[Archived] Goal Of The Season
1864roverite replied to rog of the rovers's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
If there was ever a chance of selling a Rovers DVD then this season is it. What an incredible selection of goals to choose from and oh how the money men must be wishing Rovers were a bigger marketing force as surely those goals alone will stand against those of any other Premiership club, in particular the so called big 5. My personal choice is for Bellamy's first at Pompy, however how hard has it been to choose the winner ? Any one of them would win hands down in a normal season, but, for Rovers this is an incredible season, the start of a whole new adventure. bring it on, it makes my spine shiver when I think of seeing those goals on show at the next home game. -

he didnt play at sunderland as he was ill. He cant play against lfc as he is on loan from THEM and is part of Premiership rules. Cant wait till Sunday, the pre match tension is really building as we approach the final hurdle. Now then how long is it since Rovers fans felt like this, being up for a game that is 6 days away ! I like it, in fact I like it a lot -
I hear today that Chelski are paying for their fans to go to Ewood as the game be just be the match they win the league. if it is the case then expect 6000 cockney russians entering the real theatre of dreams giving us yet another 26k plus home crowd. last 3 home games may just be lfc = 28000 cfc = 27000 mcfc = 29000 PLUS

There are some crucial games coming up man u v spuds arsenal v spuds bolton v chelsea man u v chelsea rovers v chelsea Rovers can still finish top 6 quite easy On paper spuds have a much more difficult run in than Rovers or Arsenal so I expect Arsenal to finish 4th, Rovers to finish 6th and spuds to take 5th place. A 6th place finish is an absolute miraculous ending to a truly fabulous season

for the crowd spotters work it out like this Rovers have an average home crowd of around 18300 Liverpool have sold 7400 tickets expect the crowd to be around 26000 and upwards after today, I wasnt impressed with Liverpool. They are very one dimensional and all of the play goes through Gerrard and Alonso. The front 2 pairing of Fowler and Crouch wouldnt scare a dying swan and the back four although settled are there for the taking. Boltons upwardly mobile pairing of Fatty and Baldy frightened them early doors so ther eis no reason why Bellamy plus 1 cannot do the same. For me, on todays performance Rovers need to be up for it in midfield. crucial battles Lucas v the pony tailed princess The Admiral v the bean pole Roberto Savage v Gerard Fastfoot v lanky fin -

a result that cements Rovers fight for 6th place 2-0 pompy -
I am so disappointed tonight I cant be really bothered to make any full synopsis of the match. So, instead, a few questions. 1. Why no Emerton ? Despite it being a derby match the right wing was where everything was coming from. 2. Why bother with Dickov ? A totally inept performance. 3. Despite his goal, Kuqio will never be a premiership player so again why bother ? 4. How bad did the midfield get in the first 20 minutes on the second half ? 5. Why cant Emerton take a leaf out of Reidy's book and learn just how to cross a ball ? 6. How can a donkey such as Kavanagh, outrun and out muscle the midfield of Tugay and Savage ? 7. Just how poor a support do wigon have ? Easily the worst set of supporters I have ever seen at Ewood Park. 8. When will Rovers learn that an easy ball is a far better option than fannying around with poncy flicks ? Rovers got a get out of jail free card tonight and played that card. It leaves Bolton in a position to knock us out of 6th spot with their games in hand and that is rather worrying, especially after how well we have played of late On Saturday, we may just see what this Rovers team is made off cause believe me, they will have to be up for it for the whole 90 minutes, not just the last 10
