  1. Football is a funny old game! Stuck £10 in play on Rovers' win at 9/1. Not over until the fat lady sings.
  2. We all have different views! Yep 'Beamo' missed a lot but he never went 'missing in action', continuing to get in the right areas. Hickman wasn't a great footballer, we know that, but my goodness, he had the heart of a lion, an aggression, a physicality and a presence that the opposition didn't like - a Travis on steroids!!!!!!!!!!!!! Gally is a pussycat in comparison and as a minimum needs to put himself about a lot more. As for comparing Gally to the Don - you have to be joking. Don Martin was one of the classiest footballers Rovers had in that era. Looked equally at home as a c/h, c/f or midfielder. Convinced he would have played in Div 1 but for that horrible ankle break which took its toll.
  3. They would all get in!!!: Jones - goalie supreme Heaton - tenacious, terrier like and led by example - would give Brittain the shits one on one Hawkins - Mr dependable, great organiser Faz - very, very good at level of old Divisions 2 & 3 but not quite there for old Div 1 (now PL) Burgin - cool and classy Metcalfe - very good on his day, skillful and tenacious Oates - great athlete who was strong and got around the pitch and weighed in with goals Parkes - you only realised how good he was when he wasn't playing! Beamish - got goals and missed a lot, however, never shirked or hid and got in the right positions to threaten, worth 10 of Gallagher Hickman - tenacity, workrate personified, a physical threat and weighed in with goals Martin - 'the Don', superb classy footballer. Could have played in Division 1 but for that horrible ankle break and was never quite the same That team would get me to Ewood for every home match and many away games. Sadly, IMO, today's bunch is just spineless and mainly 'Eusless' who should be made to watch a video of that epic 1975 encounter against Argyle .
  4. A couple of friends of mine are the same. Intelligent, and usually sensible, folk who just seem either blinded by all the shenanigans or opt to bury their heads in the sand. We have some humdinging discussions especially when the red has been flowing. Just adds to the despair.
  5. Can you imagine Klopp or Pep ever coming out with a statement like that!? Understand what you mean by trying to take the pressure off the players but in my book, it's just another excuse for the players if they don't win - 'relax, it's okay, the gaffer said it was not a must win'. This, IMO, shower of shyte group of players masquerading as footballers need a huge rude awakening Fergie / Souey style.
  6. Pity we are unable to rekindle the spirit of 1975 when Lee's aces came back from 2-0 down to beat Argyle in a 5-2 thriller at Ewood. Hickman (£10,000 signing from Grimsby) who netted a brace wasn't a great player but feck me, he was 100 times more effective than Gallagher. Sounds like Brittain wont be playing and neither will Tronstad according to one of our posters whose brother is a Tronstad neighbour (sorry, can't recall who) and isn't @arbitroalso saying Pears out (what's wrong with him?). Must say, surprised SS got through the match last night as at one stage seemed like he needed to come off (looked like groin to me). Think we will see on Saturday whether Eusless has any nous and spunk. Not holding my breath.
  7. Not a Buckley fan but would agree with you. He was the only one who looked like a footballer tonight.
  8. Birmingham's only mistake was replacing him with Rooney!
  9. Eusless bullsh1tting about a difficult opponent. Feck me, what's he going to say about Leeds, Southampton and Ipswich!?!?
  10. Just don't understand it. Gallagher and Dolan are dross. Unbelievable we didn't take Ipswich offer for Gallagher.
  11. Fecking diabolical. WTF was that corner about with 2/3 minutes to go - just put it in the feckin box instead of p1ssing about. John feckin Eusless has to go - he will take us down. Brittain shut your feckin gob and concentrate on football, Hyam, we pay your feckin wages - just man up and do your job as captain as it's not the fans to blame but you shower of shyte on the field.
  12. Nothing to beat here. Rovers steady. Leo calm and assured! 2-0 to Rovers.
  13. Think everyone should read 'You can if you think you can' by Norman Vincent Peale. Peale was an American clergyman, an inspirational writer and is widely recognised as the 'father of positive thinking'. A lot of today's theories and practices stem from this book. A terrific piece of work.
  14. and also on the red button! A classic night to get your feet up and enjoy a takeaway and a few beers.
  15. Foresight is also a wonderful thing and all half decent management have it! IMO, sadly we don't and it's the result of the constant dumbing down of employees across all departments at Rovers we've seen under present ownership.
  16. How can the signing of a footballer who has hardly kicked a ball in the last 12 months owing to 2 broken leg issues be low risk either physically or financially? Any club with any nous would not have signed a player with such an injury record unless they had got at least half a dozen 60 minute appearances under their belt in the last couple of months. You saw it with Dack, players with serious injuries are always prone to breaking down. As for "Only 5 months contract" - how much do you think that has cost plus his medical surgery / rehab!?!? IMO, anything from £300k to £500k with all costs factored in. The only way it could have been deemed no risk was it Fleck had been signed on a pay as you play basis.
  17. IMO, Ewood and Brockhall are nous free zones. I don't know of one area/department of the club that even ticks the competence boxes let alone thinking out of the box and achieving stretching targets.
  18. Agree, think JE trying to blindside Millwall!
  19. Understand his garden is blooming! Hopefully, we've seen the last of him.
  20. Very much doubt it. The way teams are picking up points even 50 (11 more points) may not be enough. 11 games to go and think we will need either 4 wins and a draw or 3 wins and 4 draws to have a half decent chance of staying up. Based on our form over the last 3 months that is one helluva tall order.
  21. Said it before, our medical / sports science department needs looking at. IMO, something seriously wrong with the number of injuries we pick up and the length of time it takes to get players back. Think it's just another example of how our club has been dumbed down. Signing of Fleck was diabolically amateurish. Had barely kicked a ball for 12 months following two broken leg issues. We shouldn't have touched him with a barge pole. Our medics and Broughton, IMO, need bollicking at the very least, if not sacking.
  22. and if we don't? Think a 'must win' game is over used and mainly used incorrectly. A 'must win' game is a one-off game where there is something at stake ie win the game and avoid the drop. Obviously, tomorrow's match is so important - a draw as a minimum, a win highly desirable. It's not all over if we lose but it would make the task of staying up even more difficult. Agree - ironically, it was Coyle who got the best out of Gallagher!
  23. Garrett is a colossus in comparison to Moran. We need lads who are up for a fight.
