  1. Most of them chances were just half chances though. The Gudjohnsen one and the Kargbo ones I would say are the good chances that carried a reasonable expectation of a goal. We created more than we usually do though but certainly our total absence of players that are naturals in front of goal has and will continue to cause us frustration.
  2. Thats a bit of an exaggeration. I suppose we could literally in that we had more than 5 or 6 chances. But how many were what you would consider to be big chances? Gudjohnsen and Kargbo aside, mainly half chances.
  3. UEFA have "reluctantly" agreed to having a Spanish and Italian match abroad. England will be next.
  4. Yeah, why do people even look at jobs a manager has done previously. Just get a legend from his playing days in. We should get Dunn as manager. Still dont get why the job is ideal for Ferguson or why him being a good player for them is a reason to get him as manager.
  5. And to think after the home defeat to League 1 Bradford, we had one or two saying how we had likely found an upgrade on Travis.
  6. But equally, it wouldnt logically lead you to then giving him the job, especially considering his overall CV, and especially when it is such a big job that surely requires more managerial expertise. Still unclear why being a club legend should be a deciding factor.
  7. Why? His interim period wasnt particularly successsful and his CV beforehand is very non descript. Dont get the logic behind trying to fix things with a "club legend."
  8. We have our excuse why football wont come home in place at least.
  9. If you having a winning philosophy but then your manager parts ways for reasons that arent performance based, surely you dont then appoint someone who has been crap in English football who plays in a way that couldnt be more different. It seems that often talented managers are seen as secondary to people off the field in high positions. Surely out of Nuno and Edu, the latter would be the one seen as dispensable.
  10. Surely what they need is a competent manager. Not some bloke who wouldnt get a sniff without having been a good player there based on his managerial CV, who had a fairly underwhelming spell there last season, purely to try and get fans on side. (Which im not convinced it even would). If your criteria is correct then maybe Gazza will apply.
  11. Why would Ferguson be the right appointment?
  12. You dont have to predict that theyll win every game to be a supporter. Thinking that they might struggle in or not win a game doesnt make you any less of a supporter.
  13. Mercer does come out with plenty of embarassing predictions but I dont see how predicting us to go down is that controversial. Its not difficult to comprehend why we might be one of the favourites to fall. Also, I really dont see what influence McKenna had. The pitch was unplayable regardless of whether he said anything and historically an abandoned game is started from scratch, whether thats fair or not is a seperate argument but the decision expectedly followed that precedent. But even if he did argue for that, we would do the same in that position. Hardly something to become bitter iver.
  14. Any Barnsley fans who are critical of him can only possibly be bitter that he left. The season he had there was excellent, a huge overachievement sandwiched by a 21st and 24th place finish at this level, with League 1 campaigns either side. Also, if hes nearing Kean levels for you then you cant possibly have been following the club when he was here. A ridiculous statement. And im not a fan of his, I dont rate him and I would prefer that he wasnt our manager.
  15. Obviously I cant start rhyming off minutes in games where his positioning was off. And I dont think its a glaring weakness in his game and thats not what I am saying. Its more pointing out a positive that he has that recovery pace whereby his positioning doesnt have to always be perfect. Kyle Walker made a career out of it. I definitely dont think as a team that we are defensively as strong as last season. Thats to be expected considering who we have lost and an inability to fully replace.
  16. I dont think a lack of confidence justifies or explains a lack of effort in any way.
  17. The problem is, such is our terrible start to the season, it feels like we really need to get something. Just cant see it.
  18. The Alebiosu one in particular saved a probable goal. I dont think his positioning is always great but his pace is a really useful tool in making up for that. Compared to last season, it does feel easy to pull us apart in the first place though which is a concern.
  19. Yes I would take a point after 80 but overall its an average result that does little to allieviate our position. Obviously its down to results. I dont get why people (in general, not just you) get so aggy or unwilling to say that they dont think a player looks up to standard. Obviously that might change in time, its not an opinion you habe to stick to. People get really defensive and attribute it wrongly to not backing the players, there is a preciousness about it. If you was talking to your mate, surely youd be able to bring yourself to say x looks like a good player or equally y looks poor. We have our first impressions of players, but some people act as if its a crime to say if a player looks poor.
  20. I think youve maybe not factored in that a % of the new signings will just prove unsuccessful. In your head, I suspect all of the new signings will be successful once they bed in, the results so far are just a bedding in period and we will push on once they have settled. Are there any of the new signings made that you think will turn out to be poor? Just based on first impressions, for example Alebiosu I think we all think will be a good bit of business. Any you think the opposite of? You said its a good point. A point at home to Stoke leaving us still with less points than games played after a favourable opening run of fixtures and with Coventry away heading up some harder games to come, its not enough.
  21. I think if you are being criticised for your performance then youve got more of a justification to give a bit back. If you were criticised for a lack of effort and desire then you havent really got a leg to stand on.
  22. Evidence of our demise example 5000. Celebrating a home draw with Stoke as a good point.
  23. Commenting on here is the equivalent of chatting to people down the pub. Its a safe space to give opinions as we go, positive or negative, game by game. The fans in the ground were simply not on his back today, the whole team was backed throughout even at 1 down. Even if you heard people muttering to the person next to them, thats basically on par with on here/down the pub. If you think the opinions you quoted are wrong, or irrational, then fine. If you think people should totally withold opinion until the player has been here for a period of time, again thats fine, although that only seems to work one way, as if a player starts well, take Alebiosu, you dont get people shutting them down by saying hold off, he might turn out to be rubbish in time. But none of the above means that the players wont be backed in the ground. Im not having that Gudjohnsen hasnt been backed in the ground. The aspect of your opinions that I dont agree with is that he isnt being backed. He is, and even if people criticise him either on here, down the pub or even muttering to the person next to him, thats not the same. Ive never seen the problem with discussing a player no matter how early he is into his time here, good or bad. Its ultimately based on first impressions. Take Miroshita, his performance v Watford in his first start got widespread praise, hes been invisible since. Sometimes a first impression will be wrong, thats fine, but it doesnt mean people shouldnt give them, IMO.
