The Aynsley Pears depreciation thread.
Andy replied to Neal's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
But that was the point - the crazy, recurring, match-defining errors. All GKs make errors and, at this level, you expect a few over a season. But Pears was a lot worse than the average prior to being dropped. He has been fine since covering for Toth's injury, but there's no way that Toth isn't coming straight back in. Some of the saves he was making before injury were some way beyond Pears' ability. They did try offloading Pears in the summer, but those aforementioned errors have been so bad/regular, that nobody was willing to touch him. Maybe this run of decent form may have changed some opinions, we'll find out in January. -

If Carter comes back and sees out the rest of the season without another injury I'll be very surprised. Likewise with Wharton. -
We used to do it for certain games as well.

If we were stupid enough to repeat the mistake of putting any reliance on Carter and Wharton then we deserve the inevitable spell of being short that will occur. We are short not only of regularly available numbers but of quality and balance. We need someone to slot into the middle of the back 3, essentially (I know we played a different formation, but in terms of quality) a massively overdue Hyam replacement. -
Sure I heard late Jan/early Feb for a Wharton return? If(I know) him and Carter are available in the next two or 3 weeks, we're going to be well stocked. Can't really see us signing a centre half if that's the case. I'd suggest if we do sign one, it isn't good news for one or both.

How strange you should mention Douglas! Because I distinctly remember, around 1957, him being driven to requesting a transfer, as a result of the inane abuse he was receiving, from a very small section of the crowd. That for the greatest Rover I have seen, just because his form had temporarily dropped from his own impeccable standards. And that was before the advent of social media -

He's a CB playing there and it clearly shows. This formation lives and dies by the quality of its wingbacks. Bringing in a starting LWB and backup for Alebiosu (so we don't run him into the ground) would be amazing. -

Well, that's me for the night, had enough of being baited for one day. Tomorrow Rev gets strung up for saying he preferred Clayton over Douglas. - Today

Valérien Ismaël: Blackburn Rovers Head Coach
philipl replied to DE.'s topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Jaw dropping! Not the halal report but everything else- perhaps explains why the players coming in from the Academy are doing so well. Back to Ismael, no denying he is capable of setting a team up well, motivating them when things look bad and making astute subs. He also has had a fair share of cock ups and struggles at Ewood in a two thirds empty stadium, rancid atmosphere and a variable playing surface cum swimming pool. -
Bottom 3 looks likely to stay as is for the duration. Forest will grind enough results out, Leeds have an in-form goalscorer, Brentford and Fulham have pulled away. West Ham would need to do some exceptional business in January to have a sniff of survival IMO.

Litherland is filling in at right wing back isn't he? If one of the 3 current CB's gets injured, (always a possibility) we then chuck O'Riordan in and there's no cover for any more injuries or suspensions. Feels a bit thin to me. -

If TGH starts instead of Baradji on Monday night then something odd is going on. Due to us signing him while injured and having to have an operation I wonder if the option fee Is flexible like we would have to pay a bigger fee the more minutes he has and if he doesn't make a league start before the January window opening then the fee would be cheaper. I'm surprised he hasn't started a game yet ,I thought he was going to get a start v boro and give Morishita a rest -
Burnley didn't win against Everton and are 6 points adrift from Safety and West Ham are 5 points adrift. Both teams lack a goalscorer, can they find one in January Wolves still haven't win a game yet. only 2 points on the board.

Not that it matters, but imo Tom did all the real donkey work behind the scenes and John was more the PR man ( which tbf he was very good at) -

There’s no apology necessary - I just wanted to check I wasn’t going mad 😄😄 I’ve re-read the regulation and can see where you’re coming from - whether what Rovers have done constitutes a breach, I’m really not sure. -

😆 That's good then. As long as you respect it but totally disagree with it with utter disbelief just a little bit, that makes me feel so much better. Merry Christmas mate, take the night off and enjoy yourself! -

I simply asked a question instead of blaming Rovers without the facts, now some people have contacted Sheff Wed and find out what the situation actually is. It was a simple question, you are very happy to ask questions and want them answering but don't like answering that like whether you are boycotting the Watford game. I was very open saying no I won't and why I won't whether respecting others who will or are boycotting already -
Valérien Ismaël: Blackburn Rovers Head Coach
Andy replied to DE.'s topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
He's a funny one. The away performances and results (over a half season, not just a few fluke results) tell me that he knows how to set up a team. But then the home performances & results show that he hasn't found a way to win games where we have to take the initiative. There's no question that the players are playing for him and, whilst it's a bit Marmite, I like his honest, direct answers on most things. I can deal with honesty, it's the generic football manager speak that sends me to sleep. So he's nowhere near to be being in the 'useless piece of shit' (Kean / Coyle) group. But he's clearly not as savvy as the likes of Eustace or JDT in terms of getting a tune out of a group. You do also have to take into account how we're being run by criminally-inept administrators. I think I lean more towards the 'he's actually doing alright in the circumstances' column, though the home form needs to pick up - and quickly. -

Im not twisting anything. Youve dominated the thread doing everything you can to deflect and divert blame away from the club. I also find your consistent desire to know whether I am attending every game when its totally irrelevant to be a little strange. But no, I am not going. -

He did an OK job. I much preferred Tom Finn out of the two. And Terry Ibbotsson before him. And David Brown and Derek Keighley To listen to most people talk you'd think he was putting the ball in the net at one end and keeping it out at the other though.
