Agree with what most posters at the game have said including Gally catching the eye. I thought Accy deserved a goal towards the end when they were very lunlucky not to score. That could have had something to do with our central defencive partnership of Mokoena and Matteo in the latter stages!

The Coppice End was full of Rovers fans as was the main stand with good numbers of Rovers also in the opposite end behind the goals. I thought it was quality when the whole lot, Accy fans included, sang "stand up if you hate Burnley." Seems no one can stand the neanderthal knuckle draggers. :brfc:

Forgot to mention, and I know it was only Accy, but Tugay jusy oozes quality. :brfc:

Nice pictures Slater Scott. That looked like an undulating ploughed field surrounded by what must be the worst stadium in the Football League by some distance.

Good practise in case we get drawn to go to Gretna in the UEFA Cup!

I guess Roberts, Jeffers, Derbyshire is just about an ideal list of scorers for a 3-0 win in the first pre-season game. Hope Roberts is OK.

I was sat in the away end (the most populated away end ;)) just behind the goals. When I was walking along the bottom to find somewhere to stand, I got belted square on in the face with the ball! Did anyone see who hit it? If it was Tugay, my life is now complete!!!

If you're the person I'm thinking of then unfortunately it was MGP. I'm sorry.

Seems like a few positives from the game, particulary with Gallagher and Derbyshire. I know that it was only Accy Stanley but good to see the debutants get off the mark. It will be interesting if both Jeffers and Gallagher will be kept at the club, but we managed to bring in McCarthy, then goodbye to Kuqi.

Looks like Groobs 'Wasted No Time' with the report!!

But the impressive performance from Roberts was cut short after just half an hour. Using good strength and skill to get away from his marker, Roberts looked to get clear but was caught and in the process appeared to sustain a groin injury. Manager Mark Hughes wasted no time in replacing the former Wigan man with Shefki Kuqi.

The goal prompted Hughes to replace Jeffers with Matt Derbyshire and he wasted no time in putting the game beyond doubt with a goal on 75 minutes. A forward ball was flicked on by Jonathon Douglas, Derbyshire's first header crashed off the bar, but the rebound fell to the young Rovers striker and he wasted no time in heading in the second attempt.

Groobs 'wasted no time' to give Tim Flowers the 'Bottle':lol:

although it's early doors and friendlies are often misleading, there are many plus points to take from last nights game.

agathe- impressive going forward, uncomfortable in defending.

andy taylor- outstanding in defence and going forward.

jason brown- smaller than expected, but what he lacks in height, he makes up for in agility.

kuqi, derby and gally's performances showed they had points to prove.

kuqi was really agressive- he must have heard the mido and mccarthy reports.

roberts - was fantastic, while he was on. his pace and power will be a real asset to us.

jeffers- was quiet early on, but improved and got his 'fox in the box goal.'

one downside, (apart from the worst pitch i've seen in years) was the idiot that threw a bottle on the pitch. if it was the 70's, i'd understand it, but there seems to be more and more mindless idiots that follow rovers away.

I'm pretty confident this is gonna be the season in which Galy will explode and settle at Rovers. He has the skills and it seems finally the body and maturity to succeed in the Premiership, only needs confidence and playing time. I think it's now or never for him, this season, in a Rovers shirt.

It's OK - Pedersen will have to do.

It probably was me Bellers - skin head, good-looking chap! I got a chipped-tooth and a bloody shirt. Should I sue the club like that Dingle tried to do a couple of years ago?

And so it begins again.

It was still very, very hot at kick-off and the pitch was hard, bumpy and sandy, so it was never going to be a classic. Both teams were only playing at half pace and there was hardly a meaningful tackle in the game (with one or two exceptions), so it's difficult to make judgements on players. In addition I thought Accrington were very poor and offered very little up front.

After saying that though Gallagher did impress in the first half. He started wide on the right but kept switching with Bentley in the centre and drove forward at every opportunity. It was his shot that was parried by the keeper for Roberts to finish. Roberts looked dangerous as well and it was a shame when he went off injured after about 35 minutes - hope it's not serious. However, there were no signs of Roberts and Jeffers developing a partnership during that time but it's obviously very early days.

Agathe played at right-back and looked good going forward, but he also looked very shaky defensively. He did brilliantly for the second goal though, beating at least two players before getting to the by-line and delivering a peach of a cross that Jeffers couldn't fail to convert. It was really the only outstanding moment that Jeffers had in the game (he was subbed shortly after his goal) but I guess he's that type of player, doesn't seem to do much but gets on the end of things and, hopefully, scores goals.

The other plus was Derbyshire, who scored one (a real poachers effort) and could have had a couple more. He still looks very small, but there's something about the lad - he's got a touch of class when he gets in front of goal. Our other debutant Brown had a solid second half in goal and made at least one decent save when called upon.

The only real negatives were Friedel's kicking, which was awful (although the pitch was bobbly), Robert's injury, Bentley and Pedersen's poor performance, and seeing that Kuqi's first touch hasn't improved over the summer. Also both Reid and Nelsen were missing, presumably injured.

All in all it was a decent workout against poor opposition. We controlled most of the game and deserved the win, but we never really got out of first gear. Nice that 3 of our strikers got goals though, can't hurt their confidence going into the bigger challenges ahead.

Aw good grief. In depth analysis and match summary for a friendly agains Accy ?

Just thought it'd be nice to let anyone who wasn't at the game know what had happened. I apologise if it caused any offence.

Personally, being far away, but excited about the forthcoming season, I very much appreciated it

Particularly happy to hear Gally did well, interesting how he played right mid though
