  1. Past hour
  2. A manager of mine once told me (with a straight face) that being made redundant at 45, having not long moved house to take the job, was “an exciting opportunity for me…”
  3. Improving isn’t the goal. Cost cutting is the prime objective…hopefully whilst avoiding relegation. But…
  4. He’s just been mentioned on Guardian Weekly podcast as one to watch…
  5. There aren’t many lower division clubs that break even…our role model now therefore is possibly Rotherham Utd. Roll up…buy your season tickets now…
  6. Just been reading about Sheffield Wednesday, on 20th December 2024 with no notice their early bird season tickets went on sale and they had until 4th January 2025 to buy before the prices went up. The cheapest ticket was £460 but the rest at least £570. Currently in their South stand it is £701 for a season ticket. Some of their games this season the cheapest matchday price is £45. One of their stands has now been shut down through lack of upkeep. 17 players have left this summer, no arrivals. . Their owner is probably worse than ours ......... just.
  7. I made a breakdown of the numbers earlier in this thread regarding wage cuts. My figures are based on a few assumptions but I think it's fair to say the wages were slashed in the region of 100K pounds per week at least. We don't know if the transfer fees were paid upfront in full or if they're made in instalments but nothing suggests that the entirety of these payments couldn't have been made directly as a result of said wage cuts. It's entirely possible that a player like McLoughlin commanded a decent sign-on fee but the other three are young players with less experience and coming from smaller clubs than ours relatively speaking. We are looking in the bargain basement for players on the cheap and desperate for a move. Hull are under a transfer embargo and Kortrijk got relegated. Baradji, who we are after, got relegated with Yverdon Sport as well. Don't think it's all a coincidence.
  8. What a preposterous notion! That will never be sustainable 😉
  9. According to pretty much all sources reporting the Brittain to boro move, they are all saying it’s his preferred destination. And of course that would make sense also Derby aren’t going to pay near 4million no chance
  10. I think any run of the mill or young manager or head coach will take the first serious job offered to them if they've been out of work a while and aren't multi millionaires. As said it's a no lose situation as you get big rewards if successful and rewarded anyway for failure, many of them are only in it for a wage and because they know nothing else. Whenever has anyone heard of a club never being able to attract a first team boss ?
  11. This will now force Derby's hand. Think they have been playing something of a waiting game whilst busy elsewhere in the market. Time for them to sh1t or get off the pot. Don't think this is over yet.
  12. I think people prefer the third option - renewing the contracts of our key players.
  13. Yeah, true. Also it's a can't lose situation.
  14. Correct we don't have to sell. But then everyone complains about players leaving on a free.
  15. Wait how is it a ‘blow’? We don’t have to sell if we didn’t want to
  16. Not sure this was the case. I can't see how, if we were saving say £50k a week (which may be an over-estimate) once those players left, we suddenly have the funds for their down payments, agent's fees, their wages and signing on fees.
  17. They used to be available after a week or so. Just recently it seems to be anywhere between 2-4 weeks for some reason. There will be nothing worth viewing in there anyway. Hopefully Glen will come on and give us a decent recap when they have been published.
  18. Today
  19. Oh I know it alright 🤣 Was just thinking if he's going go. I can accept it albeit slightly disgruntled, but that needs to go on a striker more than anything really
  20. If you watch it on fullscreen on a laptop (and maybe zoom in), you can see him scoring a belter from just past the halfway line. Keeper wasn't even that far off his line, and probably should have done better tbf, but there are some top players who've failed to hit the target from that distance their whole careers. Kane has tried it a lot and I think only scored one or two. What amused me was the complete lack of reaction from the coaches on the sideline. I think it's the opposition's coaches, but still, you'd think nothing had happened at all.
  21. How he had the fucking balls to say that, I'll never know.
  22. Only if they handed their notice in. I think all of the U21's, so most of their current squad now, were paid.
  23. They have had no interest since they arrived 15/16 years ago , we were nearly relegated in their first season , after being 10th when they arrived .They achieved their goal , the season after ! We are going down !
  24. Rovers and Sheff Weds thrashing out a transfer deal. Can you even imagine?
  25. All pretty pointless and a waste of everyone's time isn't it? Yet they still expect us to pay competitive Championship prices to watch it. Roll up roll up £35 to sit on the Blackburn End against Birmingham!
