Derby have started the season even worse than us but they seem to have done some good business and I feel like with the manager they have, once the new players bed in they will soon move up the table. Eustace has obviously had a big say and I find this modern day suggestion that a manager/head coach having a big influence on recruitment is archaic, to be totally ridiculous. He is working with these players. He has been backed and unlike last summer when we needed forwards and he was given the average Ohashi and the awful Gueye. He has been backed with a big money USA striker, dunno what hes like, but also proven Championship quality in Morris and Brereton. You also throw into the mix good quality in like Travis and Johnston, and then a few others to add good quality to the squad around that, a mixture of longer term without prioritising the most important season which is the current one, they look much stronger than last season. Justifies his decision to leave even more. I also find the idea that our window has been about finding superior models as if we have chosen to lose who we have lost to be totally untrue and I would prefer their window.

2 of the direct competition for the wide positions are Kargbo who doesnt appear to be good enough, and De Neve who has looked well off it and already doesnt seem to be fancied by Ismael. We need another winger because quality wise we dont have enough. But theyll see 4 players who can play there and not bother.

Brereton would be a great signing for Derby. No point pretending he wouldnt be our best winger. Whether the Derby Rovers stuff is petulant and bitter or not is one thing. Its just not very funny.

Mowbray seems to think everyones a good bloke. Whereas Suhail is helping to oversee the destruction of the club.

He would develop that talent more on a loan into non league or at least regular football for the under 21s. Not being our sub keeper who doesnt provide suitable cover at this level considering how young and raw he is.

Thank god for that. Here is me thinking that you called for Ismael to be sacked after 7 games. Or that off the back of a small white lie in the media, you have gone from having Eustace as your profile picture such was your adoration of him. On Gudjohnsen, no like you I havent seen him live. I was just passing some comments on the usual information we have, based on his record to date and opinions of the supporters of previous clubs. I have also never seen Morishita for example. Out of the 2, based solely on the same sort of information, I am much more encouraged and excited by his signing. Hopefully they will both prove to be good signings. We need a good striker as Ohashi is ok and Gueye is terrible. On Michalski, you are just arguing for the sake of it because you share my opinion that we need another senior keeper, which suggests that like me, you also share the opinion that such young untested keepers are not ready to be immediate backup to Toth at Championship level. Never once said he doesnt have talent.

Chaddy, you were forever a huge fan of Eustace during his time here. You were (briefly) fuming at the club that he was let down enough to seek alternative employment. Your call to sack Ismael in isolation, fine. But now youve spun to the point where he is better than Eustace and you wont even accept criticism of him. You wont however commit to saying that you feel like he will be a success which is telling. If you think he is better than Eustace who you rated too, then why wont you put it out there that you think Ismael will do a good job? I was skeptical of Eustace at first as results were poor. He did however turn it round to the point where he was doing an excellent job, straight from the start of last season. Yes, Ismael may turn it round, but I have very little confidence that he will. I am happy to say that, knowing that there is a chance (small IMO) that he may make me happily look like a fool and turn it around. But from what I have seen, I am happy to put it out there that I sadly dont think he will. Last week we did well and he deserved praise for how we set up. But its the exception so far with 4 losses around that. I can praise him for one game but think overall that so far this season, its been poor. I consistently praised Eustace last season whilst he was still employed here. I was like you fuming that the club let him down. My opinion is that my gut feeling is that Ismael isnt a good manager. A huge downgrade on Eustace. Do we look well coached? Not particularly. He is here for the duration either way as he was given such a long contract that we cant afford to pay off. Not that I am saying that we should sack him at the moment before you twist it. Obviously you have lost your credibility on the issue considering your huge u-turn.

I am not writing Michalski off. To suggest I am is twisting what I am saying. He shouldnt be expected to be immediate backup at a Championship club at his age and has displayed that he isnt ready for that. You keep saying maybe Ismael is happy with this and that. We dont know but even if he is, any manager isnt beyond question and Ismael certainly isnt.

Im glad that we have signed a striker because it hopefully reduces the chance of Makhtar Gueye getting on the pitch for us. Ohashi also needs some competition, he is ok but nothing special. But im not convinced on paper by the signing. He seems to have had a really poor season for Gent, their fans dont seem fond of him (contrast that to Legia fans gutted to lose Morishita) and his goal record is unremarkable. His season in Denmark at a lesser level and his international record before that do provide some encouragement and he is young. I fear that this will be our last signing but we certainly need more.

Ismael seemed to downplay the possibility of more signings beside Gudjohnsen without ruling it out. Elliott Jackson also seems to be under the impression that it might be just Gudjohnsen if that gets done. Thats a massive concern and leaves us short not of bodies but of certain qualities in a few areas. As mentioned, we badly need another senior goalkeeper. Goes without saying. We definitely need a midfielder. People suggesting that Tavares is an upgrade on Travis are totally wrong. He has shown flashes, was woeful today but seems like one we could develop but I wouldnt bank on him every week. Baradji is injured and Montgomery isnt ready. Browne would have been ideal with Championship experience but it seems with Gestede and Owen playing their own game of football manager, its not important. We also still need some pace across the front line, ideally from wide. We needed some going into the summer and havent got that. Kargbo is the only pacy player and he isnt up to the standard. I would like another striker too and to get rid of Gueye.
