  1. Still with Lenihan, Nyambe and Rothwell all having contracts lined up to go with him?
  2. Who are you to tell people what they should and shouldn't want? With the right move, a footballer can really improve the quality of their and their families lives forever. If I was Lenihan and my choices for example was to continue playing regular Championship football or quadruple my wages to be a squad player elsewhere, I'd likely choose the latter.
  3. A quite baffling decision. I love it.
  4. What on earth does "someone who knows what the club means" actually mean? Generic nonsense. For a start, Ainsworth has never worked at Rovers under Venkys so he doesn't know the club works. We should strive for someone to get the best possible results, they will soon get to "know what the club means" and like at any club, the thing that makes people happy is success. You are also throwing random names in of people that you can't possibly know what they would be like as managers or even whether they want to be managers. I can't fathom why any Rovers fan would specifically suggest Ryan Mason for example, it is such a bizarre and random shout. Brainwashing? Behave. You will get certain fans at every club who will refuse to acknowledge anything but the positives, and in extreme cases, will spout the usual spiel about supporting the lads and the usual superfan nonsense. This is not some sort of manipulative ploy by Mowbray as an individual. Thats nonsense and just takes away from genuine criticisms when you are displaying an unwillingness to praise him when he does get something right or does something well. I feel like unfortunately, somewhat understandably due to the way our season has gone and the emotion, this messageboard is full of over the top rubbish (unfavourable comparisons to genuinely awful managers, the thing with Mowbray is that he has been average, never threatening to take us close to the bottom or indeed to the top for very long) and of an unwillingness to credit him even when we win or when he gets something right, the Derby game another good example. If City win the Premier League, does Pep get no credit because he has the highest budget and thus it is expected? The current form also does not prove that it was correct to sack him x years ago either. I was really pissed off when I went to Charlton, not necessarily because of the team selection when it turned out that the absent players were injured, but I didn't like the attitude. But it would have been an irrational, emotional decision to sack him then. Has anything come from the exciting yet cryptic meetings earlier in the season regarding Venkys and their plans?
  5. So why did you specifically mention Mason and Wilcox? Even if it's based on the warped logic that no one was a proven manager before being given a chance somewhere, why those 2 individuals?
  6. The player of the season is a tough one. Brereton has 20 goals but mainly due to injury, he hasn't scored for over 3 months. Then again, Wharton didn't play until I think that Sheffield United game around bonfire night, and Van Hecke didn't establish himself until after that.
  7. It would be a major concern if we went into a season with an expectation of our first choice right back being someone who has never kicked a ball in professional football. When Nyambe goes we must replace him.
  8. Was he? Firstly, the decision to play with 2 false 9's was totally bizarre, totally agree. But was Gallagher good aside from his goal? Not really.
  9. Slamming you? I have not discounted the idea of having a younger manager but obviously it is nigh on impossible to recommend someone using that criteria with nothing to base any recommendations on. Take Cooper; Swansea could be credited for taking the chance on him, Forest appointed someone with 2 successive play off finishes so he had a track record. Also, its all well and good giving one or two examples of younger successful managers and older ones with a recent failure on their CV, but conversely you could name failed younger managers and successful experienced ones. I just firstly don't see what can be gained by ruling out the majority of the potential managerial market. I also don't get the justification for your specific recommendations. It just seems like you are naming people based on playing careers which is something I also suggested in relation to your Lampard based propaganda. Mason has managed I think 7 senior games, what has he possibly done to be specifically recommended by yourself, aside from being a young coach and a former half decent player? Same with Wilcox who has not managed a game. The first thing
  10. I do hope that the above rhetoric on Gallagher is just a case of Mowbray trying to boost Gallagher's confidence because if he was our striker and main goal threat for a season, we would struggle for goals, he certainly does not have being a 20 goal striker or indeed being able to do many of the basics as a striker in his armoury. That being said, maybe it is a hint towards another summer of Venkys pocketing a big sale and reinvesting none of it. The Poveda bit does not warrant such anger either. It is I imagine pretty normal for a manager to not negotiate the exact terms of each incoming signing, he should be judged on the success/failure of the individual players, in Poveda's case, it has not been a good loan albeit with mitigating circumstances.
  11. I commend and applaud this but unfortunately I wouldn't expect anything to come of it. The responses to this are painfully predictable. For a start, people lapped up the letter Venkys "wrote" at the beginning of the year promising a visit, a visit they clearly never intended to follow up on. Should that be allowed to be swept under the carpet? This obsession about them "stumping up the cash" implies a level of ambition that is absent. They don't pump in money to further the club or move it forward, they have no choice but to offset losses like most owners in the league, I do wonder if all other clubs praise their owners for merely not allowing their clubs to go out of business, its such low standards. All the usual problems remain, I personally am not overly bothered by communication, but just want to see the club run normally. There is no plan from above regarding recruitment, it is not normal to allow a bit of investment and then suddenly turn off the taps for years, when in theory you are part way down the path of buying assets, selling for a profit and then reinvesting some of that money and continuing, as it is, we cant do that. The CEO has seemingly no authority, everything still relies on owners who care little to sign things off, you have the delayed meetings in India most summers etc, yet they seemingly hold no interest in rectifying all of these faults.
  12. I dont get this current desperation to get someone who jumps around on the touchline. I couldnt care how animate the manager is, the reason that im currently frustrated watching Rovers is because of the results on the pitch under the current management.
  13. Has anyone received Peterborough tickets via post? I ordered some and also some for the Preston game and the latter have come but the ones for Friday haven't.
  14. Was Steele with the assist.
  15. Just farfetched nonsense to ensure that Mowbray gets no credit for when things go well but the full blame when things go wrong. For a start, we certainly have not reverted back to playing possession football.
  16. This idea that Mowbray's assistant had somehow outranked him and was enforcing a style of play that Mowbray didn't want and led to him sulking is beyond farfetched.
  17. It goes against the whole point of being a football fan or indeed any sports fan if too many wins would result in a reward that would be counterproductive to your enjoyment.
  18. Burnley have had 2 top half finishes including a 7th placed finish that allowed them to play in Europe. Especially considering some of the dire quality matches you see at Championship level, I still cannot fathom why anyone would prefer to be in the Championship.
  19. I am not sure that this is the attitude. The problem is that if he starts and we aren't winning at half time and he gets subbed off, that would provoke a natural feeling of frustration. In theory he is more likely to score in a second half when other players are tiring. I would like to see him start on Friday but I suspect that he won't.
  20. If we went up hed either get a considerable pay rise here or be in a position to get a much better contract elsewhere.
  21. Thats just Mowbrays personality, it doesnt mean that he doesnt care. You could argue that one of Jones' weakness is his inability at times to control his emotions. Many successful managers are reserved and many poor managers are animated. Thats not the issue. Totally agree on not limiting ourselves to a specific age/criteria of manager though. Especially a flawed idea of dynamic.
  22. His objectives? It would make no sense whatsoever for him to want anything other than promotion.
  23. Bell was abysmal for years, Pickering was very good prior to his injury but has not been the same player since coming back into a struggling team. He is definitely an upgrade even if he has been poor lately, he looks particularly off the pace. Bell technically was really poor, Pickering is a lot tighter when the ball comes to him rather than shanking it out of play. Bell also used to allow crossed to come in freely, Pickering's main weakness is his lack of pace, his reading of the game prior to his injury tended to cover that well but lately not so much. He has not really taken set pieces which is a bit surprising considering that Rothwell is not particularly good at them.
  24. As if they would listen.
