  1. Americanisms are a blight on the British English language and need to be resisted. Lawmakers instead of politicians or legislators is one that has become widely used in the media. Skedule instead of the correct schedule in the spoken word drives me nuts and the Oxford comma has crept into written language, and is very annoying (see what I did there?) And don’t anyone dare use train station instead of railway station
  2. Would Ainsworth get a mention if he wasn't a Blackburn lad? I don't think he would
  3. I know what you mean TS. I was world class every time playing in the back garden On Brereton, he very much relies on confidence, A while ago he was in good form and playing well but at the moment he looks shot. I'd like to see him what he can do under a better coach and manager because he has alot of attributes, although he is unlikely ever to be a prolific scorer
  4. Brereton's confidence has gone. Today he was snatching at shots, mistiming runs, holding the ball when he should pass, laying it off when he should keep it and miscontrolling the ball all the time. It's a shame because earlier in the season he was playing well and finally looking like a good player in the making. I think there's a good player in there somewhere but at the moment he's a liability
  5. You have to wonder how Mowbray is able to sit at home with a clear conscience tonight. Surely anyone with an ounce of their own self-worth and pride would look at themselves in the mirror and admit that they are failing in their job and can no longer justify picking up their very high wages.
  6. Trolling, and if it's not trolling, it's tripe. The lads at QEGS are from ordinary, backgrounds, most of them so-called "working class".
  7. In any other club Mowbray's position would be untenable. It's getting silly now
  8. Nine managers out of 10 in Mowbray's current situation would resign - without a doubt Nine clubs of 10 with a proactive board would have sacked the manager by now
  9. Seven points out of 39. Losing to the rock bottom club. Not tested their keeper this half. On and on we bumble
  10. If anything we're worse this half than the first dire 45.
  11. Gallagher back on the right wing. That usually works well
  12. Brereton has concrete in his boots instead of feet
  13. "Prod" said "I was knocking on the door of the school choir" in a singing test. Fortunately I was never called up. Imagine having to sing instead of play footy at lunch times?
  14. It isn't. It's average, with an average manager I've been watching England for 60 years. England always fail https://www.theguardian.com/books/2009/aug/09/why-england-lose-simon-kuper
  15. Didn't do us much good at Euro 96 - another one we "should" have won but screwed up again
  16. An invitation to lose money. Do the opposite
  17. Why are England favourites and who made them favourites? We've reached one (and won) major final in our entire history. England will and always will be favourites to fail
  18. England finish just 8 short thanks a brilliant effort by Sam Curran. Another series loss though
  19. Are we managing to keep Albania out?
  20. England made a hash of it at 223-7 but it's not impossible from here at a little over a run a ball Just need to play sensibly with proper cricket shots. No need to take risks
  21. Jerasulem's a bit cliched and was done to death in Chariots of Fire and similar, but I'd accept it I'd much prefer Land of Hope and Glory...... it's upbeat and rousing and the words would annoy the other home countries, and the rest of the world. It'd even beat the Russian national anthem, which is my favourite of all Anything other than our present dirge
  22. Elgar's Land of Hope and Glory is far superior to the dirgy GSTQ, more upbeat and a better celebration of "Englishness". Elgar was a football fan too - a Wolves supporter - which makes it perfect for the England football team
