Rovers's January transfer needs

I can see why a data driven approach would show De Neve, Tavares and Henriksson as potentially good signings. They all (currently) fail the eye test though. -

The likelihood of him controlling the ball was high, having not touched the ball is a red herring. A couple of yards ahead is enough for me for him to run clear. He was running quickly and the Ipswich player would have struggled to legally get a challenge in. 30 yards out is close enough given the circumstances ie in front of the Ipswich player. It wasn't too dissimilar to the incident when Greaves was sent off in the abandoned game and I can't recall too much debate about that. -

For balance, like Arbitro, I didn’t think the Yuki incident was a penalty. From my seat, I thought it was a foul but outside the box. -

I think it's called fairness. The ref was awful, whatever anyone thinks of Ismael... -

What the f is he doing maybe he should spend some time making notes on HOW TO MANAGE A GAME just watch Chelsea vs Arsenal and see how Chelsea slowed down the game and sucked Arsenal into fouls, come on Ismael -

In the JWL, bang in line with it. No doubt in anyone’s mind with that view point that it was a clear red card. -

Fair enough, just goes to show how where we are in the ground means we sometimes see things very differently. For example, from where I was last night, I couldn't see that the foul on Ohashi was in the box, so wasn't that upset during the game as I wasn't aware until Valerian ranted about it at FT. -

Bloody hell, Tronstad is hopeless and Miller even worse. Now you’re arguing with a fair minded Board member who has refereed at the highest level. What’s the view like from up there 🤷♂️ -
I mean you’re the expert. But from where I’m sitting, the ball wasn’t even on the ground, Morishita hadn’t touched it yet, he was maximum a couple of feet ahead of the defender and was about 30 yards from goal. If the ball was at his feet and he was sprinting towards goal ahead of the defenders then I’d totally agree, but given he still had to take the ball down, control it and move 15-20 yards with it before shooting, I think a yellow is fair.

I actually thought there was more anger about this incident than I have seen at Ewood for a long time. I sit in the JW Upper towards the Darwen End and there was genuine anger towards the referee. The boos at half-time told it's own story to me. In a strange way though I thought it really lifted the atmosphere and the crowd, after being understandably quiet for several home games really got behind the team in an almost siege mentality. -

On the 'last man, red card' incident, I saw it from the back corner of the Blackburn End. It wasn't the best view in the ground, but no one around me seemed particularly angry and upset when a yellow card was brandished rather than a red one. From where I was stood, it wasn't clear he was definitely the last man or that it was a clear goalscoring opportunity, there wasn't the chants of "off off off" etc. Having seen it again, I can see why it wasn't given. -
Valérien Ismaël: Blackburn Rovers Head Coach
roversfan99 replied to DE.'s topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Its fine to have a whinge about the clear mistake surrounding the red card. To come out with a pre prepared list of refereeing mistakes across the season in the immediate aftermath of the game, imply a lack of integrity and a bias for whatever reason to Ipswich, that is unnecessary. -

One thing surely people can agree on is the standard of refereeing in this league? It's disgusting, and if I ever see Oliver Langford at Ewood again this season. He'll be getting told what I think of him -

He can't do anything right on a football pitch. Thats the issue. He isn't being scapegoated. People are just sick of seeing an incompetent and lazy player come on and offer nothing. He is terrible. -

To varying degrees. Alebiosu has been consistently very good. Gudjohnsen might not offer much in general play but strikers need to score goals and he keeps getting them, another success. The others are much more mixed. Morishita flits in and out, has ability but often ineffective. McLoughlin is average. Miller can be decent but has a mistake in him and is poor on the ball. TGH, barely average. Forshaw has done well in the last 2 although last night only lasted 55 minutes and youd be hard pushed to suggest hes been a success overall. The thing is, we have signed far too many who are not only underwhelming, they are absolutely nowhere near it. A squad cant afford to have so many players signed that are as bad as some of ours are. You often resort to suggesting that people are negative out of desperation. I can say that there were elements of our performance that were good last night. Contrary to your suggestion on the Ismael thread, I was also very annoyed to see only a yellow card shown when I think it had to be a red card. Im not going to parrot Ismael and imply that referees favour Ipswich, thats conspiracy nonsense. And I dont think Ohashi should have had a penalty, as much as I would have taken it. But we were hard done by with the missed red card, it was poor officiating. There isnt going to be a sudden influx of brilliant referees, the only realistic solution to such situations would be VAR. All of that to me is outweighed by the annoyance I felt coming away having seen us chuck away 2 points, conceding late AGAIN, watching the same horrendous subs (obviously not Cantwell) look out of their depth. Red card or no red card, we had the lead going into injury time, and under our control, we managed to fuck it up. You like Ismael seem keen to gloss over that completely and pin all of the blame on the referee, going down the woe is me route. We still had the win in our hands and threw it away. Again. Thats the concern to me, and thats the route of most of my annoyance. -
