True, I understand that. I'm not expecting a large number to attend, but there does seem to be a lot of interest in Rovers games from South America. Our response to that interest is to do nothing, so it seems. We really should be promoting the Rovers TV streams in that part of the world, with instructions laid out on how to purchase. I think we would sell quite a few at this moment in time.

It's a fair point. Genuinely, what is the club doing to try and take advantage of this huge commercial opportunity? Apart from producing a naff grey t-shirt, I can't think of anything else that has been done so far. I'm seeing Chile fans online asking where they can get Brereton shirts from, fans asking how they can get tickets for Rovers games. There are so many potential opportunities out there for us on the back of this, but it seems like nothing is happening at our end.

v Coventry City (h) - 16/10/21

Dolan being ill throws another spanner in the works. It sounds like Mowbray is trying to push Gally out there, as long as he can get any sort of training done before then. It would not surprise me if the front three on Saturday is Poveda, Buckley (false nine) and Khadra. Poveda has been absymal so far and should be nowhere near starting. However, Mowbray will want to keep Bielsa sweet and given the players that are missing/doubtful, he won't get a better chance to start. "We've been training with no strikers all week" suggests it's a false nine job on Saturday. Butterworth should start, but I think he could be on the bench again. I remember being at that game. It was an FA Cup tie. That pesky Huckerby! Glad we don't have to face him on Saturday. As for this weekend, I think it may be one of those frustrating draws. Coventry have made a flying start but aren't as good on the road. We should be stronger at the back with Nyambe and Lenihan returning. I just see us struggling to score this weekend without Diaz. I'm hoping that turns out to be wrong, obviously. Edun and Butterworth have to start, imo. I'm going for 0-0. -
Yes, there was rumoured Qatari interest in Rovers back in 2012/13. The talk at the time was that 3 of the Venky family wanted to sell, but Balaji didn't agree. I don't know how accurate that is, though. I just remember that was the line going around back then. There's no doubt a large part of our fan base would be celebrating just like a lot of Newcastle fans are doing. The prospect of becoming a big player again after years of dross under Venky's, where all hope has looked lost, would be difficult to turn down. The worry that I have is that the Premier League could soon become the billionaires playground and where would that leave the rest of us? Quick, somebody show the Qatari Royal Family Fever Pitch! They'll soon realise that the real story lies in getting Rovers back up there for a 2nd title 😁. I expect Newcastle to go for experienced Premier League players to begin with, like City did, to gradually build up to the big signings further on down the line. They are already being linked with the likes of Tarkowski, Lingard and so on. Big wages and the way the 'project' is sold could sway some on the fringes at bigger clubs. Van de Beek, Loftus Cheek and the like, possibly. I think talk of Conte is wild right now and I don't see that happening this early on. Exciting times for them nonetheless and it will be interesting to see how they go about it.

It would be interesting if we could add a poll to this thread. If the owners of Newcastle had bought Rovers instead, with the exact same plan and ambition in mind (i.e to be the best), how many of the fans would be for and against it?

Premier League season 21/22

It sucks. Fair play to Newcastle etc but seeing us stuck as we are hurts. Imagine 15 years of this lot, which is feasible as it doesn't look like they are going anywhere anytime soon. I'm not even after City or PSG levels of wealthy owners here. Just normal, competent owners who know how football works will do. We aren't moving forward until they sell up. These are some of the comments I've had from opposition fans recently: "Aren't Venky's good now?" "I thought Blackburn fans like Venky's now" "Don't they spend a lot of money?". Sigh. -

I might be in the minority here, but I'm happy for Newcastle. Maybe it's nostalgia, but I've never really disliked them or their fans. I'd much rather see them up there challenging than somebody like Chelsea, for example. If this takeover is making the big boys squirm and feel nervous, good! They need shaking up. -

I didn't see any of the other games, but Liverpool v City was a belter. Liverpool don't have the same intensity to their game as they did two years, but they still had enough quality to hurt City. That Salah goal was a brilliant piece of skill. Liverpool are making a decent fist of it for now, but I think they are going to tail off come January when the Africa Cup of Nations starts. I still think City are the team to beat. They were impressive at Chelsea last weekend and were very good again today, fighting back twice. Even though they conceded twice today, they have looked the best defensively up to this point. Foden showed his quality by putting in a big performance in arguably their biggest game. I thought Bernardo Silva was excellent again, as he was against Chelsea. It's like the ball is glued to his foot when he dribbles, it's not easy to take the ball off him. He also plays a key role in City winning the ball back from the opposition. Looking at who they play next, an 8-0 home win would be perfect. -
Edun has made two or three good interceptions already. I like the look of him so far.
-
Diaz! Superb ball in from Buckley.
-
We've gone 4-4-2. An abysmal first half. It feels like the bigger the away following, the more pathetic the performance served up. It seems to have happened often over the past few years. Mowbray has nowhere to hide today at least.
-
Absolute rubbish at the back. Magloire beaten far too easily, doesn't put a challenge in and lets the winger put a cross in. Game over.
-
Another soft goal. Their goalscorer was left with so much space on our right hand side.
-
Not seen it mentioned elsewhere, but Rovers v Fulham will be shown live on Sky on the 3rd of November. It's a Wednesday night game, 7.45 kick off. They must fancy Fulham to pull off an upset.

v Huddersfield (a) - 28/09/2021

Whichever way we look at, we've got a selection headache on Saturday and not of the good kind. Playing Travis at right back might be the best we can do, but then it seriously weakens our midfield with Rothwell already out. Starting Magloire at right back and sticking with the 4-2-3-1/4-3-3 should result in the least disruption, but I'm not keen on seeing him start there. It's a tricky one. I'm expecting Mowbray to go with 3 at the back. Buckley and Pickering as wing backs, with Travis and Edun as the two in the middle. -

What has happened to Poveda? He was shocking. He's getting worse with each appearance. He looked uninterested tonight, like he couldn't be bothered and didn't want the ball. A very disappointing signing so far. If it was possible to send him back now, I would. Our lack of depth in defensive positions is coming back to bite us already. One injury to Nyambe and we're left panicking in that position. Not Lenihan's biggest fan, but we missed him tonight. Magloire is nowhere near good enough for this level. We looked alright going forward, up until Rothwell came off. Diaz is doing the business, he looks a different player. Unfortunately, our soft centre and poor defending undid his good work tonight. It's infuriating how soft those Huddersfield goals were. Blackpool all of a sudden becomes a tougher game with two out of our regular back four not playing. -

Kaminski with a brilliant save. We've looked a bit ragged since the subs. -

Great to see us have some genuine attacking options to bring off the bench. Khadra and Poveda coming on. -

Premier League season 21/22

It feels like the hierarchy at Norwich are happy just to bank the Premier League money, go down and repeat the process again. They never make a fist of staying up and spend as little as they can on cheap gambles. Last time they came into the Premier League with a better squad. Buendia, Cantwell and Pukki were on fire and raring to go. This time, there's no momentum, Buendia's gone, I don't know where Cantwell is (injured/out of form?) and Pukki's gone off the boil. Hanley's being exposed most weeks at the back, he isn't up to it at this level. Their starting 11 looks really poor. It will be interesting to see if they can make it past Derby's record lowest points total. -
The Cardiff commentators were equally stunned at full time. They said something along the lines of "Blackburn aren't Fulham or West Brom, but they have beaten us comfortably". Brilliant 😁.

Yeah, that's the one. Bohinen found it difficult to see the ball. I think that was also the kit we had when the fight broke out between Batty and Le Saux on the pitch in Moscow.
