  1. Absolutely agree. Think one paper wrote Rovers would be disappointed if he left Swansea as he was our choice should JDT walk. Thank God neither happened. Fail to understand his Southampton appointment and I posted on here I thought he'd be gone by Christmas. I'll update that forecast and I reckon he'll be gone when Ipswich do them in midweek - signs the Saints' fans are already turning, don't think the chant on Friday night of "who's the wanker in the black" was directed at the ref!
  2. Think the big issue today is who starts in goal. Jackson says JDT hinted Pears will get the nod (a huge, huge mistake, IMO) and thinks Rovers will go: Blackburn Rovers (4-3-3): Pears; Rankin-Costello, Carter, Hyam, Pickering; Wharton, Travis, Szmodics; Hedges, Moran, Gallagher. Sticking with my thoughts on this from earlier in the week.
  3. Or JDT has a weakness where goalies are concerned and extends loyalty too far! Really hope I'm wrong as I don't rate Pears but I think JDT will give him this game given it's against his old club.
  4. I fear for us on Saturday. Middlesbrough are much better than their opening five games of four losses and a draw would suggest. We all know what happens when the opposition need a win or an opposition striker needs a goal! Middlesbrough made two very good signings in O'Brien and Geenwood and undoubtedly the former will play like a man possessed and show Rovers just what they missed. A horrible feeling JDT will stick with Pears against his former club and, if he does, it will be idiocy and a decision that will backfire. Sadly Rovers 1 Middlesbrough 3 and a result we might find difficult to recover from.
  5. So sorry to hear your sad news. Someone once said to me "grief shared is halved, joy shared is doubled". Found this so true over the years.
  6. Fergie is one of my all time Rovers' favourites. At his best, an absolute magician. An out and out winner with an ultra competitive edge. If Fergie had joined one of the really big clubs when he left Rovers, I feel sure he would have got even better and gone on to play for England many times. Tony Field was good for Rovers but come on, he wasn't in the same league as Fergie who plied his trade consistently well at the highest level.
  7. and what is your knowledge, experience and intuition telling you?
  8. Does anyone know wtf is going on / has gone on? Don't forget, I first posted about the Adam's stuff in mid June and at that time there was no indication of what was to come. Given where the information came from, I am very confident it was correct and it certainly was not nonsense.
  9. Jim has given you one example below. Other examples, have we even found anyone as good as Blackpool's discovery/signing of Jerry Yates and Josh Bowler - both would walk into our team and improve it. There are many others. As for Adam's 'muti-million' pound offer - that's an exaggeration, told both Rovers' offers in £2 to £3million range. Circumstances change, not Broughton's fault, and you go with the flow. Are Ennis and Semir the best Broughton can really do?! Nowt to do with Raya and Phillips. Sadly, it seems 'investors' got cold feet and is it any feckin wonder!!!
  10. No one has come out and said why the purse strings have been tightened. Indian tax law, Indian policy changes re overseas' investment, the Raos managing their losses to a lower acceptable level? The fans need honesty and transparency to help with their understanding and perhaps empathy - it's that simple. Communication is abysmal. 'The guy' has had three windows to nail a striker who would get us goals and is better than Gallagher. To me this should have been at the top of his 'must do' list when he arrived (his other stuff is almost akin to changing the deckchairs as the Titanic went down). He has failed. Window one - Hirst proved less than useless with Rovers. Window two - nothing. Window three - IMO, an unfit and overweight Ennis who seems injury prone and is certainly unproven at this level.; add Semir who is a 'last dance' signing and stinks of desperation. - would have been a decent gamble if he had supplemented a main striker signing. Broughton has had the whole world to go at to find 'the missing' link - other teams with small budgets find them. Think virtually all Rovers fans are aware of our ownership issues, however, Waggott and Broughton are paid huge amounts of money (relative to 99.9% of the fan base) to manage our club effectively and to move the club forward. IMO, Waggott has failed miserably. Broughton has shown me nothing out of the ordinary and, IMO, is bang average at best and at worse, out of his depth.
  11. Ultimately, proof of the pudding is in the eating, however, the Rovers' pudding seems under prepared, thrown together a bit and lacking in quality ingredients. At the outset, think it's widely recognised we needed to replace goals and we needed some experience (those who've been around the block a few times, know how to win and carry a bit of a nasty streak). Wahlstedt - could be the quality of keeper we need. A Swedish international who has to be a big upgrade on Pears (though it would be difficult to find a keeper who wasn't). Hill - another body in defence, arguably no better than anything we have, certainly not experienced. Tonstad - jury well and truly out on this one Sigurdsson - think him and the goalie could be our best two signings, just hope we haven't signed a 'sick note'; must have known about his groin issue when we signed him - unbelievable Moran - the lad has something in his locker, not sure he's strong enough for a full season of Championship physicality Ennis - seems he rocked up way below par for fitness, a damning indictment for a professional athlete (particularly when joining a new club). Does not seem the most robust of footballers and think he's destined for long periods of unavailability. Telalovic - a 'last dance' signing when desperation has taken over Broughton has, yet again, not covered himself in glory and the Buckley loan is farcical - should either have been sold (for reinvestment) or stayed at the club. Never been convinced by Broughton and I think he is a man well and truly out of his depth. His communication is abysmal. Sadly, for me, it's a 3/10 window and a window I think that will well and truly have p1ssed off JDT and hastened his journey to the exit door.
  12. Very, very disappointing. No surprises for me. Many of us have suspected there is a fragility about Rovers that hasn't been addressed in the window. The window was immeasurably underwhelming. Two areas stood out out for me yesterday. Firstly, IMO, Pears at his best is extremely average, at his worse he's a feckin nightmare. I have repeatedly expressed my view that he is a keeper who will only get us out of the Championship one way and that's through relegation. He will cost us a minimum 15/20 points a season. His tenure as our number one is indefensible and Leopold MUST be our goalie going forward. Secondly, we struggle to score goals. Gallagher is not the answer and never has been. , Ennis seems like a sick note whilst Leonard is not yet ready to play as sole striker. Semir may prove to be a gem but I am not holding my breath - to me, he's the type of signing you make IN ADDITION to your new main man. Even more convinced JDT will now p1ss off at the first opportunity. We really have fecked him about. A beautiful September Sunday morning tempered by a huge depressive cloud hovering over Rovers that seemingly simply will not go away.
  13. Fully agree. JDT is a gem. A super coach and an excellent personality to front our club. The Raos will never, ever, have a better chance with JDT at the reins to return to the promised land. Just feckin back him to the hilt. It's a no brainer.
  14. Fantastic result! Super, super goal from Hedges. Pears did what he needed to do, Hyam and Carter rock sold. Wharton oozes class even though not one of his best games (still catching up on fitness), Travis more like it again though a bit surprised he seemed to be running out of steam mid second half. Dolan -I'll drive this lad wherever he wants to go, oh so feckin woeful. Moran, want to see more of, promising and has something. JDT - Raos, Suhail - just back the feckin man; he's a gem and could get you back a big part of the money you've spunked away through, IMO, your naivete and incompetence. As for Watford - they'll have a new manager by the time they play again.
  15. Don't think we can afford to wait. The lad has a full cap with Sweden. Pears is so unconvincing and, IMO, was at fault with both goals against Hull. Kaminski would have saved the first whilst Pears' indecision and poor judgement left him in 'no man's land' for the second. It's a no brainer.
  16. I didn't say I was and I didn't need to be to make those general comments about the players concerned or, IMO, the ownership / executive mangement state of abyss. I have seen the highlights and it was clearly combination stuff from Pickering and, IMO, Pears not convincing on either goal - Kaminski would have made the save for the first goal and would have been far more decisive for the second goal instead of being hopelessly stranded.
  17. Nailed it. You can pull 11 lads in from Pleasington who will give their all for 90+ minutes - that is the minimum requirement and no plaudits for 'the lads who ran their hearts out', it's scores on the doors that count. Pears never the answer and unconvincing, Brittain was signed as a rb so ffs play him there and move JRC into midfield, Pickering not up to it and never was (combination stuff way he dealt / didn't deal with that through ball), Travis has his moments but so infrequent and as for Dolan and Gallagher............................................... Think it's going to be a long hard winter. Think JDT will be gone by Christmas and words simply fail me where the Raos, Waggott and Suhail are concerned. In 60+ years supporting Rovers there have been a fair old number of lows. However, this is different era as worryingly, IMO, our present owners and senior executive management are passionless and simply don't care. In the past, we may not not have had a pot to p1ss in at times, but there was a real passion there from the likes of Bancroft, Keighley, Brown and even Fox and obviously Jack himself who must be spinning in his grave at the wanton destruction of his beloved Rovers. Pre season optimism rapidly evaporating.
  18. Think we've enough to beat Hull at home at this stage of the season. Rovers by the odd goal. Every man and his dog knows we need need to improve in both depth and quality before this window shuts - if we don't, mid table with JDT still in place at Christmas would, IMO, be a result.
  19. Absolutely feckin delighted tonight. Will be cracking open a couple of fine reds with dinner. Leonard is going to be a big, big player and star. Hopefully, many on here will now know why I was banging on about him last season and wanted to see him start (he could have been the difference..............................).
  20. Craig was a clever footballer. The problem with him was that milk turned quicker! I remember the 'worldie' he once scored at Ewood going from the half way line before hammering into the top corner. A week later bumped into him at Spread Eagle, Mellor and bought him a pint.
  21. We really need a win to get us up and running quickly. Said it time and time again, this league is all about confidence and momentum. Rovers to nick it by the odd goal with Leonard hailed as the all conquering hero.
  22. If it's known they are offski then such an action before any announcement is crass mismanagement. Sadly, I think crass mismanagement is now a Rovers' way of life.
  23. From memory, and it's a bloody long time ago, a tea cake did have raisins in - my mum and dad loved them toasted for breakfast. Other 'delicacies' I can recall from those tender years include tripe and chips, tripe and onions and cow heel pie! Happy days!
  24. John Bulls are the dog's b0ll0cks and have bought them at chippies as far a field as Arnside and Keswick!
