neophox Posted August 9, 2007 Posted August 9, 2007 Well I think Wigan will be relegated. Why Wolves Nicko? What have they bought? Sheffield U is my bet!

nicko Posted August 9, 2007 Posted August 9, 2007 I quite like the look of Wigan. The lad Valencia may be one of surprise successes of the season now that he has settled in. Wolves have the best manager and just signed Freddy Eastwood, who I rate highly. Charlton are weakened. Watford are too and Sheffield United could be anything but proved they were a bit dull last season. Southampton are a mess off the pitch and West Brom have a whole new team. Remember Wolves had no money last time and made the play-offs. And McCarthy took Sunderland up eventually. Going to have to back them myself now after that convincing argument...
pick32 Posted August 9, 2007 Posted August 9, 2007 Any news on garner hope the move has collapsed he shudnt be allowed to leave only on loan.
nicko Posted August 9, 2007 Posted August 9, 2007 Any news on garner hope the move has collapsed he shudnt be allowed to leave only on loan. Still at Dundee United, they will want him signed for Saturday. I would expect a result tonight or tomorrow. Odds on that he signs.
Beta Ray Bill Posted August 9, 2007 Posted August 9, 2007 Thinking of going the game saturday and then staying over. any good places to stay? Whats the town like at night? any ideas anyone? It's a little off topic (unless you are intending getting a room with Nicko) but the person behind the holidays-exposed website has recently launched this: match hotels Could be a useful resource.
b12_simon Posted August 9, 2007 Posted August 9, 2007 Well I think Wigan will be relegated. Yup. Me too: Derby, Wigan and Boro (escape for Big Club but still a right paggering at Ewood in May ). Why Wolves Nicko? What have they bought? Sheffield U is my bet! Wolves is an interesting tip. They've not bought many players but did wonders with a bunch of kids last season. Wolves fans near me are quite happy about not their not splashing the cash. There's quite a buzz round the Molyneux right now.
nicko Posted August 9, 2007 Posted August 9, 2007 Joe Garner news. And it's a surprise twist. The young striker has been at Dundee United all day, everything has gone fine...but there is a fear that he has had a change of heart because of the personal circumstances mentioned on an earlier post. So it would not be a shock if he picked Carlisle United instead, commuting distance blah blah. There may also be interest in Gally from Preston, but I have to stress that is unsubstantiated. And it would cost a fair bit too.
Exiled_Rover Posted August 9, 2007 Posted August 9, 2007 I'd love to offload Gallagher for a decent fee. He's not good enough for a top half Premiership team in my opinion.
Mozzer Posted August 9, 2007 Posted August 9, 2007 so gallagher could be leaving?? i think its time to let him, techinally very good, i just dont think premierleague is his level..i thought he would be good but derbyshire has taken over him now.. 1million would be a good deal..
Rover down South Posted August 9, 2007 Posted August 9, 2007 Probably time he did take his chance & transfer to a club where he can establish a career by getting regular starts. It's a shame as he has been patient & waited for his chance. He will never hold down a permanent place in our side now with the other options available & agree with other posters that he isn't quite good enough for top flight premier league. Good luck to the lad if he moves.
USABlue Posted August 9, 2007 Posted August 9, 2007 I know its not the right threa and it probably deserves one of tis own but i'd go for Derby, Wigan, and Birmingham (the last one is just wishful thinking as i'd love to see them go down again) Do you mean like a Prediction thread or something? We have one 4 pages long. Or are are we discussing tranfers on it?

b12_simon Posted August 10, 2007 Posted August 10, 2007 There may also be interest in Gally from Preston, but I have to stress that is unsubstantiated. And it would cost a fair bit too. Spooky. I was suggesting as much to Preston-supporting mate when we met up after Saturday's game. PNE are as keen on spending money as the rest of Preston so maybe a loan spell would suit the player and both clubs.
USABlue Posted August 10, 2007 Posted August 10, 2007 Well I think Wigan will be relegated. Why Wolves Nicko? What have they bought? Sheffield U is my bet! Sheff U with Robson in charge? I'm thinking not. Wolves is a good shout, McCarthy did a fair job there last season, I suspect he will do better this one.
nicko Posted August 10, 2007 Posted August 10, 2007 Joe Garner is about to sign for Carlisle United. They are trying to rush it through in time for him to make his debut tomorrow. It should be done. By all accounts he has chosen Carlisle because it is closer to where he wants to live. Dundee United are a bit disappointed, they probably started this chase after all, but that's what happens. I think Carlisle have got a decent scorer there. But Rovers would not have let him move on if he had not wanted to go himself.
neophox Posted August 10, 2007 Posted August 10, 2007 Still at Dundee United, they will want him signed for Saturday. I would expect a result tonight or tomorrow. Odds on that he signs. Has he signed yet? Why choose Carlisle before Dundee United who in my eyes are a bigger club.
Mark Atkins' Bald Patch Posted August 10, 2007 Posted August 10, 2007 Nicko has Scott Carson's Villa move been completed yet? I'm toying with the idea of putting him in my dream team if the move goes through. cheers.
Mozzer Posted August 10, 2007 Posted August 10, 2007 anything more on paul gallagher??? any players were interested in???? who are the other clubs interested in and letting players go???
skiporovers Posted August 10, 2007 Posted August 10, 2007 I dont think its a bad idea for Gally to go to PNE, if its on loan, he showed at stoke how good a goal getter he can be at that level. I dont think we should sell him as he is a good prospect and because he hasnt played a lot of first team football we wouldnt get that much! Maybe if he helps PNE to promotion or at least bags a few goals it might raise his price for the future!
nicko Posted August 10, 2007 Posted August 10, 2007 Nicko has Scott Carson's Villa move been completed yet? It will be after the weekend. He wouldn't be allowed to play against Liverpool for Villa. Stuart Taylor will...and I don't fancy him much. Carson is a good shout for your Dream Team all right. Incidentally if you have any contact with the actual Mark Atkins, please send my regards. A legend. Lost touch when he quit Shrewsbury.

I have no contact with the legend that is Super Atko Nicko - merely clutching at straws for a username!!
Fife Rover Posted August 10, 2007 Posted August 10, 2007 anything more on paul gallagher??? any players were interested in???? who are the other clubs interested in and letting players go??? You've not been taking your pills again, have you Mozzer?

Maybe if he helps PNE to promotion or at least bags a few goals it might raise his price for the future! Absolutely right Skiporovers! That IMO would be the ideal solution. We dont know what the season is going to bring in the way of injuries, and now with both Jeffers and Garner gone, we could possibly find ourselves in difficulties if we lose two or three of our main strikers. A loan with an emergency return clause could be just the solution, and will give Gally some valuable experience that he is most unlikely to get at Rovers otherwise. Hmmm! A loan to another PL team or even an SPL team could be even better. Edit: A naughty little thought just occurred to me as I was making that edit a minute ago: we seem to have shaken off the curse of the "strickers" now. Or am I speaking too soon?
nicko Posted August 10, 2007 Posted August 10, 2007 I said a couple of days ago that Middlesbrough wanted to bring in a defender for tomorrow. They failed. It was the Portsmouth defender Dejan Stepanovic, but they would not pay and could not take him on loan as he needs a work permit... As I also said before, away win...
