2025 Summer Transfer Thread. 😂
roversfan99 replied to Upside Down's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Deary me, I never said that he isnt ready physically. Im saying that we need to be well covered in case he isnt, in case he needs any spells out, in case his injury problems come back or are exascerbated playing mens football. If he comes in, is of the standard and is physically sustainable, then fantastic, whether we sign someone or not. But we cant just assume he will be. Also, without signing a new contract, we have seen this script before. -

What has happened since is irrelevant to replacing what Dolan provided last season. But I very much doubt that Dolan is just sat around with absolutely no offers or interest. If we signed a winger that had done what Dolan did from another Championship club. Or even one with a fancy exotic name who has provided a similar number of goals and assists in a lesser league. We would be excited. -

Again, you arent reading what I am putting. How is it negative? Thats what I asked. Wharton had long periods of not playing in his first season but he is a freak, a special talent. Raya had 3 seasons where he only played very occasionally and a loan spell before he broke in. And now Buckley has appeared as if he is a success story and hasnt just been a waste of a wage for about 3 or 4 seasons. I know we dont know if he is physically capable. If we dont sign another number 10 (is he even naturally a number 10 anyway?) and he comes in and cant cope physically, then what? He has picked up a number of injuries in youth football so its hardly out of the question, if we dont sign anyone then we are a Cantwell injury away from him having to play game after game and its unfair on him to expect so much. I am not saying never play him. If he shows when he does play (good opportunity in the cup for him initially) that he is ready now, then by all means the shirt is his and he can be really fasttracked. Its not a case of, if we sign someone, he never plays. Equally, even if he is ready, he likely will have a dip at some point. Wharton was taken out for a while. That way, we can do that. I dont feel comfortable putting all our eggs in the Tyjon basket so soon, partially because its unfair on him. Maybe even sign someone that can also play wide (or even deeper) so if Tyjon is ready, then theres scope for both potentially. And I would also like him to actually commit to a new deal (knowing the plan) before we invest this time in him. -

The point is that we have over a considerable period of time failed to recruit successfully to fill the wide positions. So I dont think it will be this easy task that Paul Mani suggested. Dolan is a loss. If Dolan goes above us, he may well come up short. Better players than him have, Brereton, Armstrong etc. But it doesnt mean that their move was the wrong one. They were right to try and better themselves, they experienced football at a higher level, and in a worst case scenario, you fall back down to the same level you were at (with more money in your pocket) having experienced somethig better than just an indefinite stay at a club with no ambition of pushing on and not paying players to a competitive level. -

Its 6 goals and 4 assists more than Hedges so instagram must be a powerful tool. Hedges isnt an average Championship winger, he offers nothing in attack. Dolan does. He is a decent Championship winger, so if he did end up at Bristol City, on a higher wage, that would seem a reasonable move, not worthy of a yawn nor a prediction of being in League 1 in a couple of seasons. That I suspect is a prediction to loosely justify the forced Nyambe comparison. You also seem to think that having absolutely zero ambition is a good thing. Why does he think he is "so much better" than us just because he left at the end of his contract, rejecting one he didnt seem to be sufficient (like many of our players do) and in the meantime giving 100% in every game? -

To be fair, Nixon would make a great con man. This mystery winger was mentioned on here over a week ago. This is a man who is a proper gossip merchant yet this hasnt even developed into a story yet and people are still seemingly asking about it. -

Im sure all of the other players that weve failed to renew were also looking for excessive wages too. Its an assumption, an opinion, and in my opinion a very reasonable one. Unlike, again in my opinion, the suggestion that Dolan has a terrible agent and has an arrogant perception of his ability above his station. -

Our attempts to sign wingers. We clearly do not find it easy. Dolan is a decent Championship winger. -

Cozier Duberry. Kargbo. Dennis. Khadra. Giles. Sigurdsson. Point being, we havent find it easy to recruit in that position and it wont be so easy as he suggests to sign a winger at Dolan's level. Not impossible either -

Why havent any of the wingers we have signed in a number of years done that? Speculation about what he has on his agents desk aside, hes a decent Championship winger, as a starter. If he ends up on a 1 year deal in League 1 then these assumptions and comparisons to Nyambe will be true. He left here because like with many others, he clearly wasnt offered a fair deal reflective of his level. -

That Darren Witcoop is a terrible source, we have been linked with Armstrong before but you would imagine he will go back to Derby if let out. -

Ah yes, the usual. Take my words totally out of context and resort to calling me negative in the absence of anything constructive. You repeatedly conclude based on your own warped reading of what I am saying that we should never play him, bin him off and never bring through graduates. Firstly, sort out his contract situation. Not interested in conversations or spiel about pathways and projects. Is he willing to sign a proper contract or not? If he is, then we can accelerate his progression into the first team. If not, then strongly consider a sale because its no good us giving him game time just to inflate any tribunal fee. Assuming he does sign. We dont know especially physically if he is ready to potentially play regular Championship football. As it stands, one injury to Cantwell and he would have to. He regularly struggled to stay fit for the under 21s. It would be putting him under unfair pressure and we dont know if he could cope with it. So sign another player. Still there would be plenty of scope for game time. If we are playing high pressing football, and with modern day sub rules, we will be getting minutes into 7 or 8 attacking players per game. He would be one of potentially 10, very rare they would all be fit. It would also allow us to play him when we feel appropriate rather than out of necessity. He could play cup games, he could be integrated slowly initially but if he really looks the part at senior level, and we dont know, then he can play lots more. So sort his contract, then drip feed him in without undue pressure whenever we feel best, keeping him around the first team all season. Can you please tell me what is so negative about that plan? -

That is just an overused cliche. He is very young and has had injuries (perhaps part of growing) even playing for the Under 21s. All I propose is adding a player to compete with Cantwell. As it stands, if he is unavailable, we would have to flog Tyjon and dismissing the outdated notion that "hes a young lad, he should be able to play every day", we dont know if he could physically sustain that sort of workload at senior level. He struggled in academy football. Bringing someone in would prevent that and we can use Tyjon when we want to. Theres still scope for plenty of football for him, and he can still earn a place. We ultimately also dont know if he is up to it quality wise yet at Championship level. Well, all the above depends on his future. If he wont commit then it makes little sense to put so much work into developing him. -

Did someone mention Waggott? Notifications on. Makes no difference, the reason for our issues off the pitch remains. -

Agreed. If we are developing him before a likely move next summer, then its essentially a loan. And would we want to loan a player like Tyjon at this stage of his development? No we wouldnt. So it would only be worth it if we knew we had him longer term. Again, contract uncertainty causes massive issues. We need some clarity now on this. The club are probably thinking its a way of driving up any fee at tribunal though. I suspect thats why they gave Finneran minutes too. -

He hasnt travelled on their tour, I think due to fitness concerns. Ismael apparently said at the kit launch that he doesnt like loans. -

And what happens when Cantwell is unavailable if Tyjon is NOT ready? Then we are just left with a big hole in our team. We dont know if he is ready full stop, but especially physically. This is a young lad who has had injury problems at under 21 level, can he sustain consecutive games at senior level? Also, has he got one year left on his deal? Is he actually likely to be our player beyond next summer? Especially with agent Nixon on the case. Wharton was an exceptional talent, but even then, he was in and out at first. We cant expect everyone to be like Wharton, most are not. -

But the issue is, we cant possibly know if he is good enough yet at this level but moreso, is his body capable of playing regular, consecutive games in senior football as it likely will have to. -

roversfan99 replied to Upside Down's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Agreed. Also with Tyjon, if Cantwell misses a few games, even if they think Tyjon is ready ability wise, we have no idea if his body could sustain playing consecutive games at this level. I think I am right in saying hes had injury problems at under 21 level. -

Yep, a mixture of Elliott Jackson's journalism and Ismael's English make it ambigious. We need more than 2 or 3. If it is 2 or 3 then we shouldnt sign another central midfielder.
