if you are talking about Hyam, people didn't want him as captain. People have short memories. Wasn't Wharton second in line and the right vice captain. is Tronstad captain material? McLoughlin got the armband cos he was the most senior player on the pitch, so who should have got the armband then? I was the first to mention Cantwell becoming Captain even before he did. I mentioned what Warnock did with Taarabt as captain. what is a natural captain these days in football? I made I have said already on here, we need a number of signings this window -

Not sure if true, but would not be a surprise. Could probably add Cantwell to that list also. -

How much of our injury issues are down to us having: inadequate cover for a position (centre back) where we have players who are known to be injury prone? players Ismael is/was reluctant to use because they don’t suit the system we’ve changed to or are clearly not good enough? 25 players (+ under 21s) seems enough to me IF they’re of sufficient quality AND the squad is balanced for the system(s) you wish to play. -

Anyone know if the rumours of Rovers contacting clubs to see if they’re interested in Alebiosu, Gudjonson and Toth are true? -
The FA Cup certainly drew bigger crowds than league games back in the day. In the 1952 run to the semi final, I well remember nicking off school (and happily taking the inevitable punishment), for a 3rd round replay against Forest. It was before floodlights, so an early Wednesday afternoon kick off, and the gate was around 35,000. The 4th round attracted a home gate of about 45,000 against Hull. That was followed by home games against West Brom and Burnley with full houses of over 50,000

After ending his comments last night about Wilcox and the hierarchy, the writing was on the wall. He has been those comments similar for the last 2 weeks. Wilcox wouldn't have the authority to sack him on his own. That decision has been made at the top by the 3 key people. I do think he wanted sacking. He wanted signings this window and they didn't want to make major signings this window above him If I was United's DoF I would be going for Bournemouth's Andoni Iraola or Palace's Oliver Glasner.

You can’t see how us doing so on a limited budget (in relation to those we were competing with) shows that you can compete on a limited budget if the senior management etc is competent? -

Any other Club in this league would be looking to replace Ryan Hedges if he was fit and available for selection. Embarrassing. Absolutely tinpot as usual. -

We won a major trophy and qualified for Europe with the Walker Trust so I can't see why you think that. -

No that's helpful thanks, wasn't so much me expexting a Rovers farce as it just being a bit close to the wire, especially when it usually goes through the various tiers of sale based on points too - not that it will be a sell out! -

https://www.rovers.co.uk/news/2026/january/05/injury-update--ryan-hedges/ Ismael seems to be suggesting we’ll only look for a Hedges replacement if he’s out for more than 8 weeks. -
If he was the next big thing at that age why wasn't he picked for the England age group teams as an academy player ? He had to wait until he was playing first team football.

Not much happening then? I've honestly no idea where we're looking to strengthen, targets, budget etc. Can't recall ever feeling as disconnected with the Club as I have this season, just doesn't feel like the Blackburn Rovers i've always known and loved. Expect they'll sell anyone worth a few quid this window... Alebiosu, Tronstad and Tyjon seem likely to go. If they choose to even replace them, it'll no doubt be cheap foreign dross or loan players other Clubs don't want. The current state of the Club saddens me, relegation seems pretty much nailed on. -
🙏 Hopefully they move for club legend Wayne Rooney as their new gaffer.

Therein lies part of the problem though. Who do we see as having a long term future at Rovers ? -

Imagine being fired by the genius thst is Jason Wilcox ! It looks like he’d had enough and told Wilcox his future. Maybe he wanted to be fired ? Who’s next for the hot seat ? The problem is endemic at Utd. It won’t matter who they get in next. It’s a bit like us with the Chicken Chokers -
Given that EVs are now already considerably cheaper than ICE cars for anyone who has access to charging either at home and/or work, if this development comes off it's pretty much a death knell for ICE vehicles.
