  1. Hmm, there's one name on there who made a provocative and unnecessary post recently
  2. Defence is spelt with a "c". Agree with your post though - as it stands it's been a poor summer window, one that with the right signings could have been transformational for our ambitions next season. The activity thus far indicates Mowbray is happy to tread water in mid table
  3. So it's likely our defence is going to line up much the same as last season. Einstein once described crazy behaviour as "doing the same thing in the exact same way while expecting different results." Mowbray thinks he knows better than Einstein
  4. I would never use it. It looks and sounds American. Anyway, back to the non-existent transfers....
  5. Style note: "In attack" - British English please. Offensively is American.
  6. Mowbray will be cautious as ever for the first game This is my predicted starting line up Lieutweiler Bennett Lenihan Mulgrew Bell Smallwood Evans Johnson Downing Dack Graham
  7. Just looking at Leutweiler's stats he's aged 30. He's not going to improve at that age, he really needs to be let go
  8. Leutweiler is 6ft 5in and he's a downgrade on Raya.
  9. Lieutweiler, Bennett, Evans and/or Smallwood, Mulgrew and/or Williams will start. We haven't won on the opening day since Adam were a lad. 1-1.
  10. I'm the last one to defend the Mail but if you're insinuating there's a racist undertone to the slant on the stories I think you're wrong.
  11. There is no difference - just a different angle on the same theme, that of young footballers with too much money
  12. Where does it mention his race? The story is a fine illustration of the excesses at the top end of football whereby a young player, one who has never even played first team football, has at the age of 20 riches that most people can only dream about. I'm sure I'm not the only one who finds it wrong and abhorrent and one of the many reasons older fans are turning away from football.
  13. At Man City, had fractured ankle and out for 13 weeks with hamstring, among a host of minor injuries
  14. Rather like the 1995 title winning team Football is essentially a simple game which Mowbray is trying to make far too complicated. Guardiola he ain't It starts by having a solid goalkeeper and defence.
  15. Hope over experience. Some lads are unfortunately very injury prone. Either way, both players are likely to be a waste of wages and squad numbers
  16. Player with history of injuries injured again. Chapman, another player with a history of injuries, is also injured again. Why do we sign them ?
  17. So no strikers and Gallagher / Brereton \ even Graham stuck out wide. More confusion for the players and square pegs in round holes. Mowbray thinks he's some sort of coaching genius. It won't work. Why can't he keep it simple and play players in their correct positions?
  18. John Barton the Wigan pie-eater was the biggest unit I've seen in the Rovers goals - but he was also the worst goalkeeper I've seen too. Seriously, we've had some very fine goalkeepers over the years - Jones, Arnold, Gennoe, Mimms. Bradshaw, Flowers, Friedel to name a few - and we badly need another if we're to have any chance of getting in the top 6. There must be a very good goalkeeper out there without having to resort to has-beens such as Hart and Carson.
  19. I'd rather have Raya than Carson. In fact, I'd rather have Fred Else than Carson. And poor old Fred died 4 years ago
  20. "Blackburn Rovers should make a move for Derby County goalkeeper Scott Carson as they seek a replacement for last season’s number one David Raya who recently joined Championship rivals Brentford." Rovers "should". Carson's agent working very hard touting his man around the inter-web.
  21. Shame for the lad, at the age of 25. Feel sorry for him, thought he was a good player.
  22. I'd be sorry to see Rodwell leaves if he does go. He's one of the few players on the books with any "class" (older fans will know what I mean). It's just something in the way he moves and plays that exudes quality. I always enjoyed watching him in a Rovers shirt
  23. So another "target" missed. With the clock ticking to the new season, the need for a new goalkeeper and defender (s) is becoming urgent. Mowbray needs to back up his words with action and move quickly if he is to retain any credibility
  24. New Zealand's cricketers and supporters were models of sportsmanship and class after the final yesterday - their rugby players and rugby supporters, who are entitled and arrogant, should take note. It was a pity we didn't beat the other lot yesterday instead of NZ - they would never have taken defeat in contentious circumstances in such a good spirit.
