  1. Exactly the sort of January signing you make when you're pushing for promotion and your club has a modicum of ambition to achieve it. You need to be looking at the league below, not above, when you're talking about Venkys though.
  2. If Sanderson comes in and does well enough for us, it might end up being a better bit of business than it looks right now. Birmingham are very likely going up and they don't want him now in league one, so they won't want him in the championship. Might very well be available for a knockdown fee and you'd think with his existing relationship with JE and his staff (which he's already highlighted as a reason for being here in his first interview) we'd be his first choice destination. Fadz and probably Batth will be off in the summer, so we'll be in need of a CB anyway. Of course the flip side is that he comes in, does badly but signs in the summer anyway but that's a bit pessimistic 😂
  3. Honestly, I didn't know either. Felt like I'd heard the name but had to Google it. He's only made 2 appearances for Brum in the league, so can only ly assume he's been replaced by better. JE knows him from his time at Brum though, so can only assume JE has had a say in this.
  4. Dion Sanderson it is, straight outta left field.
  5. Sadly for Dom Sams, he's unavailable for Ebbsfleet at the mo with a broken leg. So, Welcome back Doms!
  6. That just backs up my point even further? 🤷‍♂️ How can we build a squad if we just reinvest the largest financial windfall we've had in our history in players like Batth, Fadz, Forshaw and Weimann? We're literally throwing money away on incredibly short term signings. Once they all leave in the summer, they will all need replacing in the squad. The cycle repeats. Why haven't we invested some of this money in players who are younger, signed on longer term contracts, with room to improve? They can then be sold on in a few years for good profit and that money goes back into the squad and a much, much better cycle is formed that we can continue with for the benefit of Blackburn Rovers football club.
  7. Why are we signing players "just for cover" when we've raked in £40m in transfer fees in the last 18months? Where is the squad building or the "Brentford model" we were led to believe was happening here? Forshaw - 33 Batth- 34 Weimann - 33 McFadzean- 38 Some serious long term planning going on with half of our signings.
  8. I mean, I think I'd rather we just stuck with Buckley/Garrett/JRC rather than wasting money on Forshaw.
  9. Plymouth spend £2m on a player and we sign their unwanted cast offs. I thought we were "going for promotion" and they were fighting relegation Very much feels like it's the other way around right now.
  10. What the actual fuck? We've got Weimann for the aging pro role, we don't need this guy as we. Absolute desperation. Fuck off Venkys.
  11. Jonjo Shelvey (mentioned a few pages back) joining our dearest neighbours apparently.
  12. Yeah, it's not a great choice of words on his part. Both of those players are likely to be in the championship by the end of the window, so not sure how either are too good for us. Likely to be out of our reach financially but maybe he's not allowed to mention that due to the circa £40m influx of cash we've had.
  13. Strange comments from JE but I imagine he's referring to Schlupp and Kent. Schlupp is still a PL player on big bucks and Kent probably expects high wages as well.
  14. Looks like they sold a player in the summer to Coventry for about £5m but ya know, they can't reinvest that money because they only get the cash in installments 🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️
  15. Was mentioned a couple of times but looks like we can forget it now.
  16. Our favourite twitter itk is on it again.
  17. Did well at Hull last year by all accounts. I don't think he was as bad as people made out, the Sheff Utd mistake ended him in a lot of people's eyes.
  18. He needs regular game time, hopefully he gets that if he goes. It obviously leaves us short but what else is new?
  19. How did his loan go? I think he joined on a month's loan initially and then it was extended through to Jan.
  20. As someone said earlier in the thread. What's the point in the fans spending hard earned money to buy season tickets, when we know that even if there is a glimmer of hope of actually doing something in this fucking league for a change, they just actively sabotage it.
  21. Fair enough, I didn't know that.
