Unless Root and Stokes score runs England will always struggle, especially away from home. The rest manage the odd good score but can't do it consistently or just aren't good enough . Some of them have poor techniques which doesn't get found out at county level and is an indictment of the domestic game. I mean Sibley - most decent club batsmen have a better technique than him Batting has been a problem for England for years, since Cook, Trott, Bell, Pietersen, Flintoff and Vaughan et al were in their pomp. The cupboard looks bare too.

All managers are a gamble to some extent but it's odd that they were shown the door at Huddersfield so soon. What was the reason? And if they are so highly regarded why have been out of work for the past 8 months? My biggest regret is that the likes of McCarthy, Warnock, Pearson and Allardyce have all been available over the past 12 months or so. I'd have welcomed any of them to the club.
