January Transfer Needs
briansol replied to chaddyrovers's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Champion strikers scoring between 15-20 are almost unicorns. Only 4 players reached 15 league goals last season. Of those 4, only Piroe and Sargent can be considered strikers. Ohashi is certainly not in that class, but a 10+ season for a grafter is a decent return. If Gudhjonsen continues he'll be closer to 15 for the season. Our problem in the scoring department is getting the rest of the team contributing. Sunderland went up last year with only Isidor getting above 10+ goals (he got 12). But had goals from multiple players. We need more goals from defence, but especially from midfield like Cantwell and Morishita. -

That awful were keeping multiple clean sheets with the 7th best defensive record in the league somebody that awful can’t be carried for half a season i did say he could easily improve on his first season yes what’s to say he won’t get 7/8 more goals in the next 22 games to take him to 15? Your jumping the gun a bit don’t you think? -
We once got a quote from here: https://www.themuralartists.com/ For the side of the house that you can see from the fox & hounds beer garden. Think it was close to £3,000 with plant hire. Was the image of Jack Walker & Shearer with the Premier League trophy.

Valérien Ismaël: Blackburn Rovers Head Coach

It shows a few things One - that the absence of any serious discussion or pressure on the manager - not even an 'Ismael sort it out' to be heard - shows that pretty much everyone knows that it is all pointless - pointless moaning about the manager, pointless trying to apply pressure or demand better or a change, pointless even going down the route of talking about change. Partly because even the Venky apologists know all too well that there isn't a functioning football club here where trivial matters like performances and results, league position, or any other metric by which the rest of the football world operates gets applied. Everyone knows this, deep down, which is why there is a stupefied fatigued silence on such things at games. No point expending energy thinking or wanting a change, even when results and performances are poor. That's a core component of following a football club gone - people have learned to just tolerate a poor product because it is pointless asking for better. Two - that those out there who think he is doing a good job in the 'circumstances' are actually in their position silently acknowledging there that the owners have ruined us with their approach - because to say he's doing a good job with a 31% win record having inherited a side in the top 6 less than a year ago and now have it staring at relegation would be frankly laughable at any other club. Here there is a genuine argument for it, not because clubs normally drop by 15-20 places in the space of six months, but because the conditions the owners have imposed us on - those that many apologists have defended - are what has ultimately caused this situation. The same people would never directly complain or criticise the owners, preferring to convince themselves that they are necessary, yet if we aren't blaming Ismael and his win record, who are we blaming? -

People have given up, that’s why there’s no clamour for him to go. -

If people are going to take that attitude in general might as well just give up then. Forget the boycott as well. Just let them get on with it and do their worst. -

Even if we were relegated I think it's unlikely Ismael would be sacked. He's got a 3-year contract, he's in this together with his henchmen and the owners wouldn't want to pay him or them off. The club would even put a spin on the PR post-relegation and the reasons for him staying "building for the long term", "3-year project", "believes we can bounce back straightaway", "looking forward to brighter future" etc etc etc -

He's also carrying an injury, as is Hedges. If the squad were not so thin I doubt we would have seen either of them last night. -

Crap managers who get crap results get sacked, was ever thus. But that isn’t how this club operates. They have only sacked Coyle (and that was too late) in a decade. The clamour to sack him isn’t there as what’s the point in clamouring for something that ain’t going to happen. -

Miller's bloody awful imo. On "strange opininions" weren't you the person who scoffed at the notion Ohashi was a ten goal a season striker at best and that he'd weigh in with 15-20 this season? -
Yep. At this point anything around a million with a decent sell-on would be happy days.
-
It seems very much like the senior management rate him more than the u21 coaches.

Irrelevant imo, as with Waggott before him, if Ismael isnt up to the job (which for me he isnt) they need to go. As do Pasha and Gestede etc. Would be a few less things to worry about. Wish I could get a job at this Club, you can perform as badly as you like and many people like RF99 go "It doesnt matter, it's all the owners fault. Crack on." -

Genuinely baffled at your take on miller he isn’t the finished article by any means but he is more than capable at this level it’s obviously a game of opinions but I find that a strange one. Our defence has actually been our saviour this season but our major concern is scoring at the other end that’s the key to staying up and avoiding a relegation battle -

Exactly what it is, no point wasting energy on something as piffling as the manager. He’d have got both barrels a decade ago when the fanbase were still somewhat under the illusion that this club operated in a normal-ish fashion. -

Fair enough. Replace "unconvincing" for a 1-0 win. Still think failure to beat them is catastrophic though. There's a reason we dominated the game, they simply aren't competitive at this level through no fault of their own due to their situation. -

Yep, shows how far the expectations at this club have fallen (plus the fact they don’t do sackings) that you can hover around the relegation zone for months and there’s not even a discussion amongst fans re him being removed, indeed plenty thinking he’s actually done a decent job. Just not normal.
