  1. Past hour
  2. Replay the game with Rovers winning 1-0
  3. Has to be a full match replay no? I don't know of any other outcome for an abandoned match due to weather
  4. Big Sam was right all along 😀
  5. This was my thinking, too - albeit more from a 'right, if we have to play from scratch, let fuck 'em up'. Get a full house, drown the farmers out and back the team to a 4-0 win. And then I woke up.
  6. The problem is, managers (or "head coaches") have comparably less power than ever before. You have non footballing men in suits deciding how the team will play. You have swarms of geeks spitting out "data" and it comes at the cost of individuality and variety.
  7. I would love them to give us the 3 points but theres no way that you can do that in terms of fairness. The most obvious compromise of playing the remainder of the game also has all sorts of issues. Obviously, to get them up to play 11 minutes plus injury time is very unlikely. But also, the fixture loses integrity because it obviously splits into 2. You are then left with a second mini game weeks/months after the first 80 minutes, with different players, in different conditions, with both sides able to approach such a small period as if its a new game, basing tactics on trying to defend or peg back a lead. Therefore, I can only see in line with precedent that they replay the full game. Its really shit and its hard luck but its very difficult to go ahead with any other option. If it does happen, its not some hatred of us from the EFL, its just sadly following precedent and its the only real option which maintains any real integrity and normality in the fixture.
  8. Today
  9. Yeah, good football management is about making the most of the squad at your disposal. It'd be arrogant to enforce your preferred style of play where it's not a good fit. Big Sam is a good example of the former, whatever you may think of him. I'd love nothing more than seeing a physically tough, direct 4-4-2 with wingers and a big man/little man front pairing. Fullbacks being fullbacks and 2 central midfielders who cover the whole central area between them. It'll come back around one day, I'm sure of it.
  10. It is an exceptional case due to the fact it was 11 v 10 for the majority of the ,2nd half. That makes it unprecedented and no doubt the main issue for the EFL to consider. I for one DON'T believe a full replay is the only fair outcome, I think it's totally unfair to be honest.
  11. Saving pounds comes before gathering points in Suhail land.
  12. I just had a call to tell me the Rovers 150 Organising Committee (the one with external representation) was stood down a few weeks ago following the departure of SW. I was also told someone has seen a draft of the 150 book and it has many inaccuracies and typos….I hope these are corrected albeit this is the first Rovers history book for many years I will not be buying.
  13. Its for the exceptional case. This isn't it. 1-0 with at least 16 mins to play. A full replay is the only right and fair outcome. We all know it. The drainage problem is well known, fixable if the owners sign a cheque, thus our (clubs) own fault. Venkys can fuck off every fucking day until they do actually fuck off.
  14. Remove the power from the ref to cancel the game Let the players decide amongst themselves if Ipswich players walk off they concede the game if rovers players walk off (why would they) they concede the game simple
  15. English football mate. What the fuck do you expect from them. Pillocks the lot of them.
  16. Absolutely. It was inevitable that once teams got filled with centre mids playing centre half the big man would return and then the direct stuff to exploit it. If I hear a manager has a philosophy other than win games of football I'm immediately suspicious. Data geeks and middle class gentrification of football does my head in, half space, pivot, double pivot, 2 6's and an 8. Load of nonsense to make people seem smart. "Play the right way"- says who? I loved being the bully boys.
  17. It does seem like the coalition is very much an ex-coalition.
  18. Yep!! It’s a joke the whole thing is a shambles Why does it take so long if the ref has the ability to call off a match then they must have some rules about what they do next ridiculous
  19. Report from yesterday https://www.rovers.co.uk/news/2025/september/23/report--rovers-under-21s-3-4-blackpool-under-21s/
  20. Seems to be a hot topic at present.. Personally I like to see a bit of tactically fluidity, love to see a direct approach. Why not boot it high up and drop it up and over a centre half or make them head it. Defenders hate it. We saw Ohashi get a lad sent off from exactly that. You don't have to 'play through the lines' when you can ping it long. Wimbledon used to play diagonals just to win throw-ins and corners before loading the box. I hate the rigidity and arrogance of modern managers. They think they've re-invented the game.. I listened to the Pep and Warnock interview, Warnock talking of the importance of man management- understanding how to get the best out of players whilst Pep, if I'm remembering correctly (Long time ago so apologies if I'm wrong) was talking about how the game's moved on and it's all about tactics now.. A bit of a digression, but whilst I don't disagree tactics are important, very, very important, they're pretty pointless if you don't have the lads on side. I think this is massively under appreciated, it's almost deemed a bit of an 'old school' approach. However, I see it as the smart approach- evidence based even. I know in Psychology the therapeutic relationship between client and practioner is the most important variable as to the success of therapy. What I think I'm getting it, other than missing how football used to be. Is it's rather generic and complexified- we're not talking quantum physics. I'm all for a resurgence if proper wing play, two strikers up front. Long balls into the big man to hold up or flick on. Sick to death of watching wingers and strikers do nothing but press and pass backwards.
  21. As part of a wider array of events that would be ace, maybe a veterans game against them before a league game. I hope that's not all we get, because that would be dissapointing.
  22. Agreed, they've already set (or continued) the precedent of asking both sides to put their case forward. The facts are all known, they should just make the inevitable decision.
  23. The outcome would be 3pts to Rovers, if it was my decision. 1-0 up with around 10 minutes to go plus added on, there weren't many stoppages, and Ipswich down to 10 men. I'm sure any Ipswich supporter would think the same, if the glove was on the other hand.
  24. They will at the very least be ordered to cover costs and try and make a few extra pennies so there'll be some sort of charge. Meanwhile Ipswich will probably subsidise those who want to travel again.
  25. If I’m the EFL I’m making a decision without taking representations from either side. All that will happen now is they’ll be accused of listening to one side over the other.
  26. Love this thread! Keep up the good work, mate.
