It is pretty widely known there have been a number of approaches to V's over the years about a sale, or part sale, of the club. I cannot recall one 'official' acknowledgement of this so don't hold your breath. -

When was the last first team player to sign a new contract (because they were going to stay and not to help club maintain their value)? -

Acquisition details below - ultimately they paid £21 million for a business which was revalued at £35 million. They got a very good deal, and proceeded to completely fuck it up… -

Having better squads is all the more reason they should have been capable of goals. Those appearance stats really do mean sod all. Starting in different countries, Gueye isn't close to done with his career. Comparing apples and oranges. Nothing cast iron about it. In fact most people seem to disagree with you. If you would pick strikers who never score then I'm glad you're not the manager. Brown is the worst striker to have had as many games as he has at Rovers in my lifetime. -

Did we really have class acts like Szmodics and Wharton playing for Rovers? Seems light years now from the current dross in blue and white -

Whilst these are back of a fag packet, information like this is what the LET should be honing in on, researching, and reporting for all to see. Could also be very valuable for the coalition to do some digging. One of the most frequently trotted out arguments for the current ownership is that they can't possibly spend money because of PSR/FFP. -

I think it was Eddie who absolutely nailed Gestede in a podcast about there only being a limited window of opportunity to reinvest due to FFP rules. Gestede couldn't answer that and merely kept repeating a lame excuse about how the transfer budget for the year was unaffected no matter how many sales were made. Which is utterly bizarre when you think about it. -

A lot of our players sign reasonable contracts. 2-3 year deals with an option are pretty standard these days, but we just can't get them to renew. We seem to be operating with a mindset that players will routinely renew within the final 6 months of their deal on similar terms (if not worse terms). That just doesn't happen these days. -

Because most of the money has been spent on wages and other running costs. Admittedly most of the little that has been spent has been wasted. -

To add to my previous post. Our recent operating losses have been reasonably constant at around £17.5 million. £17.5 million x 3 = £52.5 million Allowable 3 year loss for FFP = £39 million player trading profit needed for compliance = £13.5 million Bare with me 😁😁 Venkys London accounts have player trading profit for 23/24 + 24/25 at a combined £36.8 million. Based on those ‘back of a fag packet’ workings, we could have a net transfer spend of circa £23.3 million this year and still be FFP compliant. That’s before you take into account the removal of exempt expenses such as ground maintenance (ha!). Clearly those figures won’t be bang on but hopefully it demonstrates how far from breaching FFP we currently are. Of course if we spent that much and didn’t go up it would come back to bite us (as the Wharton and Sammie money disappears from the calculations). -

Absolutely incredible to think about the degradation of the squad after selling two players for a total £40m. The reinvestment has been absolutely appalling, and has left us with very few saleable assets (Alebiosu and maybe Gudjohnsen). There is absolutely zero legacy from selling them. -

If he is going to come good in a sub-championship league, we should have held onto him. -
Valérien Ismaël: Blackburn Rovers Head Coach
RevidgeBlue replied to DE.'s topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
There's some mental gymnastics going on there to try and shift blame away from Ismael. So what is it that makes you think he's doing a decent job? Because we're (currently) a few points outside the relegation zone? Will you change that view if he takes us down? -

I actually thought De Neve had a decent game by his standards at Hull he's far more suitable for pressing high than defending. Creatively though we must have the worst forward line in the league. -

I'm saying the club could have said to Ismael you can't bring in another striker as you already have 4.We want Tyjon to be part of the squad this season. Gueye we didn't get a buy for him I think it is logical to think that Gestede wouldn't have wanted him sold at a loss as it would have reflected badly on him. Quite clear In the managers thoughts he only had 2 CAPABLE forwards. Tyjon hardly involved and when Geuye did get a chance he spent it straying offside or throwing his hands in the air at his teammates. -

But a minute ago you said we had 4 strikers. You're contradicting your own points and having lost the argument you've nothing left to fall back on but resort to insults. I still can't see what it is about this guy that makes you leap to his defence. He almost couldnt possibly be doing any worse than anyone else could he, whether it be League position, performances or the state of the squad. -

FFP is a rolling three year cycle. Wharton was sold during the 23-24 accounting period so 25-26 will be the last year to include his fee. Sammie was sold during the 24-25 accounting period so 26-27 will be the last year to include his. -

Nope that was pure Nixon spin the fee is alleged to be c1 million Euro's which is presumably about what was paid for him. No doubt plenty add ons involved so i look forward to many future payments when he suddenly turns into this mythical goal machine in a sub championship standard league. -

It looks a bit odd to me, as if the players have been superimposed on the background, typical of AI, and I don't think it was 1966 as I'm sure the V-neck shirts had long been replaced by round neck shirts by then. Liked Mike Harrison. Saw him leaving the bookshop at Sudell Cross and getting into his VW Beetle circa 1967. Natty dresser and trendy car at the time. -
Valérien Ismaël: Blackburn Rovers Head Coach

Why turn down a transfer offer from Arsenal then if the CLUB not Ismael didn't expect him to play a part. If we don't sell him this window we will get fuck all for him and the only chance he was going to sign contract was by getting first team chances .Sorry but he looks far away from being able to contribute at championship level -

Chris Brown was a similar kind of player, playing in a team that played more to his strengths with Conway being an assist machine and he scored 0 goals and his only notable contribution was a red card against Newport County! Gueye is admittedly a donkey but got half a dozen goals and a number of assists last season, goals that won games at that. It’s not revisionist to suggest he’s been better for us than Brown (never mind the likes of Edinho Junior, Fode Koita and many others) -
Valérien Ismaël: Blackburn Rovers Head Coach
islander200 replied to DE.'s topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Yes its all ismaels fault. Gueye is shit Tyjon is far from ready to be playing championship football. And Leonard was a club decision I am not having that Ismaels idea. Seriously your thinking is warped. Its not the owners fault its Waggotts. The owners gave a hefty budget to be used in the January of Mowbrays last season but Mowbray turned it down.
