this and now really looking forward to the summer business and the start of the season. 🔵⚪
  3. Pete O'Rourke (although seems to be getting a lot of Rovers stuff wrong these days) Rothwell joining Bournemouth
  4. Yeah, you'd imagine he'll have his pick of Man City loans.
  5. Dingles saying the same thing. "Don't even know who that guy is?" "Everyone knows Kompany, had to Google your bloke"
  6. Sharpe seems to be under the impression he's signed for Boro, just waiting to announce it.
  7. That's the only place Dack could probably play but he isn't going to be chasing down players to same level as Dolan. Gallagher isn't exactly mobile either tbh.
  8. 4-4-2 With the attackers chasing down the ball. Where/how is he going to fit Dack into that?
  9. I see Lowe has managed to cling on. As he's mentioned in the article, I doubt he'll be going anywhere anytime soon.
  10. Welcome JDT. Don't forget, you've gotta do the double over The Dingles this season. No pressure 🤗
  11. Deffo agree with it being a transition season, which sounds defeatist but I think that's how it will end up. Time has been against us as we've taken an ice age to appoint both the DoF and the Head coach. Players are already back in the building and JDT isn't even confirmed yet. We're likely selling BBD as well, which just adds to the problems, certainly if, as usual, the money won't be reinvested (or not much of it anyway)
  12. Just imagine. Opening game of the season, Gallagher lines up on the right wing, Travis as a false 9 😖
  13. Nothing official on Rovers website but SSN reported it's expected to happen within the next 48 hours.
  14. Did we ever find out for certain of their contracts were expiring soon? Do we have any idea who JDT will bring with an assistant or any coaches?
  15. We're into Venky-time now, no reason why a dodgey agency can't strike a last minute deal for Tony Pulis (or similar)
  16. I'm kinda split, half and half. One part of me if excited, a totally different manager than what I was expecting, a world away from the likes of Adkins, Warburton etc. JDT as a manager is totally unknown to me, no idea on his teams style of play or anything like that. Which adds to the excitement. The other part of me is cautious that he brings no experience in English management and not a great deal of management experience overall. It's more of a risk than going for a bread and butter championship manager. Obviously this might not be a bad thing. In any case, I'll be backing him and hope, as we all do, that he is a huge success for us!
  17. Same to be honest. I'll back him for sure but I just get this feeling he's going to struggle.
  18. https://www.foottheball.com/manager-in-focus/who-is-jon-dahl-tomasson-ac-milan-legend-manager-malmo-tactical-analysis-champions-league/amp Couple of concerns in that article: "Predicting the way Tomasson will set out his squad ahead of a game is almost unpredictable. Malmo plays a myriad of formations depending on their opponents but Tomasson always makes sure that they are well spread all over the pitch and utilise the wide areas to the fullest. Even if they are playing with 3 centre-backs, they use their full backs like wingers and their go-to attacking instinct while on the front foot." So Mowbray all.over again, constant tinkering. "Although defensively, their performance hasn’t improved much, they have started scoring more goals under Tomasson and that is the only thing that matters at the end of the day." Sounds like another who doesn't know how to organise a defence.
  19. If he was one of the 3, as reported by Sharpe, then that leaves JDT and Ainsworth? Maybe?
  20. Shame really, Knutsen would have been a really interesting appointment. Wonder who else got a second interview this week?
  21. I assume that's what the DoF football would be here for but, yeah, a concern for sure.
