  1. Past hour
  2. January or not if the big 6 thought they could get a good deal on a player then they would have been in for him.If they where really rating Wharton and thought 18 million was a bargain they would not have cared it was January. I don't think Wharton was having a very good season ,moments of pure class and quality but in the main certainly December onwards our midfield was being over run and we were conceding a lot and losing I think we would have got a few million more if sold in the summer with other clubs joining the race it wouldnt have been big 6 in for him nor would we have received bids of £30 million like some people here believe
  3. Same, I just want Adam Wharton to do well in his career. Just feels different him coming through the ranks than it normally does. Also, how the fuck have we not been to the new Wembley, so frustrating.
  4. It is, hope he’s developed a bit of a thicker skin as he’ll need it running a L2 club! 😄
  5. Yeah 3 part timers with 3 jobs each or maybe an AI app is now the player liason officer, cheaper is always better the Waghail motto.
  6. I think this is the JoeH used to post on here. I didn't always agree with his posts but he has done well for himself and good luck to him.
  7. The fact the elite clubs didn’t bid says how raw he still was, they didn’t fancy dropping 17 million or whatever then and there for a squad player, unlike a Phillips that was a bit of pocket money for Tottenham - so as I say a normal club wouldn’t have been selling as you aren’t getting the price his potential would obviously lead to. Parish spotted it and could offer first team PL football whilst he was at it.
  8. Adam was watched regularly by the top six PL clubs and I really think that one of them would have made a move in the summer. However we needed money quickly, Palace knew this and low balled us in the relatively safe knowledge we would accept.
  9. Especially one as successful as him!
  10. Come on, teams look beyond England under 21 caps. Those squads tend to be dominated by big clubs. It was January. Teams dont tend to spend much in that window. He would have been a more developed player come the summer, proving his talent more. But even if it was only still Palace in for him. They took advantage because we couldnt wait to kick him out of the door. Say 6 months further into his development, in the more active summer market, and crucially assuming we werent desperate and distressed sellers. You genuinely think none of them make a difference?
  11. But all the other clubs knew what he was available and none of the big clubs bit, if he was being rated externally as he should have been the big 6 would have been falling over themselves to sign him for that money . They could have done that deal they ain't weren't gonna come in in the summer and pay much more for him He also wasn't being involved at under 21 level yer man from Bournemouth had 2 senior caps and loads of big teams after him, if it wasn't for the release clause Bournemouth would have got more money for him
  12. So this £20m investment per season, is looking very much like a myth, unless people from the early days, are still getting a cut.
  13. I hope he rips it up today and MoM. What we get in future transfer fees is immaterial but as he's one of the best of "one of our own" and a true blue who wasn't looking for a move, I can only wish him all the best and hope today showcases his class. Again, not a fan of Palace (I was at the game) but they have got some very exciting players to watch, and also - fuck City.
  14. Which is exactly what we sold him for. Palace knew we were desperate and low balled us - Parrish all but admitted that and even threatened to pull out of the deal because he knew we would capitulate.
  15. I think he got a long contract and payrise after a cameo period in a sort of false 9 and thought he was the main man then the lip came out when he realised he wasn't. He should use Tronstad as his role model.
  16. Because it was too early in his development, he hadn’t even become a top week in week out performer in the Championship yet, ergo a normal club wouldn’t be selling there and then when his potential was off the scale, they’d wait and pick their opportune moment - we aren’t, so we did, end of story.
  17. Today
  18. It's usually a higher fee and lower sell on, or a lower fee and a higher sell on, as in Armstrongs case. It remains to be seen how much the club receives, time will tell. I'm wondering if Rovers benefit from a Palace win today. For all the disappointment with the initial Raya fee, we ended up with more than anyone could have expected.
  19. Yep, he's now 25 and has been given chances under 4 managers now. Eustace hoped giving him the armband might be the making of him but it only worked for like 2 games. He might end up at another championship club this summer but unless he sorts out whatever his issue is, he'll be dropping down the leagues in another couple of seasons.
  20. What we think doesn't matter no club is paying £50 million for Wharton from a championship club. After 30 games in the prem he is worth more than £50 million. The lad Bournemouth have just sold looks excellent and had many big clubs in for him alongside Madrid.None of these clubs came in for Wharton when he was available for a pittance for a player of his quality
  21. Wasn't Ismael supposed to have a 3 month clause ? Maybe the eastleigh guy thought it better to wait.
  22. You're probably correct. They shunted Lowe to another role or something, assumed he was now back as a coach again. Who knows, can't keep up these days. Classic Venkys that, you can have that guy as a coach, as long as he resigns so we pay no compo 🤡
  23. It isn't an obsession over under 21 caps it's a valid argument. If he was being seen as the best young player/best young midfielder in the country/outside the premier league he would have been making those squads no question. I can't understand what you don't get here...the under 21s is supposedly for the best of that age group Wharton didn't make one squad so quite clearly he wasn't being rated externally as he should have been. January or not if he was as rated as he should have been then more than Palace would have been in for him at that price. What was stopping all the big clubs taking him?
  24. How is answering no directly to a yes or no question a cop out?
  25. Without tenacity and hard graft his so called talent means nothing and hes never shown enough of any of it. Ability wise handy back up player but attitude wise he's an absolute liability constantly used as a sub. If he was truly any good as some think he is he'd have taken one of his numerous chances or been snapped up by someone else. If we'd paid money for this lad he'd have been branded a resounding flop before now but he gets away with it because he came through the ranks.
  26. Jesus christ that's embarrassing. With all the money we have brought in. And right after getting compo for Eustace and Ismael for no compo. Pathetic. What if that extra coaching had got our shit together one game earlier and landed us in the playoffs? This club are the absolute masters of false economy.
