  1. Lets drop the Champions League theory boys and girls, IF we make it FINE but seriously, we could find ourselves seriously embarrassed in that competition. Lets ride the wave and take the first step to Europe by taking a eufa cup slot and then making the mini league scenario. Rovers are going to have to move forward with new signings for the next season, if we make the CL then its wholesale changes and a far superior player required costing millions which we aint got. Arsenal will take that spot, for me Rovers to finish 5th at best 6th at worst. if results fall for us then 4 wins and a draw may just be the perfect finish to what has become a very very good season
  2. cant see Rovers getting any less than the following Wigan 23000 Liverpool 26000 chelsea 25000 (cfc to win the league at Ewood ?) man city 28000 (I know city have asked for 10k tickets) so around 100,000 fans coming through the gates wigan bcfc 18000 max villa 19000 pompy 19000 Rovers win hands down
  3. who cares really ? I mean they are hardly going to affect BRFC, they may affect bumley but not Blackburn Rovers. Good luck to them, they have a certain history and if they make it fair play
  4. dink dank doo 1-0 will do for me
  5. a birthday to remember
  6. I think your a bit off Jim the price of football is simply to blame, things like selling players are additive factors.
  7. lets try and explain that one
  8. My departed dad was a lifelong Mackem fan so I have some mixed feelings about the away game as I still have some family in the region. I think Rovers can safely add this game to the away win column 1-0 Rovers
  9. NO but the look on moanrinos face was worth a million yellow cards
  10. Get a bet on now whilst the goings good Savage to score at Brum Rovers to win 1-0 Brum to get relegation confirmed on the same day What a treble
  11. Bloody freezing........and a bloody big nasty black cloud ....and then the sunshone on Ewood Rovers v Boro, a fixture that does not certainly get the hairs on ones back rising and the nerves tingling. Its fixture that has had big home defeats, teams that cant be bothered to turn up and generally has proved to be poor fayre on entertainment. So today what happened ? The Ewood crowd was not 18000, please dont anyone rely on it as the computerised entry system went down. A bad start after a few pre match pints. I missed the kick off by 2 minutes and was not a happy chappy like the rest who queued up at The Blackburn End. The match ? Boro clearly came to win an open game. Both teams attacked, both teams were wide open. An entertaining game was there for the taking. Step forward the black cloud that is the refereee. he simply contrived, on his own, to make the game a nonsense compared to his own performance. The clown should be ashamed. The supporters who entered Ewood (finally) were there to watch 22 footballers NOT the one single muppet on show. Rovers take the lead TWICE and are comfortably ahead at the break. 2-1 with offerings of better football in the second half. Early in the second half the main man enters a world of his own. I cant think it would have been more than 9 minutes, two bookings and for WHAT exactly and the man every other supporter loves to hate is on his way to an early bath. I am still at a loss to know what offences Savo made to warrant those two cards. IMO the clown sent him off simply because his name is Robbie Savage. BTW if that second booking is handball then please feel free to come to Leyland and shoot me. Furthermore why didnt he book the fatman Viduka for his deliberate handball towards the end ? Swiftly, Boro rally, having made 3 subs at once, and the scores are level. Rovers are up against it, 10 men against 12. Boro were simply biding their time to put us to the sword, they were all over us as Rovers tried to stem the flood of red attacks as well has having to contend with some absolutley ridiculous refereeing decisions. Enter a little KNIGHT in shining armour, the man to stem the flood of red shirted attacks and the man to slay the red tide. DO NOT miss Match of the DAY or footie First. The winning goal was pure genius. Yes, a certain MR Shearer used to do it week in week out on the Ewood Grass until that light faded out back in 1996/1997. In a certain Mr Craig Bellamy, Blackburn Rovers have a striker of the highest quality and IMO a player who can become a much bigger hero at Ewood that Mr Shearer ever was, simply as he is the most explosive player ever to grace the Ewood turf. A marvellous sequence of short passing led to Bellars breaking on the right, a touch, a quick look up and BANG 3-2, game over and 3 points in the bag. The net bulged, Bellars kissed the turf surrounded by the surviving other 8 Rovers outfield players. The fans ecstatic, Boro deflated and The Arsenal seriously worried as the coveted 4th spot was yet again in the grasp of the men from Blackburn. After the final whistle, I am not too sure what happened. Did Bellars upset the ref or linesclown when he knocked the ball out of their hand ? Anyhow, Ewood rose to salute a fabulous effort from every player in Blue and White. Another 3 points, another home win and FFS an 11th HOME win . Just what do BRFC have to do to persuade another 2000 supporters into the ground ? The team deseerve every accolade they get. Today sees me only griping about two things concerning Rovers. 1. Brad, your postioning for the first Boro goal was poor, albeit it was a very sloppy pass in the first place form our defence. 2. When Mickey Gray is out of position, we ALWAYS concede a goal. Mickey, its time to remain on the half way line. Oh finally, a quick mention tot he idiots who tried to ush the two stewards dealing with the disabled supporters as the turnstyles ground to a halt. Your nothing short of fools. Your outrageous behaviour could have caused one of those supporters some serious harm and you ought to be ashamed
  12. let then go and kick every one of them out their respective leagues and ban htem from ever coming back. They would then soon realise their bread and butter is no beter than they are now.
  13. I spent the whole day in Sunny Days in Rhodes with my late mate Jim and family. Watched a whole days footie that included some minor scottish game, I am pretty sure Everton were then on, Then Rovers finished off with Olympiakos v Panathanikos. Had a few Wham boys in the bar who really were in peices. We all had the time of our lives the followign weekend as England clinched a 2-2 draw in the Euros
  14. people can laugh at how poor Baros's finishing was on he day but for me he could just be the typ eof player that Rovers could pair with Bellamy up front. A taller version with speed. Maybe playing in our team he would have punished the defence ?
  15. coz he is unemployed at the moment
  16. Upson is allegedly going to liverpool having not agreed to sign his new contract offer.
  17. just realised as well they play Charlton again straight after us so thats 4 difficult games on top of each other. surely the old brigade that is boro cannot handle such a fixture congestion. heads up anyhow, they may just not bother turning up claiming flu like symptons
  18. 2-0 Rovers to consolidate 5th place boro will be down after defeats in London and Rome Bellamy double
  19. Just back from a very cold Ewood Park - yes its bloody freezing. A few pointers from my view from the Blackburn End Rovers were very fortunate winners Villa were simply mugged The ref Gallagher proved yet again he is a muppet Rovers midfield were a non entity first half Brad played superbly The defence of both teams were as wide as he Thames estuary Thank god for Lady Luck 2-0 really is a p*££ take on Villa, but then again last weeks result on Rovers left us feeling pretty much the same as our Villa counerparts are feeling right now. Having Tugay on today would NOT have improved the first half, indeed, such was Villa's dominance with David and McCann, I cant see for the life of me how he would have coped. Bentley should not have been put in the middle, that position should be occupied by Reid. Emerton should have been on from the off. If Gray was feeling ill he should not have started. Todays result made one thing perfectly clear, we are riding the crest of a big wave. The players faces said it all, the way they celebrated the goals, the way they congratulated each other and the SMILES are there that show a truly happy dressing room. Thanks Rovers, 5th place for now, another home game on the horizon and another 3 points beckon. BTW anyine know when Boros second leg is in Europe ?
  20. I think we can expect great things if he stays level headed. looks very promising from the times taht I have seen him play
  21. Taylor and Lua Lua from Pompy Lawrence from Sunderland Pennant and Dunny from Big City FC
  22. aside of the scoreline I have one abding memory from this game - a good slap off my mum for breaking my flask caught on camera in the Riverside swinging my Rovers duffel bag around after one of the goals I tried to explain to my mum that I had simply dropped it until the goals appeared on Gerald Sinstadts footie show the following day when I was clearly shown in action the spank was well worth it
  23. my first ever away game with my good old grandad ! Only remember the fervent atmosphere and the utmost hatred following the goal.
  24. Personally, having just arived back from the sun in Lanzarote (granted a wee bit of wind as well!), I feel Rovers will be so angry about how they lost the game at Spurs on Sunday that they will put it right before half time in this game. Rovers have gone through the last 2 years being portrayed as thugs, violent players and everything else apart from being footballers. On Sunday Rovers showed the whole watching world that the football they can play is as entertaining as any other footballing team. To hear Andy Gray bemoaning Rovers luck whilst at the same time telling the watching public just how good a team we are took the pain out of the defeat, yes on Sunday I was down and angry, but being in Cactus Jacks, in Costa teguise with a mob of "Landaners", they were left in no doubt just who the better equipped team was. My Blue and White shirt was worn with true pride. Onto Saturday, Rovers to carry out a lethal execution of their duties to the footballing public. Mssrs Pongolle and Bellamy are on fire, Reid is stoking the engine whilst savage is doing the mopping up. Nelsen and Todd will not be fazed by phillips and angel, whilst Brad should have a relatively quiet game. A point to note, and please this is not a reflection on any personal view, didnt anyone else notice just how good Rovers played the ball around the middle of the park without TUGAY ? No sloppy passes, no giving the ball away and no stupid tackles or rash challenges. Just an observation through my Carling laced sunglasses 3-0 Rovers Bellamy, Pongolle and Emerton
