BRFCS Player of the Season - 2024/25 ⚪️🔵
Mattyblue replied to Herbie6590's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Tronstadt POTY for the wider fanbase and that cesspit of negativity brfcs. Thoughts, Rev? Still sticking to he’s poor/average/slightly better than Corry Evans line? How about you you put your hands up that you got this one wrong and we’ll have an amnesty - I.e folk can’t keep raking your former opinion up either? Fair? -
That’s different than a catchment area. A catchment area is where you are the main player in a town/in borough(s) etc. We obviously aren’t in Cheshire and Cumbria. Doesn’t mean we don’t have fans further afield, of course we do, now more than ever with the demographic change in Blackburn - but we also don’t have the luxury of being the only show in town in a 20/30 mile radius like so many other clubs do.
-
Carter's injuries have come at the wrong time for him and the club. He was really pushing on for a PL bid - now we'll keep hold of him, I think he's missed his window.
-
I’ve still not renewed. For me to spend my hard earned cash again, they’ve got to sort the contracts out of the regular starters and start the season with a stronger squad, which means making around 3 Championship quality signings. If they don’t do that, I won’t be going.
-
That was Broughton's plan - and it makes sense on our budget, but yeah you can't have any passengers in that 18. Hedges, Forshaw, Buckley, JRC et al would have to go.

Same time as us so could have been around the back of yours playing in Knudsen brook field. Small world -
I'm not sure why everyone is obsessed with the CB being left footed. Can he pass the ball accurately 15-20 yards to a teammate? Great, I don't care what foot he does it with.

The catchment area is huge - we have fans from Cheshire and Cumbria. The problem is we no longer market to them - hell we no longer market to fans out of the Borough, even though that's where a good number come from. -

Commentary on this (1950 one) refers to the keeper saving multiple penalties… -

No need to apologise. I didn't give my opinion. But personally I'd have Brittain down for 4th. Travis 2nd. Him and Tronstad have been the fulcrum of the team, and when either was out we massively struggled. Same can be said for Batth, without whom the defence became porous. Brittain has been excellent, with great contributions (5 assists and 2 goals from his position in 30 odd games is very good going), but I don't think the team has been quite as reliant on him as the other three. And remember the score is based on match by match scores given by board members rather than just an end of season vote. I certainly see the argument for Brittain being in the top 3 though. I can't imagine he was far behind. -
Replying to my own post (!) and here it is!! Its 1950! Look at that crowd and weep.

Memory issues come to us all -can't remember what scores were a week ago but can remember stuff from 50 years ago. As to walking into a room and then forgetting why I am there.....;-)

He still has the programme from the game. It's in Latin 😁

I've just looked it up as a result of what you wrote and we didn't play them 1949 at all. We did 47-8 and we did 49-50 so I'm assuming out must have been one of them. My Dad spoke of it a few times, I never queried it. He must have got the date wrong. That's a bugger, I was brought up on that story.

Im pinning all of my hopes and dreams on the fact that they do not seem to want to have any large contractual obligations beyond the summer of 2027 ( O'Riordan & Atcheson - both 2028 would not be on big contracts) -

2025 Summer Transfer Thread. 😂

Now we are moving towards that spell where people share any sort of rumour regardless of credibility. This is one source we can discount. A player out for most of next season injured.
