I don't deny that Mercer's information that contact might have been made, or that there are interested parties out there. The thing I just don't see happening is venkys letting go of this club, ever. -

I am sure I read a report saying Rudy was sat at a recent game with their director of football/owner. So if he didn't know the price it just shows he is even more amateur than I thought. - Today

Valérien Ismaël: Blackburn Rovers Head Coach
islander200 replied to DE.'s topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
I wanted them both out and I wouldn't shed any tears if Ismael was to leave My point is imo the removal of Ismael solves very little whilst it's Gestede and Pasha choosing the next manager and while we are in the midst if their project Also imo it's totally pointless using Ismaels complicity as a stick to beat him with as any manager appointed Will be complicit. They are not going to appoint a demanding head coach like JDT or Eustace it will be another yes man with Owen and Gestede being in charge of signings and having a say in our tactics and formation -

But to the original point where the scout was praised and then shot down that’s not the scouts job to find another clubs valuation -

Exactly so a scouts job is to find players within ‘market value’ the rest is on the clubs -

Missing the point completely - that’s not a scouts job thatl be up to someone above the scout to call and enquire -

Exactly this which makes them think that as they sold Leonard (who is the same age, & has scored more in the same division as Cleary) for peanuts, that they can therefore pick up Cleary for peanuts It couldn't be that they have severely misjudged the market could it? -

Lancaster Rover replied to chaddyrovers's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
We’re all forgetting the one factor that makes Rovers think they are the ones to defy business/football logic - the arrogance of Gestede and Pasha. They’ll believe they’ve unearthed a gem and can swipe him from ‘lowly’ Barnsley for peanuts. Not realising that the lad os being watched by virtually every championship club and Barnsley are well aware of his market value and value to them. Like any well run club have him tied to a sensible contract. Leaving the ball very much in their court with all the negotiating power -

Also, there is nothing stopping Rovers from actually asking the clubs what they are looking for for X player. Obviously, there is always wriggle room, but only if you are in the same ballpark The exception to this may be financially stricken clubs such as Sheff Wed, who may ideally want £x for a player, but lower their expectations when a bill that they cannot pay becomes due. Which is exactly how we got Hyam from Coventry -
happened earlier in the season too Todays fixture is the Central League, which whilst it is an U21/reserve team fixture, Rovers tend to be happy to play the U18s in these, as they did against Blackpool (also ibn the central league) when the 21s had played Boro the previous day in a similar situation earlier in the season, Looks like the same will happen again when 26th Jan they play Birmingham in PL2, then Preston on the 27th in the Central League at the end of this month We did go with an U21 side in our other central league fixture this season (which was in a free week)

We have fixtures two days in a row? How is that even allowed?

The January 2026 Transfer Window
bluebruce replied to chaddyrovers's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Exactly. There has been plenty of time before the window opened for us to get in touch with clubs of prospective players and see if there is a realistic chance of signing them. Whether it's the scouts or other personnel, the point remains the same - we have wasted time on this one. Honestly, it just reeks of the usual 'we tried' policy of bidding for players we know we can't afford so that we look like we have ambition. Then spending a paltry amount. We see this every January and most summers, it's hardly our first rodeo. -

The likes of transfermarkt etc are not a remotely reliable show of value, if that's what you mean. A look through our own squad will show that. -

roversfan99 replied to chaddyrovers's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
I dont understand how a price tag can be unrealistic. Teams arent obliged to put price tags on their player at a certain level. It depends on so many factors, Barnsley clearly dont need or want to sell, he has a long contract, hs is young so his value will go up and West Brom have a huge sell on clause. Obviously its subjective but if you had 2 of the exact same player at 2 different clubs, yet they were valued at different amounts. The one wanting more isnt setting it at an unrealistic amount. If Barnsley wanted 5x what we were prepared to pay, then he clearly wasnt a realistic target. I still am unconvinced as to why we wanted a winger when we dont use them anyway, but its irrelevant anyway as he wont be coming. -
I haven’t posted a whole lot over the years on here but coming across this thread has really hit something inside me. Hope, that’s all you need as a Football fan isn’t it? I was born in 1990, just too young to remember the title winning team properly but my word had some of the best times of my life watching Souness/Hughes era. We also had some times under Jack Walker/Graeme Souness where things didn’t go to plan, but you knew there was a plan behind the scenes, a direction, something to get behind, hope… Nobody is guaranteed Premier League football, no matter how much you spend or how well the club is ran, it’s Football…I don’t think we as a fan base feel entitled to it? I think that is what Rudy Gestede feels with his ‘it isn’t 1995 anymore’ type comments, we just want hope, and the club, its supporters, staff and players to be treated with some common decency. It’s exhausting but so hard to stay away/out of touch when it’s been a part of your life since you could remember. Some of the worst and most embarrassing days I’ve witnessed at Rovers in the last 15 years but somehow a week removed from a game, something inside me wants to watch and support MY team. I’d go so far as to saying their reign has affected my passion for Football. I gave up my season ticket after we had just scraped staying up the season they took over, you could see it all coming a mile off, it took them a matter of months to poison the club, and sadly we have lost a GENERATION of fans or potential fans because of this seemingly never ending nightmare. The neglect of Ewood Park and the infrastructure of the club for 15 years is symbolic of their tenure at the club. Please, just leave.

Probably an even sadder post than the OP. This chap bleeds blue and white, like we all do, but he's battled hard over many years to break the Venky's regime, at great personal and emotional cost according to his postings - and now even he's given up. There is cause for optimism here - however slim it might be. It's often said that it is darkest before the dawn and these grimmest of grim times might be the nadir. Something, somewhere, maybe soon, will cause Venky's to sell up and leave. We have to cling to that hope.

A really poor performance from the Under-21's tonight. Totally outplayed, outfought and overwhelmed by a Forest side that was very impressive on the night. Our back four were simply awful. So many errors in their own area, failing to pick up players, failing the clear the ball and then repeating those errors over and over again. Khan was at fault for the first but badly let down by his defence for the others. However, the midfield was ineffective despite the efforts of Garrett in the first half and Dunn in the second half. Up front, young Higgins tried hard but suffered with the physical side of the game and was taken off, presumably with injury, at half-time. Forest defenders give him a rough time after he made a very bright start. He's certainly not ready to go into the first team and I suspect needs to play more Under-18 football for the rest of this season. In truth, not one player came out of this game with any credit. So many elementary errors all over the pitch that Forest were quick to exploit. I suspect the Under-18's will be drafted in to play in tomorrows Under-21 fixture with Blackpool.
