  1. Lovely player was Waggy. Left foot like a claw, beat a man and cross the ball. Great passer too. Never won an England cap which is a shame considering some of the dross that won multiple caps in the years since he played. Died 10 years ago, aged 70. It's a shock to see him in the youtube video.... this is how I remember him.
  2. Blimey, where do you begin when the whole place needs a shake-up from top to bottom? Rovers as a club needs a reset and nothing will be achieved by tinkering at the edges. In an an ideal Venky-free world and decent funding, I'd start at the source of all the problems and and clear out the entire management team.
  3. Poor Barnsley. They didn't deserve that
  4. Sky commentator: on the disallowed goal ......."the greatest goal at Wembley never to count and the greatest goal celebration never to count" This man is a genius
  5. Barnsley goalkeeper made "one of the greatest saves in the history of Wembley stadium" Sky commentator in hyperbole shock
  6. I worked with some Sheffield Wednesday fans - like many supporters of "big city" clubs they had an over-sized view of their stature and importance and they didn't have a good word to say about Rovers too. On the basis that town clubs (even Yarkshire ones) are generally preferable to city clubs, Barnsley it is.
  7. Brilliant technique with all of those goals, balance, poise, head down, toe down, hit the laces through the ball. Sheer brilliance
  8. Football history goes back alot farther than the "Premiership" It matters BTW, the Premiership doesn't exist any more. It's the Premier League (not EPL)
  9. Domestic League First Division/Premier League Champions (9): 1890–91, 1914–15, 1927–28, 1931–32, 1938–39, 1962–63, 1969–70, 1984–85, 1986–87[99] Runners-up (7): 1889–90, 1894–95, 1901–02, 1904–05, 1908–09, 1911–12, 1985–86 Second Division/Championship Winners (1): 1930–31[99] Runners-up (1): 1953–54 Cups FA Cup Winners (5): 1905–06, 1932–33, 1965–66, 1983–84, 1994–95[99] Runners-up (8): 1892–93, 1896–97, 1906–07, 1967–68, 1984–85, 1985–86, 1988–89, 2008–09 Football League Cup Runners-up (2): 1976–77, 1983–84[99]
  10. I'd hope Rovers fans would do the same - shows they care
  11. Luton Town in the Premier League Looooton chuffing Town. And Bournemouth. And Brentford. And Brighton And some of our "supporters" say we're at our right level and should be thankful Luton I give up
  12. Slot staying so that leaves the PSV job. Eindhoven won’t have the same emotional pull for Tomasson as Feyenoord but the risk is still there. Poor old Spuds. No one wants to manage them.
  13. Ultimately, for Tomasson, I would imagine family will come first and if the chance arises for him to return home, or much nearer to it, he will take it. That's assuming the story of his wife opening a tea and cake shop in Whalley was someone having a bit of fun.
  14. Rovers, like any other club, should always have some idea on who the next manager will be. Managers come and go all the time and are only a bad run of results away from the sack - the Ewood hierarchy should be discussing now who comes next, even in the unlikely event that Tomasson decides to stay
  15. Do you really think Wayne Rooney writes that ?
  16. Souness had well and truly lost the plot by the end of his time at Ewood and should have been sacked before he eventually jumped ship, saving Williams making a hard decision Good manager for us though and gave us some great times... the promotion year, the Uefa Cup run with those 2 unforgettable ties with Celtic and the fantastic day out in Cardiff when we upset the Spurs luvvies In an interview with the LET (??) not that long ago it's clear that he loved his time at Ewood and has a genuine affection for the club. Great football man too - love listening to him on TV and the wireless
  17. Too many games we either rolled over or didn't look interested or gave away soft goals. It happened over and again. Then there were the points lost or thrown away through lack of nous and game management. The likes of Sheff Utd and Luton looked like they'd run through a brick wall to get the job done. Our lot rarely did.
  18. One point is all it needs ..... and it was Rovers who missed out again. Their players weren't much better than ours (if at all) but they had a hunger and desire and sheer guts to get the job done that we clearly did not It's been said many times. We have too many nice lads
  19. The 2 clubs no one wanted.
  20. Good post. Sums up the frustration felt by many when we see clubs that were out of the Football Leaguer and/or on the brink of extinction a few short years ago get within reach of the promised land while we continue to languish under one continuing "project" after another and an Ewood management clearly lacking any vision or dynamism or basic ability to drive the club forward Burnley and Sheff U are good team but overall the Championship has been weak this season and we could'should have been in the top 6 at least. A huge opportuinity missed
  21. Coventry ahead, the 2 teams I didn't want in the final in prospect.
  22. Did you go to Kenilworth Road phil?, because I did - and we were never at the races from the first minute to the last They won easily without really trying
  23. Looton bleeding Town. Looton FFS. At Wembley. In the Championship play-off final. Meanwhile, we're supposed to savour our best season in years, because it's "progress" *Bangs head against wall*
  24. Come on Luton, come on Sunderland What a dilemma, don't want either to win Come on Boro
  25. He's out for the summer - see my previous post
