  1. So you think aside from one off changes to our recruitment team, which seem to happen far too often but ignoring that. You think that otherwise, there are no issues in how we are run and the timing of our transfers isnt affected by our owners and board, for example meeting well after the season ends often in India to sort the budget?
  2. I specifically said that a trophy makes a more memorable season. Tottenham had a more memorable season than Arsenal and City. It doesnt mean that Ange should then have a guaranteed future at the club and Arteta and Pep shouldnt. But I also dont think that winning thatt trophy automatically wipes out how badly theyve done across the season in terms of whether Ange is the person to take them on. Juande Ramos also won a trophy more than Pochettino and co. Im not sure hes remembered too much anymore.
  3. There is no need to be so defensive. I have never heard of him no, I am just saying that IF he signs, that it would be the second time that Gestede has signed someone that has been relegated from the Belgian league. I didnt pass comment on my opinion of that. Our club is run terribly and more often than not, we are slow, there are often delays getting budgets agreed etc, beyond the usual fact that a big chunk of transfers are done beyond the start of pre season. We were particularly slow last season too. Broughton seemed to be more proactive both in terms of transfers and contract extensions but has now gone. My comments on us being slow was more of a general comment under this terrible ownership and board. You dont have to constantly plead for patience and defend the club constantly, often missing the point, so repeatedly.
  4. Looks like a player who has played some games at left back and has barely ever scored. Rudy doesnt half love a player from a relegated Belgian side if its true.
  5. Read my first paragraph again in the post you quoted to see my answer. Im pretty sure that you are the one in the past who has endorsed teams resting players in cup competitions. But that doesnt mean that Ange has proven that he is the best man to take them forward. Im guessing that you will be hoping for Spurs to get relegated.
  6. I think though that you can consider it as a more sucessful and memorable season even than say Arsenal, as football is about trophies. But equally decide that the overall performance in the season doesnt suggest that a manager has demonstrated that he is the man to take them forward.
  7. But Tottenham year in year out are towards the top of the league, we had just been promoted. Signing Cole in January and Tugay for a fairly small fee cant really be compared the amount of money that Spurs have spent to assemble that squad.
  8. If its becoming a more important of the process then the club is seemingly ill equipped to take advantage due to internal delays and how slow we operate. Its not a tactical choice with the thinking being that we can get more quality. Its purely a case of the owners being unwilling to reinvest money which is why people get so frustrated.
  9. I am well aware that all transfers wont be done by pre season. I am also well aware that the main reason that we as a club are particularly slow in getting transfers done is because of how we are run. We dont have a managerial change or a change in division like numerous other clubs do which will slow down their transfer dealings comparatively. I would be (pleasantly) surprised if we have any deals done by the start of pre season. We should be able to get some deals done by then, not all of our business but a reasonable chunk, but I dont see it happening. But its you that specifies how many you want and expect for pre season who is then the most keen of all to deflect and make excuses when it doesnt happen year after year. Without ever acknowledging the main reason which is us being owned by Venkys and run by imbeciles. You also shout down any others who criticise our slowness as if they are being unreasonable.
  10. Doesnt here unfortunately although even if we did want to be strong in the market of freebies, we would need to act quickly which we dont.
  11. Also @M_B you downplay the importance of speed and downplay the importance of paying fees. If you want the best freebies you have to act fast.
  12. But not even "many millions." You are more likely to find a better player if you pay a million or two say compared to someone on a free. The 2 options arent freebies and big fees. You look through the majority of those released and its because they are not very good, and the ones who are even half decent in this country will be able to demand an above average wage because so many teams will want them.
  13. If we dont have the possibility of paying transfer fees then obviously we massively reduce the quality available to us. There isnt a 100% correlation between cost and quality, but the less you have, the harder it becomes. It isnt a vain point of principle, and to be quite honest there is no excuse not to have money available for fees. Its not about putting timescales on things either, but the sooner players are in, the better. Thats why Ismael is so keen. It gets players a full pre season whereby they not only miss a few games having been signed after the season starts, but you have the majority of your team from the start of an important pre season both fitness wise and in terms of the manager getting his tactical ideas across. You can sign quality early in the window if you are run properly, sadly we arent. That being said, if you dont place any importance at all on when deals are done, then fine. At least it wont lead to you saying you want a certain number in by a certain point yet when that doesnt happen, still going around and dismissing other peoples criticisms contrary to that earlier demand. The fact that it is in anyway a "Gestede show" scares me and the vast majority.
  14. They would, hardly are going to slag him off in public. And they may well have liked him as a man, but it didn't stop them finishing 17th. And if you are basing a manager on whether he is the right man, you base it predominately on the bread and butter of a league campaign.
  15. I know its a game that no one wants to play, but scraping to a 1 goal victory over a team that isnt even all full time players further highlights how we do not have a team that is at the very top. Lets hope we can get another set of favourable fixtures next summer.
  16. But why have such high expectations calling for x and y by pre season? When you factor in those things, and most importantly the terrible way our club is run, surely you would have little to no hope of anything being done by then. Also, speed in getting deals done and making the right signings arent mutually exclusive.
  17. You are just echoing Jackson's article and he is often just a bit of a club spokesperson. Other teams may have changed league or have had delays changing managers etc. We havent been in either bracket yet still almost always operate with delays. That is because of how terribly the club is run. I dont know if it is true that Suhail is in India but if so I bet the budget hasnt even been confirmed. This is a common theme here, our club isnt just in line with the standard, its behind. But its about what you post, the same patterns. If you are so keen to point out that so many transfers are not done for pre season, then why every season do you suggest that we should be getting a certain number when you know it wont happen, before then gaslighting people as if you werent the main one asking for them in the first place? Surely a better stance at the start of the window would be to say that you dont expect anyone in for pre season as many transfers are done afterwards?
  18. The main reason that we are always slow off the mark signing players is because of how the club is run.
  19. The main reason that we are always slow off the mark signing players is because of how the club is run.
  20. The usual pattern. You say early doors that we need x players in by pre season. You genuinely believe that each summer will be different. You then slowly go through each of the same reasons and excuses when that doesnt happen. You highlight other teams that havent done business. You ask which players that have gone elsewhere would have actually been good signings here. You say that Premier League teams are still evaluating their players. You say we shouldnt rush and its all about the quality, and to judge at the end of the window.
  21. Still cant see it happening. I suspect what is fake is us ever paying the fee needed to get him.
  22. Sagnan is seemingly going to Sunderland. Not that we would have ever had serious interest.
  23. Iversen is a good keeper. The other 2 are squad players.
  24. Preston meanwhile have just announced their 4th signing of the window.
