  1. Think we only have 5 English managers in the PL now, Howe, Dyche, Cooper, O'Neil and Martin - that's a mere 25%. If we could get Kopp, or even Pep if he fancies international management when his contract finishes at City next year, then it would be very foolish, short sighted and short minded to go down the 'English only' route.
  2. What have we won since 1966? The answer is nothing. Simple as that. Pretty sure you are in the minority. Get a poll going on here and let's see who is right!
  3. Absolutely agree. Attwell has 'form' though doesn't he!?
  4. Your list is utterly depressing. Howe would be an outsider, the rest would be nowhere. You say we tried two foreign managers and no more you say. However, you neglect to say since Sir Alf we've had about 15 English managers and achieved what!?!? Football is about opinions but I think you would find your opinions are very much in the minority where the nationality of the national team manager is concerned.
  5. Gallagher is a tamer version of Robbie Savage - for a start, he can't pass the feckin ball and would give us no control of the game, just charging around like a headless chicken. Vastly overrated and not what England need. As regards the manager's job, how small minded is that!!! I don't care what nationality the guy is, what colour he is or what religion he is. The acid test is can he make us a better and more successful football team. I remember the day we won the World Cup back in 1966 - it was a joyous, momentous occasion and one I hope to see repeated before I pop my clogs. Klopp would be terrific - hugely passionate, resonates with the fans and plays terrific and exciting football - everything Southgate isn't and doesn't. By the way, your utterly bizarre thinking would have denied England the services of players like John Barnes, Terry Butcher and Owen Hargreaves all born overseas.
  6. Capello didn't show much for England - weren't we bounced out of the last 16 in the World Cup by Germany?
  7. For sure. What's your problem with that? Think he'd be sensational - much better than the other foreign managers we've had (Capello and Eriksson).
  8. MU fans will be hoping and praying Sir Jim doesn't go for Southgate when his England contract expires this year. Our most talented group of players for years and years yet Southgate can't get the best out of them with his hopeless selections, formations and tactics. Get Klopp appointed to give us passion, style and excitement.
  9. No control. Little cohesion. What are Foden and TAA doing on that pitch. Crying out for Adam Wharton.
  10. Sorry Chaddy but where Rovers are concerned I think you live in a magical realm, parallel to our own, known as the 'Otherworld' along with the fairies. IMO, our spending on fees will not break £1million. Ruddy's career is done and dusted - a washed-up 38 year old goalie not good enough for a relegated Brum and certainly not feckin good enough for us.
  11. Prepare to call bullsh1t! There's no way we would be signing the likes of McFadzean, Fleck and Ruddy if there was £20million+ jingling in our pockets. I would be surprised if we break even £1million.
  12. The sun is at last starting to shine outside and thank bloody goodness as this thread continues to be so depressing. Ruddy, McFadzean and Fleck - feck me, if anything summed up just how far how club has fallen then it's the likelihood of these three being our first signings of the close season and some are even trying to justify the signings!
  13. So what!? Yet to see Foden do anything in an England shirt. History is littered with players remarkable at club level but unable to make an impact on the international stage. Foden is one of those and should be benched. Our one seriously world class player who puts the fear of God into the opposition and you want to move him from his natural position in order to accommodate Foden!? Utter lunacy. As for Gallagher, something of a headless chicken who is unable to control midfield/ a game like Wharton can. If Wharton played for a so called 'big fashionable PL' team, the pundits would be clamouring for his inclusion and you too would jump on the bandwagon.
  14. To win a tournament you have to be a very good and cohesive football unit. We aren't and haven't really been so for a huge amount of time and that's why our last tournament win was way, way back in 1966!!! You look at previous tournament winners like Brazil, Argentina, West Germany, Germany, France, Italy, Spain etc and they were streets and streets ahead of our current team. The trouble is Southgate is too negative and struck by big player syndrome - our problem is the whole is NOT greater than the sum of its individual parts. I would go: Pickford / Walker, Stones, Guehi, Gomez / Rice, Wharton / Bellingham/ Saka, Kane, Eze Gomez is a much, much better lb than Trippier and played there in 20ish games or so for Liverpool this season. TAA is not an international class midfielder and gives you no control in midfield whereas Wharton would. Foden has done feck all in an England shirt whilst Eze has been on fire for Palcace and Wharton knows his runs, game etc.
  15. Under whelming performance. After the first 30 minutes we had no control of the game. Southgate needs to show some balls and start with Wharton next to Rice. TAA is not an international class midfielder. Foden has yet to sparkle at international level. Gallagher should not be on the pitch and neither should Mainoo - neither have the ability to pass and control a game like Wharton can.
  16. The annual accounts must be approved by the board of Directors and signed on behalf of the board by a Director. So don't read anything into the fact that it’s Mr Desai's signature.
  17. Other than the desperados seeking new clubs, IMO, we have very little as a club to attract the new players so needed to make our team better. Are we a stable, progressive and ambitious club - think not. Have we a respected manager and coaching team - think not. I think it's going to be a horrible, horrible window and the thought of starting our season with Pears in goal, Gallagher up front and Hyam our captain fills me with dread. Personally, I think Hyam needs kicking out of our club - a captain having a go at fans during a match who have put up with so much shite is beyond the pale; instead, as a captain, he should have been tearing strips off, IMO, his underperforming and cowardly team mates.
  18. We simply need a goalie BETTER than Pears with no fight for jersey necessary. Pears is at best a number 2 at this level. He cost us so many goals and points far outweighing any good saves he may have made. I'll leave you with this thought - if Pears hadn't been so disastrous against SW, to name but one game, the Leicester match, where he made 'that save' you refer to, would have been academic. You backed Pears against Kaminski which has proved totally absurd. Time you became more objective and stopped constantly following the club line and discovered your 'on the road to Damascus' moment!
  19. No, priority is a goalie who doesn't cost us 10 goals / 15 points a season otherwise extra goals from a number 9 could count for very little.
  20. Maybe so but I'll wager it cost us at least £300k including employers national insurance at 12/14%. IMO, not a calculated risk but utter recklessness given the lad's injury record, and nature thereof, over recent times.
  21. You are absolutely right. Balance of his SU contract would have been about £500k gross. IMO, a scandalous waste of our so called 'scarce resources' and for what!? Worse still, seemingly we want to do it all again but presumably on a 12 month contract! IMO, the height of feckin stupidity and indefensible.
  22. Of all the 'mentors' to choose! IMO, makes very little sense to shadow and 'learn' from Waggott (still chuckling) unless Rovers were the only club to provide him with an opportunity to get some 'work experience' in that area.
  23. You just know what will happen. Trains, looks okay and LT report Fleck looking good. Competitive football begins, gets injured, stays injured and represents more money pissed down the drain. Have you ordered any of that 'green moon cheese' which is arriving at leading stores soon?
  24. How feckin depressing. Another young talent very likely to leave. Owen takes a job without knowing his full responsibilities. IMO, plonker written all over him. Fleck - no, no and no. Just when the feck do we ever learn about injury plagued players.
  25. Think Andy Cole would first be asking for repayment of his signing on fee plus compound interest etc. If Cole is right about Waggott snaffling his £30k signing on fee then Waggott would need to cough-up about £70k.
