  2. In fairness to the EFL there is not a lot they could do, the current owners took over prior to the Worcester Warriors debacle, and the information on Goldrings involvement only came to light after initial takeover. The dissolving of companies is commonplace and the compulsory striking off isn't as severe as it sounds. You can't bar someone on the basis of having been involved in lots of companies. I would guess if you looked across the EFL there are lots of 'good' owners who have similar number of appointments as directors to companies, etc. It's the nature of business creating shell companies and group companies to shield business people's personal wealth if the shit hits the fan. There are a lot of things I don't feel sorry for with the EFL however on ownership I do feel their hands are often tied in terms of removing owners. Football clubs are privately owned businesses, the EFL don't have the power/right (nor should they or any other membership body) to start telling private businesses how to operate. Whilst football is a very different business, it still has to operate within company law and the minute we start saying a membership body can start dictating to businesses how they operate we open the floodgates to all manner of things in the wider business world. As someone who has spent a lot of time at Christie Park and the Mazuma it's looking very bleak, I employ couple of lads who are scholars in the U18's/21's and they're playing their last game today having not been paid for 9 weeks! The only viable option now is a phoenix club operating in NW Counties from 26/27 onward
  3. Never been so bored during a transfer window. Thanks Rudy.
  4. He is good at holding the ball up, getting free kicks and playing in others. He has looked fitter in pre-season, but doesent have the workload needed. Could work interim as a 30-45 minute cameo.
  5. Today
  6. To be fair the CBs might die laughing if you run Cantwell out there at CF, so it could be effective.
  7. I started going to the Rovers in the very early 70s so missed the likes of Duggie and Ronnie. I'm gonna be greedy and pick two teams, the first one a lower league Rovers best-ever and the second one from the Premier League era. Lower league: Sir Roger Jones Chris Price Kevin Moran Derek Fazackerley Kevin Hird Noel Brotherston Simon Barker Gordon Cowans Dave Wagstaffe Simon Garner David Speedie Premier League: Brad Friedel Henning Berg Colin Hendry Ryan Nelsen Graeme Le Saux David Bentley Tugay David Batty Damian Duff Alan Shearer Craig Bellamy
  8. I'm available at 67, i still know we're the net is.😄
  9. Why would we wait until January? He's playing in the Swiss league and we have two CMs that didn't make it till January 2025 before their bodies broke down, and another two in Tavares and Forshaw who are both entering the new season with injuries. Heart says try and get Baradji in, but head says change targets and bring in someone different. Mannsverk is a good, solid option.
  10. I'd like a third CF, but getting those two service is more important (unless you're going to drop a fantastic, do it all, CF in my lap).
  11. Recruitment is not good enough full stop,we are not strengthening this side to challenge for outright Promotion nor the top six. That's the painful truth in the cold light of Day and we all know it. We're all just Clutching at Straws..'just enough' is the Project mantra and that's yer lot!
  12. Tyjon, Cantwell can play there as can probably AK. Our squad is quite versatile.
  13. Would anyone’s all time best 11 change if it had to fit our current system/style of play?
  14. and if one or both get injured / suspended! Absolute folly to think we have Leonard in reserve - needs loaning out to League 1 or 2 to see if he's fully recovered, can put a run of games together and can find the onion bag a few times! He's no longer a youngster at 22 and 25ish senior games over 4 years is pitiful. Time for the lad to sh1t or get off the pot!
  15. Perhaps they see Pickering as being the fifth centre back.
  16. ha fair. My bad. You are indeed correct. They just got even worse when the takeover was completed.
  17. It's more 2 of the 4 being injured. I'd say it's quite likely that Carter and Wharton are injured at the same time. Leaving us just McLoughlin and Hyam to play every minute of every game and hoping they don't get suspended. Last season we at least had Sanderson to call upon if required when Wharton and Carter were both out injured for the long term.
  18. No.plans to strengthen our strike force, Ohashi and Gueye weren't prolific scorers last season. I would have gone for another striker in the transfer market.
  19. Even if/when Brittain departs,, both Duru and Alebiosu are also both very attacking options on the right, (and presumably if a replacement is signed for Brittain, he will also be a more attacking full back). I am not saying if they are of the required quality or not, but they are all full backs/wing backs who will push very high up and hold the width on the right. It does look as though that is how Ismael is gearing the side up to play this season, which would not require a traditional wide right player. Although that being said, I would still like to see one signed so that we have options to change things up. I just don't think it will happen
  20. Flowers Le Saux Berg Hendry Nelsen Duff Ripley Tugay Sherwood Shearer Bellamy
  21. It depends on your full back. Brittain's willingness and ability to get to the byline, overlapping the winger, means a left footed to cut in offers the option of shooting or a inswinging cross. Both of our LBs don't have the same engine for getting forward so it makes sense to have a direct winger to get to the byline to cross.
  22. Transfermarkt lists his game time at Yverdon as box-box CM/DM and some games on the right wing, presumably for his engine and coming inside. Would be typical of us to have him cover both and not sign an actual winger. I think we do need a proper right footed winger, as Hedges will already cut in on his left. The aim should be what we in theory have on the left, where De Neve uses his pace to get past RB and then cross with left, while Kargbo can come on and cut inside on his right.
  23. He could make his league debut at Accrington on Saturday.
  24. Here is some background to the situation at Morecambe. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/c860979gg64o Once again the EFL have failed with their due diligence to protect a club through their laughable Fit and Proper test. Who knows where Morecambe will now end up as it seems unlikely they will play in any league next season.
  25. Senior moment from me there. 😉 I got Grimsby and Gillingham mixed up, Gilsenan is at Grimsby, Cirino at Gillingham with Ainsworth & Dack
  26. Agreed- I thought Cirino looked a great prospect from the limited coverage I saw of him. Gareth Ainsworth is the Gills boss now. He could have two far above L2 gems if he they can keep injury free.
