  1. We shouldnt need to get shut of Cantwell. We are signing players who will be coming on lesser wages, there should be enough scope to tie these players down. Cantwell is an important player.
  2. Last season Cantwell and even Ribeiro usually took them and neither were very good set piece takers.
  3. Until its too late? We know that our current set piece takers are not very good. Theres going to be more height in the team so why not take advantage.
  4. Liverpool are the strongest side and should win the league. Still not convinced by Arteta who is also a knobhead.
  5. A few other Championship clubs played foreign sides at home. No problem with who and where we played. A big problem with the seemingly amateurish preperation and travel simply ill fitting of a supposed Championship side. If true, of course.
  6. I thought we shouldnt read anything into pre season? Although I am not sure they did. But guessing you dont think we should sign a good set piece taker.
  7. Miller is currently injured and has been for a few weeks so that might be a reason. No way will he stick Henriksson straight in either.
  8. I really dont get how showing frustration that Brittain etc should have been offered new deals last year considering that Gestede was here for that time is excluding him from blame. Plus he will be well aware that nothing has changed as we still havent renewed any contracts. Beside extending Ribeiro's strange initial 6 month deal.
  9. Was more pointing out that we dont have a decent taker of set pieces.
  10. I am not overreacting to any game. I didnt watch most of it. De Neve might have taken all of the set pieces at his old club but I havent read that it was a strength of his. If he isnt, then we need to keep looking for a good taker of set pieces as we dont have any.
  11. So the wait is the club? At least we had some hilarious videos from the training camp.
  12. I took what Ismael said as before he himself came to the club. Not a deflection from Gestede. Contract extensions have gone out of the window under him.
  13. Gestede was here last season when Brittain didnt get offered a new deal. And hasnt managed to get any contracts over the line.
  14. What makes you say that they have withdrawn?
  15. I was basing it on you saying 3 including Miller. Then naming yet another squad with 5 new signings. As ever, you move the goalposts and start going off on tangents.
  16. De Neve? Has he ever taken set pieces before? I only saw the first half hour yesterday but he put in one free kick that just went miles over everyone. Weve not had a decent set piece taker for a while. I would prefer Kargbo and Pickering to start down the left. Also, obviously not Montgomery on the right. Going into the season with Hedges starting was grimly predictable.
  17. For me, the lack of transparency is the issue. Im sure there will be nothing groundbreaking but for the club to need so long to approve the minutes suggests some tampering.
  18. Ismael doesnt seem happy about the contract situation.
  19. https://www.scotsman.com/sport/football/hibs/latest-hibs-news/hibs-motivation-at-dundee-revealed-as-david-gray-gives-lewis-miller-transfer-update-after-big-win-5254858 Hibs' manager was asked about Miller. Usual non committal managerial spiel, but he did say that he is still injured. There seems to be some mystery about the injury. First Alan Nixon said 2 months which turned out to be badly wrong. It was reported by Elliott Jackson that he might be able to train this week, which would be ideal because he will almost certainly be first choice so if we could get him starting next weekend or at least in the cup game, then that would have been great. But clearly not. No reporters over here seem to have picked up on the Henriksson story.
  20. Best of a bad bunch but not a set piece taker. We need to try and find one.
  21. It obviously depends on how good they are but signing players permanently is undoubtedly preferable so I would agree on that. You also open the door to selling them at considerable profit in the future and then continuing the process. Thats where we fall down here. I also have said in the past that we had under utilised the foreign markets. For a club like us that are unwilling to spend much money, its makes sense to look further afield. You look at the fees we are paying, they wouldnt even afford the players that Charlton are buying who have adopted a policy of signing many of the stand out players in League 1. So you have to look in places where other people arent looking, as everyone will know domestic players. More risk of signing total duds, but also more potential reward in signing players of which an equivalent domestically would be well out of budget. Those League 1 players are not guaranteed to step up themselves. The key thing though is that we have to accompany these type of players with a core of proven Championship quality players. We have a few of these already in Hyam, Travis and Tronstad in particular and we have to pay the going rate to keep them to give us the foundation of a team where we can then add these potential assets around.
  22. Yeah Beck was certainly better than those 2. He was really good, not only going forward but defensively. His main issue is injury proneness and I dont think he is fit now. The 2 we have now are average Championship standard I would suggest. Not a position we need to look at though. Beck is top end when fit, would be very difficult to get someone as good.
  23. The year when we nearly went down? All I am saying is that there is no point downplaying that some of the players we have lost were important players for us. We have people even implying that Brittain wasnt as good as he was. Most if not all teams will have lost players that were important to them last season.
  24. The right back situation is an important one into next week. West Brom are really strong out wide. We cant be playing Montgomery there. Hes a young midfielder filling in and he will likely get run ragged. Miller seems unlikely to be fit even if hes signed imminently and he looks to be our most likely first choice so Alebiousu should be used there.
