If Pears has any confidence in himself, and the hierarchy truly want him gone, then mutual termination might be best for him and the club. I suppose it depends on whether the club think they can eventually get a fee for him either in January or next summer that recoups the wages lost paying a player who they have no intention of putting on the pitch. The sensible option would be to reintegrate him as second choice, obviously, as he's not going anywhere until January at the earliest and the only other goalkeeper at the club with proper senior experience.

So beyond all the bonkers - who's playing RB and CB if we get injuries? I assume now that Carter and McLoughlin are the preferred starters at CB. Is Miller the immediate backup to Carter and Wharton to McLoughlin? Who plays RB if Carter and Alebiosu pick up a knock? Gardner-Hickman? We've already seen Montgomery can't play there.

Hedges still starting games is criminal. I'd also expect Gudjohnsen to quickly displace Ohashi - he'll offer far more upfront.

I think Buckley is easier to like for a particular sort of person (including me) in that he's not a typical modern footballer. He's unpredictable, highly talented and skilled in a way that you often have a hard time wrapping your head around, but also uneven and seemingly a bit lazy or dispassionate. Modern football is becoming more and more uniform by the year with players seeming more and more like robots, and Buckley stood against that.

I think by the bye most supermarket meat is killed exactly the same way, just one with a prayer. If you're going ethical routes then Kosher is probably the worst. In fairness, that is only true for around 12% of halal slaughter (a figure I saw recently, but I’d have to dig out a source). Overwhelmingly, halal slaughter in Britain does still involve stunning the animal. But even if the ‘risk’ of 12% is too high for some, I’d understand.
