  1. Looking forward to watching it. I've seen it being advertised a few times over the last week or so. Each time I hear the words "Jack Walker meant business", it makes me proud to think of what we did and how he set us up to take on the big heads. Those were the days.
  2. Seeing a lot of animosity online towards Rovers from Chile fans over Brereton not being allowed to join their squad. A lot of #FreeBen posts going around, and even a petition. Who would have thought it 😁.
  3. It was in a video interview. I remember him being pitch side, it must have been post match, posted maybe on Lancs Sport twitter or on Andy Bayes' twitter. He was asked about Tosin's quality and whether he would like to have him back next season. He basically said there's no chance of us signing him and, he definitely, 100 percent, said "it would cost £18m to sign him permanently". I remember being shocked when Fulham got him for £2m as I was expecting them to have paid a fair whack for him based solely on that interview. To be fair, I haven't seen or heard the £18m figure mentioned anywhere else, either in print or on radio etc. It was just in that one video. The link below shows how Mowbray was talking about Tosin at the time, it just misses out the valuation. https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/18572596.man-city-favour-rovers-need-land-defender/
  4. That's fair enough, Eddie. However, some of us are bothered by what is said publicly. I have a problem with Mowbray leading the fans on and then not backing up his comments, or in some cases completely changing tack. How many examples do we have of him saying one thing, only for it to not materialise? "Defenders are coming" "I know we need men in the side to help the younger players out" "We might have a bit of money to spend on a striker, if not we have loan options we are looking at". Then we have the lies: Obafemi was going to cost £6m apparently. Swansea got him for £2m. Tosin was going to cost £18m to sign permanently (those were his exact words). Fulham got him for £2m. Bauer wanted £40k a week in wages. Preston aren't paying him anything close to that. For what it's worth, I've been pleasantly surprised watching our team this season. I like the youthful energy on show, the pressing game, the grit that we have shown so far. Some aspects of the defending, with us getting heads and blocks on most things reminds me a bit of the good old days, but I know there's a long way to go yet and we need Ayala to stay fit. My problem is with the way the club is being ran and those in management positions trying to take us for fools. No ambition, but they don't mind stringing the fans along.
  5. A last minute loan and an underwhelming one at that, just sums the lot of them up. No real plan, just wing it and see what happens. From what I remember Burke used to be quick in his early days, but has beefed up quite a bit since then. Does he still have the pace? The only positives I can take out of it are that he is strong and maybe quick, but a goalscorer he isn't. He's another one who is a winger that Mowbray will be looking at playing down the middle at times. The rotation, the tinkering, whatever you want to call it, is going to be at its worst this season with all the wide forwards and 'false 9s' at Mowbray's disposal.
  6. What is the fascination with Swansea that some of these players have? Is it their famed 'passing game' from years gone by? The money? They've been abysmal this season, lost loads of key players and are going backwards. So many players seem to want to go there for some reason and I don't understand it.
  7. Bit of intrigue around Khadra. Never seen him before, but a tricky winger by the sounds of it. Looking forward to watching him play. Good to see he has already set himself a target in terms of goals. He must be decent to have been at Dortmund not so long ago.
  8. That's a cracking signing for Stoke. How have we missed him whilst dealing with Brighton over the past few weeks?
  9. Berahino to Sheff Wednesday. Glad it didn't turn out to be Rovers in for him.
  10. Yeah I saw that. It was an enjoyable watch. As soon as he mentioned an approach from a Championship club, I wondered whether it was Rovers. I think he said it was three months ago. We apparently had four managers turn us down a few months ago, with Alex Neil being one of them. Was Keane in among them, I wonder. Would I have Keane here? Yes, absolutely. The man sets high standards and is driven to win. Those are key characteristics that haven't been seen at our club for over 11 years. He'll be desperate to succeed in his next job, having been away for so long and will want to prove that he is a capable manager. Timed right, it could be just what we need.
  11. He's out of contract next summer and it looks like the owner wants to cash in now. Their fans aren't happy at the thought of him leaving, no mention of Rovers from them, just that it could be to another Championship club. It will sting them big time if he signs for us tomorrow! I'm sure there was another post before that one word post (maybe a day before it) where somebody claimed we were in for Barkhuizen.
  12. A couple of Preston fans claiming 'sources' say Barkhuizen is being sold tomorrow. Not concrete, obviously, but he has been linked with a deadline day move to Rovers.
  13. Mowbray certainly loves to stockpile in certain positions. From 15 centre mids to 15 wingers now. Not complaining though, as Patrick Roberts is quality on his day and better than anyone we've had out there in the recent past. If Roberts is a goer there's no need for Khadra to come in with him. We clearly have some money to spend, so tomorrow should be very interesting.
  14. If Obafemi, in the absence of other offers, has changed his mind and now wants to join us, I would bring him here in a shot. We aren't in a position where we can turn that kind of player down, especially this late in the window. As it is, I doubt there is anything in it. It could just be Sky rehashing an old story. I can see us throwing panic bids in for Strikers tomorrow in the hope that one of them lands.
  15. Decent point in the end. Sounds like it was another battling display. We stood up well to the pressure at times, which is good to hear. Gallagher seems to have had a good game in his proper position. Disappointed with the defending for their goal as it was described as 'schoolboy' on Radio Lancs, but a draw is probably a fair result.
  16. Red card for Morsy! Still a chance of taking all 3 points here.
  17. Carter sent off. High boot. Second yellow.
  18. He has played well there in a couple of games, but it's not ideal over the course of a season. Sounds like he had a poor first half at RB up against a quick and strong winger. He probably will, but don't know when he'll be fit. I thought he wants to play further forward though. I think Mowbray will play Buckley at right wing back ahead of Pike. Looks like he doesn't rate Pike.
  19. The "we'll make do" approach is already causing us problems at right back/right wing back. There is no decent alternative to Nyambe. This has to be addressed before Wednesday.
  20. We've gone 3 at the back. Magloire playing as right wing back, Carter moved to left centre back.
  21. Magloire was warming up towards the end of the half. I expect he'll be on for Carter at some point with Carter on a yellow.
  22. Gally is playing down the middle. Confirmed by Danny Graham on co commentary who said he is pleased to see him play in his preferred position.
  23. No, it isn't. There is only radio commentary available on Radio Lancs as far as I can tell.
  24. Good lineup overall. Pleased to see the new signings start and I'm looking forward to seeing how they link up. It's too much to ask to have Poveda on the right and a striker down the middle though! Some things will never change. But anyway, COYB.
