  1. You base your theories upon gossip, chinese whispers, cryptic responses to Alan Nixon tweets and now bizarrely a focus on the post match interview of a game about 6 months ago which is fine. But why the next international break? And would results prior to that make any difference?
  2. Not really. And FFP is not a blanket excuse for how they have been operated. Excellent is a very hyperbolic description and this summers extreme stripping back was not necessary to that degree for FFP purposes.
  3. To be honest, im not really interested in guessing at potential conspiracy theories based on snippets of unproven gossip. This isnt the first summer in which our negligent owners have banked in major sales without allowing us enough to be reinvested to stay competitive. Its also not the first time to which we have been regressing and have needed a managerial change that they have seemed ignorant to. I dont think that Venkys had planned to sack Mowbray, got knocked back by a couple of people, so decided to stick with Mowbray albeit with a limited budget. I also dont think that Neil has ever been close to being appointed.
  4. All these theories about Venkys planning to sack him in the past, that budgets have been cut because they dont trust him, that he is on rocky ground etc all seem like unfounded conspiracies to me. I think there is a few people desperate to justify previous predictions of an imminent sacking. If Venkys genuinely dont trust Mowbray, removing any investment is not a constructive method or something that can be justified, it would be counter productive. I don't think that Venkys have a strong enough interest in our football club to have such a strong opinion on Mowbray, but if they do, there is no justifying keeping him on.
  5. I was just trying to understand the exact aim, I am not pouring cold water over it. Is the aim merely to get some transparency, to find out who decides on the managers future, on who is responsible for the inability to get in a striker, to find out how much money we had, who speaks to other teams etc? Just purely to get some questions and keep communication up? Or is it more hostile, is the aim to try and get some or all of the management team out? Press releases, meetings and protests, in which case, shouldn't they be aimed to pressure the owners who can sack these people rather than directly at them? Or is the aim not necessarily to cause them to lose their job but just to feel uncomfortable, and as you say HowieFive0, "squirm?" Shouldn't the targets be those in India? If so, is that even possible?
  6. @RoversClitheroe would you be able to answer my questions please regarding the objective of your plan?
  7. There isnt a game until next Saturday though, aside from a few snippets about the signings, would it be normal for the manager to do an interview in the first week of an international break? You say similar on a continuous basis. A stopped clock and all that...
  8. I would have let Johnson go but to be honest, there is a strong case to get him into the team next Saturday. In these last few games, there has been a whole lot of nothingness in our midfield, Buckley, Clarkson and Rothwell all repeatedly ineffective, with Travis trying (and obviously struggling) to get a grip of the midfield in those games. Johnson would bring some physicality and experience.
  9. Another new one. Seems our new signing Edun is a bit of a deep completions expert.
  10. If that was the case, Mowbray would have long since been sacked.
  11. I am still unclear on the aim. Is it to hold the 4 to account for reasons for their incompetence purely from a transparency point of view, with a view for them to carry on and learn from the mistakes that they have made? And look for solutions working with them? Is it to hold them responsible with a view that they all resign? Which wouldnt happen surely. Or is it with a view to hold them responsible to the point whereby the fact that they are not doing a good enough job is highlighted, which id agree with, in which case surely the owners should be the target? The issue is in India. I admire the motivation and passion but just a little confused by the aim and direction.
  12. My main worry aside from Mowbray and his weird tactics is a lack of goals in the team and that a bad run will likely be never too far away, and then its a very young side with little experience. I probably would suggest that as he was clearly under the impression that we was going to buy a striker, that it wasnt a case of him choosing to loan wide men over central strikers. There are certain loans such as Butterworth and maybe Magloire (he has always appeared so far out of his depth but we just needed bodies) that I can understand why we held off with whilst we waited for bodies coming in. Even McBride now may be needed although I doubt it. It is the ones like Vale, Garrett and Pike that are the strangest in that none are close to the first team.
  13. Again, why? Same manager, considerably weaker squad.
  14. Will he play as the number 9? And will Mowbray start getting the best from his team? I am sure there will plenty of Poveda false 9 before the season is out.
  15. So with the same team apart from our main goalscorer and main creator, and with the same manager, you expect potentially a higher finish? (9th to 16th is bar one place higher or equal to last season) Just seems totally unfounded to me.
  16. Everything is back to the owners. What does holding them to account actually mean? What is the end game, getting those 3/4 sacked, or if you are aiming things at them, to leave of their own accord? Surely it is the owners that need holding to account, they are the ones with the power to sack these incompetents. Going to the wrong target and sadly having done many a protest in the past, nothing will change those bastards in India. I get the frustration, we are all pissed off but sadly I am not convinced that what you suggest is constructive or even that you know what your plan is, and that is not a slight on you.
  17. I certainly agree that Mowbray is quite clearly not as bad as Coyle, only those who have been desperate to provoke or cause controversy have suggested otherwise. I think that players like Conway and Graham brought a level of experience and consistently, the former had a really good spell at he start of that season in which he scored a few brilliant goals, and in general, we had much more of a goal threat. I would say that this current squad is better but there are so many question marks. Davenport for example, this is his fourth year and it would be a pleasant but unexpected surprise if he came to the fore. I think Rothwell would be a couple of million max, Travis is the most valuable in that midfield and even he I doubt would have much interest.
  18. To be fair, if we didn't have the 4 loanees, we would struggle to name a full squad in the next game. Magloire is nowhere near good enough and should have been let go permanently, we have been caught short in defence in recent years numerous times so we did need a centre back, especially with Ayala made of glass and Wharton not back anytime soon. If anything, that is good use of the loan market potentially. I do have a frustration over loaning both Khadra and Poveda. I have reservations about Dolan and like one or two others, too much reliance on him would be counter productive because at this stage, I feel like he is not up to the standard required. Dolan would not make the match day squad of a Premier League club, and not everything is about long term. Buckley was really good on the opening day and has been really ineffective since, if the choice is solely rely on Buckley or bring in another player to compete with him, it has to be the latter, although at that point you are just bringing in loanees to make the numbers up based on budgetary reasons which never bodes well. I would agree that we haven't been pro-active enough in loaning out our own prospects. Ones like Butterworth will be needed on the fringes due to our inability to bring forwards in, but ones like McBride, Cirino, Pike, Garrett, Vale etc seem miles off and won't play either way. Too much of it is unknown potential and assumptions at this stage for me personally not to consider it as a rather poor squad. I don't doubt that we have had some terrible squads over the years. You talk about the team that Gallagher scored goals in, that side had far more going forward than this current one does, notably with Graham and also Conway who was having some what of an Indian summer, as well as Emnes who even as a very frustrating player had more of a track record than Poveda/Khadra/Butterworth, and then we had Joao and Marshall for half a season each. We also had some experience in there. I agree that our defence is the strongest point at the moment, the key part of it is a second away from an injury and even with the 2 at the back heading everything away, we have yet to keep a clean sheet. Would you say that any of our players are worth 5m or over?
  19. If the benchmark for our transfer business is wasteful expensive "splurges" then we aren't going to get very far. Although to be fair, there is nowhere near enough evidence in a summer otherwise littered with loans again due to budget restraints that the above policy is indeed in place. Again, a 33 year old on 40kpw simply isnt going to happen. The transfer policy shouldn't be so inflexible either, otherwise any remaining experience within the squad would just be stripped away. I think the current squad is right up there with the very poorest that we have had in recent memory. What players within it warrant excitement or would likely have teams waiting to take them off our hands? I think the quality is sorely lacking.
  20. Obviously the answer is a firm no, but seeing our squad laid out like that shows how weak and threadbare we look, especially in attack. Out of those attacking 6, Poveda on Saturday is the only time that any of 3 of them has made a senior start. Even beyond that, Dolan looks miles away from being a regular Championship player, and Brereton and Gallagher are average. Would there be a case to suggest that our current attack is as weak as it has been in recent memory?
  21. Horrendous window, leaving us with a squad that very much will have to dig deep to stay in the division. Venkys out.
  22. No good being strong and pacey if you have no end product. Plus its not about whose fault it is, he isnt what we need.
  23. A midfielder with 3 career goals?
  24. I don't think that there are enough goals between Gallagher, Brereton, Poveda, Khadra and Dolan to avoid a serious scrap at the bottom. Not many attacks in the league as poor as that.
