  1. That isnt a constructive reply to suggestions that there are still question marks over how good he is and moreso, whether he is best suited to a role he has limited experience of playing. Playing against recent position doesnt disprove that.
  2. Anderson is a good player but I am not convinced that he is beyond good Premier League standard. He also doesnt play as deep for Forest so it isnt necessarily a position hes most comfortable in. Against poor to awful opposition, thats not been tested at all so far in an England shirt and hes had free reign really. Against better teams, I would wonder how he would fare. I do think that Wharton is more well suited to that role as he plays it every week.
  3. Anderson as the number 6? Wouldnt fancy him at centre back.
  4. Yeah, its a total waste of time trying to judge against such dreadful opposition. One thing I do think is that Tuchel seems happy to try and build the most balanced team, rather than the one with the best players. England's best position is clearly number 10, with Bellingham, Foden and Palmer, and even beyond that, Eze and Rogers. All (or at least the first 4) are better than anyone we can muster up wide left. But Kane is slow and drops off, to get the best out of him we need a quick left winger who can go in behind so its either Gordon or Rashford. No sticking a Foden, a Palmer, even a Grealish there, the main thought is balance. He clearly wants 2 out and out wingers. Same in midfield. Rice has often been wrongly used as a holding midfielder, now hes being balanced off with Anderson. Its the right approach after decades of imbalanced teams but the question is, even if its balanced, how far can a team go with a number of players that are good but nothing special in it, complimenting the stand out players. Expectations in the past have been built on the idea of all of our stand out players on the pitch at the same time. I do think he needs to get in one of our top class number 10s, probably Bellingham, and get Foden, Palmer and Wharton amongst it fighting for the first 11. Just not all of them playing at the same time.
  5. Went to Saudi for the "project."
  6. The matter of public record thing has become the new stakeholders. It was also the reasoning behind believing every word about Suhail's spiel about budgets and spending. If its on public record then it must be 100% true and each word must be taken literally.
  7. Gudjohnsen doesnt seem to be in the Iceland squad tonight and Kargbo wasnt in the Sierra Leone squad last night. So might be 2 down for the weekend.
  8. The pitch was totally waterlogged. Regardless of what McKenna or Ismael wanted. The owners wouldnt pay for the overhaul a few years back due to cost. But yes. Its that nasty McKenna, nothing the club could have done.
  9. The thing is, that £40k investment will appease some, similar to when we failed to do a total overhaul of the pitch but they came out and bigged up that they had stitched the goal areas and again people defended the owners. But the owners were supposed to and eventually blocked the aforementioned overhaul which was needed after 30+ plus years, a few years ago. It would have cost I think £2m and included the pipes underneath. And yet some with the inability to realise that its just a PR attempted spin piece will watch and read similar rubbish to today and swallow it. Its not the clubs fault!
  10. It is. He even acknowledged the age of the pitch on the video and the drainage underneath. The owners refused to do the full pitch overhaul needed the other year. Only the gullible and naive would think it was totally out of the clubs control.
  11. Theyve put up a video of the groundsman defending the club on the official youtube now. Mentioned the old pitch, all the other stuff is immaterial. Thats the issue, the owners wouldnt go through with the promised full pitch revamp a few years ago.
  12. Until he left, you was pretty insistent that he was correct to carry on playing as we was at the time. He was wrong but it seemed to be out of stubborness rather than naivety. He had plans and he had the carpet totally pulled from underneath him, hence why he wanted to resign. His main lesson is to choose his next club based on the owners and board. Dont make the mistake he made here where Venkys totally messed up all of his plans.
  13. He will have to learnt to not take jobs with dreadful owners.
  14. Yeah I dont get why such an appointment would provoke a response of anything but total ambivalence.
  15. Theyll have Wissa back by then. But Osula was meant to be going to the Bundesliga in the summer. No way is he coming here.
  16. You seem quite fixated on this. It will be hard to find someone willing to do the job with absolutely no power with dickhead Suhail calling the shots.
  17. Lets hope Cantwell isnt injured as otherwise we really are in trouble.
  18. Even the idiots who own and run us amidst their desperate attempts to lower standards wouldnt try to proclaim a friendly against Everton to be part of celebrations.
  19. To be fair, the league game is a perfect anniversary game without the amateurish add on. Playing a team with a manager, captain and a few other players who left us directly or indirectly because of how shoddily we are run sums up our 150th anniversary very nicely. I presume the owners will all be turning up to mark the event?
  20. Bit of a difference between being unsure on a few problem positions for an England team in 9 months time, whilst still giving opinions on the players in those positions for the sake of discussion. And actively avoiding any issue that could potentially reflect bad on Rovers for fear of being critical. I would probably say Pickford, James, Stones, Guehi, Livramento, Rice, Wharton, Saka, Bellingham, Gordon, Kane. But im not convinced that will be the case so far in advance.
  21. It isnt a simple question. Its one 9 months in advance where in a number of positions, there is no clear stand out. Gordon's decision making often lets him down in the final third. Rashford will forever have ifs and buts surrounding him.
  22. I dont know who would be at left back, a weak position. Not 100% sure at right back although James seems the strongest choice, but again, made of glass. We need a quick player wide left but not convinced by any option, Gordon is massively overrated and Rashford is not one youd want in the trenches with you. No one has proven at the top level that they are the stand out choice, I like Anderson but would still sway towards Wharton. And Stones would play if he could be relied upon but he cant, so if he isnt fit then Konsa. Bellingham, Kane, Pickford, Guehi, Rice and Saka are clear guaranteed picks.
  23. I dont see how Foden is less versatile than the other 2. Hes played wide probably more than the other 2 and none of the 3 youd particularly fancy deeper but if you was going to choose any, it would be Foden. Regarding the starting 11 for the first game, how can we possibly say, its 9 months away? Hall has not even really established himself fully at Newcastle and he and Stones are constantly injured.
  24. But again at the 48 team world cup, you have most 3rd place teams qualifying so there is absolutely no jeopardy in the group stages. You win one game and are basically through.
  25. On a bigger scale, Chelsea under Abramovic were the same.
