  1. Have to say I haven’t noticed a difference. Irish Cadbury tastes different, creamier. Hershey’s is horrible stuff compared to Cadbury
  2. In other words, playing the game situation and playing proper Test cricket You're right, the other lot will take their time, get their heads down, probably grind out 350 - 400 and build an innings lead that will effectively win the series. This isn't being "boring", or lacking in entertainment, it's a tough unsentimental approach and how this form of the game should be played. Genuine England fans do want us to win and don't care how we achieve it - especially in an Ashes series.
  3. A poor showing by England today. It's been said before but Bairstow needs dropping, Performs when you're on top, but when the chips are down and it really matters he fails. Bairstow, Root and Stokes out for a collective 12 and 283 all out by 4.30pm on the 1st day is not Test cricket as we know and love it. To compound England's woes, Moeen could be out of the match with a groin injury Bazball is on trial. A series defeat is not acceptable
  4. Last 2 proper batters (if you include Bairstow) at the crease..... and it's only 2.50pm on the first day
  5. Par for the course and normal but accepted The BBC's headline is just as bad: "Brooks counter-attack puts England on front foot against Australia" More realistic would be "Brooks leads tentative England recovery after collapse"
  6. Both are in Devon so there it should be cream with jam on top. Prefer the Cornish way personally
  7. Potato cake with a fried egg on top - heaven. Fish from the chippy must have the skin off. Down south they leave it on. Heathens
  8. I Love the Sound of Breaking Glass - Nick Lowe
  9. 1. Chocolate always in fridge. Cadbury's only 2. Diagonally, it's the best thing since sliced bread
  10. Ashes series are defining moments for England cricket captains and coaches - that's how important they are Generally, defeats in HMP have seen coaches being asked to clear their desks.. The two Fletchers, Flowers and Collingwood found that out. We haven't lost an Ashes series at home since 2005. Before then the likes of Denness, Botham, Gower and Gooch all lost their jobs after Ashes defeats. Root lost his job after the last series down there. There's plenty of precedents. Stokes and McCullum should be worried
  11. There's a few on here who know the game
  12. I'll repeat a previous post quoting Simon Wilde in The Times The Manchester weather is not to blame for England's failure in this series The failure is down to Stokes's poor captaincy at Edgbaston and Lord's, reckless batting at times because of Bazball ideology when prudence and caution was required, and McCullum's daft notion that "entertainment is more important than results" - especially in an Ashes series when to true England fans the result is everything and nothing else matters
  13. England have lost 3 out of the last 6 Tests. That's if you call the Ireland match a Test. But it's missing the point. Ollie Robinson was quoted as saying McCullum told the England dressing room after the Edgbaston defeat: "We've made the game what it was. We played all the cricket. If it wasn't for us the Australians wouldn't have ever had a chance to win" This was a game that England that should have won with better captaincy, a little more care and thought and match nous and less hubris (good word Geoff). McCullum doesn't get it: in an Ashes series you don't give them a chance to win - ever
  14. Boycott talks so much sense in that Torygraph piece "It’s called hubris. I looked it up in the Oxford English Dictionary and it says: arrogance, conceit, superiority, and big headedness. Well, they did entertain at Edgbaston but reckless batting cost them the match. So England mauled Australia but lost. How galling is that?” "In the first innings as Lord’s they lost sight of the object, which was to win the Ashes. Winning is paramount. Ask the England supporters whether they prefer us to win the Ashes or play well and lose." To judge from some so-called England "supporters" on this site, they prefer losing
  15. The master. But at "2 runs an over" far too "boring" for the Playstation generation to watch Some folk said Boycott was arrogant but Stokes's arrogance has cost England the Ashes series
  16. Silly statement by someone who's never played it. Try facing a hard 80mph ball
  17. And this is how they celebrated and see us in HMP Australia https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/66287786 And some silly people think it's fine for England to lose in the name of "entertainment" Get real
  18. George Alagiah gone. A great loss to broadcasting and journalism https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/uk-66287212
  19. I don't think Stokes will have learnt much. He's the type who doesn't admit to making mistakes or won't accept criticism of suggestions that he made poor decisions. It's arrogance all right Another thing is Old Trafford was the first draw under Stokes's captaincy and his lack of interest in draws shows again his one-eyed arrogant approach. He was happy to lost the first Test because over 5 Tests he thought we'd win. Well he's been proved wrong - and he should say so. Leeds was good and England got most of it right at Old Trafford but the first 2 Tests were shambolic. The convicts didn't win them - we lost them
  20. "Unforgiveable errors and wrong tactics decided this series, not the Manchester rain" Simon Wilde gets it right in The Times today The failures of Stokes's captaincy at Edgbaston and Lord's highlighted and McCullum's daft notion that "entertainment is more important than results" - especially in an Ashes series when to true England fans the result is everything and nothing else matters
  21. This is such nonsense. I think you will find that most England fans are gutted at not retaking the Ashes and couldn't care less whether they are "entertained" or not. There's nothing entertaining about losing. I assume you apply the same illogical rubbish to supporting Rovers As captain and coach of this disappointing series, Stokes and McCullum carry the can and should consider their positions at the end of the summer
  22. . For England there is nothing bigger than the Ashes (same for the convicts), other series don’t really mattter, and for Stokes to make that statement is both arrogant and wrong. It’s too late now but someone should have explained to him and MCullum that they had the chance to win England cricket fans over for life this summer but as it stands they have well and truly blown it. Bazball as a project faced its biggest test this summer and has been found wanting. It’s a failure
  23. The Ashes have gone owing in part to poor decisions and Stokes says he didn’t make any mistakes. Better cricket brains than him say otherwise. He’s a poor captain and should resign. Well done Stokes on backing his decisions. The wrong ones.
