I’ve got a very long list of things to ask and won’t be taking it easy. Appreciate it may not always come across properly in the minutes, but they’re only a summary. I’ve supported the club for over 30 years and had a season ticket for as long. It’s my club too and I absolutely have a dog in the fight. As ever, if anyone wants to take my place on the forum and believes they can do a better job, ask more probing questions or make the top brass feel the heat, you can always take my place and represent this site. I’ve no problem giving my place up for someone who thinks they’ll do a better job.

Depends what we want to do. If we actually want to win trophies, then we’ll hire a manager with a proven track record of doing so. If we just want to hope we eventually strike lucky and hire someone with no track record, but with no actual desire to win things and just keep bumbling along, then we’ll hire someone from within and the saga continues.

Right decision at the right time. He did a lot right with getting people back on side with the national team and giving us some pride back, but ultimately, he was brought in to win trophies and he hasn’t managed to. Not saying the latter means he’s a failure, but football is about the trophies at the end of it and the wait goes on for us.

Slept on last night’s result and gathered my thoughts today. Southgate has done some good for sure and he helped change the culture and the perception of the national team, for all that, he deserves credit. But, I think his race is run tbh. The semi against Croatia and now losing two finals, tells me that it’s probably never going to happen for him. I think he’ll leave whatever happens tbh. Spain were the best team in the tournament and deserving winners, but losing in a final is still an absolute gut punch. I think this tournament should be the end of the road for Walker and Kane too tbh. Kane looks like he can’t run and Walker has probably reached the end of his cycle really. As for a Southgate replacement, if we’re going English, I think the only real choices are Eddie Howe and Graham Potter.

A lot of this rests on the manager too. Why can Guardiola get more from him than Southgate? Spoiler alert; Guardiola is a proper manager.

The facts are also that we’ve won none of the tournaments Southgate has managed.

So, everything in context- the same manager has just lost the last two Euros in the final and people want him to stay on? A strange flex indeed, IMO.

Yet we finished higher with JDT than Mowbray ever did 🫤.

I’m gonna sign off for the night before my head explodes. But if you’ve got the player of the year from the Spanish league and the Premier League, you lose two successive finals, it’s probably time to do something different.
