  1. Rothwell at fault there. Talk about mountain to climb. Abysmal start.
  2. Ah yes, you're right. How could I forget. Two of the best goals we've ever seen at Ewood.
  3. I'm still after revenge for that Sean Davis winner at Ewood in 2001. We were robbed that night. Back to tonight, I think we're going to surprise a few and beat this lot. They won't fancy it tonight (I hope). No doubt all the talk on Sky will be 'Fulham this' and 'Fulham that'. Let's go about silencing that.
  4. It's becoming increasingly congested up there. West Ham are throwing their hat in the ring for 4th place, Leicester have got themselves fighting for 5th/6th place every year. Then we have Conte, a proven winner who doesn't mess about. Arsenal are improving too based on recent performances. Newcastle will most likely join the party once they start spending. It all leaves me wondering how far away we are and how much it would take for us to ever get back there. Obviously, I don't mean challenging City and Liverpool. I mean breaking into the top ten and then going on to challenge for a Europa League place. That scenario feels a million miles away right now and the worry is that the top 8 of the Premier League will soon become a closed shop. With every season we waste it becomes tougher to get back to where we used to be. Imagine if we had billionaire owners. Oh, hang on... I can't believe United have let Conte go to Spurs without putting up any sort of fight. They have missed a golden chance, but I'm not complaining. Ole's doing a fine job.
  5. There was something delightful about that second goal from Diaz yesterday. The build up play, the slide rule pass and the assured finish at the end of it. Such moves have been rare from us in recent times. That goal definitely had a 'Fifa 2000' feel about it. I thought it was interesting to hear Kevin Gallacher yesterday, on Co commentary duty, point out a couple of things that he felt Diaz had picked up from the Chile coaching staff in relation to movement and positioning. His exploits with Chile have got him relishing being 'the main man' for Rovers and it shows with how much better he looks now compared to previous seasons. There's a realistic chance of him scoring 20+ league goals this season and that would be remarkable considering he was struggling to hit a ball cleanly 18 months ago.
  6. Phew! Injury time was a difficult listen on the radio. I was expecting us to blow it once again. They hit the post, Kazim Richards missed a big chance. Talk about being on edge. Luckily we hung on this time. It should never have got that close though. Happy to take the 3 points. Let's try and sting Fulham next.
  7. Kazim Richards misses a big chance. I thought that was in. Still holding on for now.
  8. 5 minutes added time. Why do we always have to make it nervy!
  9. Our new Chilean striker is brilliant!! Well worth the £7m we paid for him 😁.
  10. I agree with him, for once. When it comes to that trait, of making those driving runs from midfield and beating defenders, there aren't many in England who can do it better than Rothwell. However, I can't help but feel this is Mowbray's way of generating some interesting in him before January. He doesn't seem overly fussed about keeping Rothwell.
  11. I agree, it does. He's backed himself into a corner on this to such an extent that he can't really voice his true opinion on a managerial situation. That's a poor do for a well known pundit like him. He's usually blunt and direct on other football topics and I like listening to him, but he seems to have a soft spot when it comes to managers. Part of it might be to do with his experience at Valencia, but I think it's also because he played in the era of long serving managers like Fergie and Wenger. He's old school in his approach. His stance has seen him go too far the other way on occasion, when he has advocated certain struggling managers be given more time by referring to how Fergie was given time to get things right at United. He should know more than most how the game has changed since then. Patience is shown rarely by owners in the Premier League these days, meaning there's little chance of seeing those types of long serving managers again.
  12. I saw a clip of that discussion the other day and was surprised to see him mention the fraud. I think the point Neville was trying to make was that he will never call for a manager to be sacked regardless of whether it's his mate or not. He didn't when we had all our issues nor when Arsenal were a mess towards the end of Wenger's reign. It would be interesting to know what Neville really thinks about our owners. In the previous Fan Debate thing they did on Sky, Roy Keane said "You look at some owners and think are they right for that club, should they be there, do they know what they are doing". Neville's immediate response was to say "look at Venky's at Blackburn". United's fans are upset at what is going on there, which is fair enough, but to endure 11 years of embarrassment, as we have and still are doing, is something else altogether.
  13. True. It could be so much more. This is brilliant to watch.
  14. I took the 30 year thing to be a subtle dig at the fans. In his deluded opinion, the fans are unhappy and are complaining because it's not the 90's anymore. It's just insulting and disrespectful. We've had a couple of awful managers under this lot, but even they didn't come out with crap like that. There have been too many contradictions from him to bring up here. However, the following stands out from a few years ago: "this is Blackburn Rovers, they should be in the Premier League". What ever happened with that? It's almost like he was just telling us what he thought we wanted to hear.
  15. It's about time he was asked some proper questions. His answer to the question about the club's long term ambition says it all. "Is that a leading question" before going on with the usual buzzwords of "pandemic", "young side" and "difficult". That's a man who knows he has ballsed up and is now using any excuse he can think of to explain why we are nowhere near the promotion picture. Next summer the pitiful state of his 'journey' is going to be clear for everybody to see and he will have no place to hide. If the Ewood crowd turns on him at any stage this season, he'll walk, I'm convinced about that. What's clear from that interview is that he believes we have no chance of being promoted, but he won't say that directly. Andy Bayes asked him whether we were aiming for the top 6 this season, back in August. Mowbray's response was to laugh at the suggestion, which angered me at the time. It was the type of laugh you hear which translates as "don't be silly", before he then went on with the same "pandemic", "young side" and "difficult" speech. I'd take anybody over him right now. Anybody with a genuine drive to take the club forward and who will respect the club and the position that they are in as manager. There are managers out there who would relish the challenge and who would motivate our squad. This passive shit of "it's difficult" does nobody any good and filters down to the players. People like Keane, Wilder, Neill, Ainsworth, would roll their sleeves up and say "let's have a go" and it's that mentality which we badly need at the club. As it is, the club is going nowhere, the manager has no desire to take us anywhere, yet acts as if he is doing us a favour by being here. You couldn't make it up.
  16. How have QPR not scored there? We're hanging on for now, but it's got that familiar feel about it.
  17. Clarkson is the perfect example of why signing a kid on loan from a Premier League club doesn't mean much. Unless they are exceptional talents like Elliott, forget about it. It has been a poor first half, but QPR are there for the taking.
  18. We've already had a taster this season of how crap we look when Nyambe, Lenihan and Rothwell aren't playing. Next season could be a nightmare if we go on with this policy of frees and kids on loan. I don't trust Mowbray and co to replace any of them adequately. Rothwell leaving only to be replaced by a Tommy Doyle on loan is something that I can see happening.
  19. QPR play 3 at the back so I expect Mowbray will try and match them up. I think it's going to be a difficult evening and a draw would be a decent result. Chair, Austin and Dykes are a dangerous front three and I think they'll have too much for us. 2-0 QPR.
  20. Well played Leicester. Looking at United's next few fixtures, things could be about to get very interesting. I saw a comment elsewhere saying how it took Fergie 4 years to win something, therefore Ole needs more time. I don't know if it was posted tongue in cheek, but it's true 😁. Brentford were excellent today. They threw everything at Chelsea and were unlucky to come away with nothing in the end. That game reminded me of the time Chelsea stole 3 points at Ewood back in Feb '05 in a similar fashion. Brentford are going to cause problems for a lot of teams this season.
  21. That goal was coming. It's been all Coventry this half. We can't get the ball to stick upfront.
  22. Get in! Good work from Rothwell again. He's looking like a Championship version of Dunny. How are these lot 3rd in the league? Van Hecke looking solid too.
  23. What a move! Nobody else can do that in our midfield.
  24. That's a better lineup than I expected. Looking forward to seeing how Van Hecke does.
