Valérien Ismaël: Blackburn Rovers Head Coach
wilsdenrover replied to DE.'s topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
The only reason they’d sack him now is to create an excuse for not making any signings. -
Well Charlton now above us and with Norwich’s win we are 3 points off the drop zone
-
Seems Coventry and Boro have had mini implosions but the former has such a cushion they are still 8 points clear at the top

Agreed. Surely it's time for Radio Lancs to go back to his comment on the squad being stronger than last year. -

Just seen McFadz has been sent off for Chesterfield. He'd be our best CH if he was still here. -

I'm all for questioning our medical department; however, what needs serious questioning (for instance, from the BBC) is Ismael and Gestede, who decided to get rid of proven championship players and replace them with players not used to the intensity of the league. When you start picking up injuries, you will have to rely on academy players, who are also not used to the intensity. And then there is no stopping the slippery slope that was self-inflicted. Ismael receives far, far too little stick for being aligned to this project. I have no other word to describe this than disgraceful. -

Down to 20th, just 3 points off the drop, Norwich improving. We're in serious, serious trouble. -

Given the quoted prices for most of them, it smacks of the agent shenanigans that happened the year before we got relegated to League 1. Methinks Suhail having complete control both times might be related... -
JRC with the equaliser for Charlton at home to Frank Lampard's Coventry City.

To defend them to some degree, Litherland, isnt. He’s not kicked a ball in men’s football and has been required to play at wing back, one of the most physically demanding positions 4 times in 10 days. The physical load being put on a squad that is thin at the best of times was always going to reach a tipping point. For some players with underlying issues that elastic snapping ones earlier than others -

With what appeared to be (at least) 1 soft tissue injury today for Litherland you really do have to question our strength and conditioning team within the medical department. The number of players sidelined by pulls and strains suggests these players aren't physically prepared for the rigours of a league season and that's firmly on the S & C team. -

It's another setback in terms of the result. I can't complain about the boys, they tried to go again, it was just a lack of energy today. "We lost the game in the first half. We conceded the first goal, we can avoid it. The second goal is a great shot. "We tried to find some energy for the second half and it was much better. We lost two players again today, and it's clear we've touched the limit with the squad” Bland platitudes. I wouldn't run through a paper mache door for that dour bore. -

JRC equalises for Charlton against Coventry. -
We also lost to Portsmouth and drew with Oxford so, yeah, wouldn't be confident we will finish the season above any of them at this point. As far as Oxford are concerned, much will depend on who they hire, although I expect they'll go down regardless.
-
The most galling thing was they didn’t need to try that hard to win.

Charlton absolutely spanked us off the park earlier this season. I also have a funny feeling they’ll be leaving Ewood with all 3 points on Sunday. -

The January 2026 Transfer Window

The summer recruitment save for Alebiosu and Gudjhonsen was criminal. A blind man with no interest in football could have selected better off the continent than the likes of Tavares and Henriksson.
