modes98 Posted August 11, 2007 Posted August 11, 2007 It was mentioned before that the rovers staff are convinced he will come on in his later years and are reluctant to let him leave unless they get a substantial fee for him. Who knows if he is worth waiting for but there has been a fair bit of interest from championship clubs.

Who knows if he is worth waiting for but there has been a fair bit of interest from championship clubs. We simply wont get a 'substantial fee' from Championship clubs cos they dont have any bunce. Put Gally up for sale today and I cannot see anyone in the Prem coming in for him other than for what he already is here ... a squad filler. And that just about sums his potential and value to us up. If he is happy on little wages (? for a prem player that is ) then he may as well stay here as utility player. But imo he will never command a regular position cos he is simply not suited for one..... he can play striker but he is not really suited for it, he can play midfield but he is not really suited for that either, he can play wide but he is not really suited for that either. Average utility player best suited to sitting on the bench.
nicko Posted August 11, 2007 Posted August 11, 2007 Did somebody keep saying 'away win'? No need for the tin helmet. Not much news, apart from Preston talking to and missing out on Ishmael Miller at Man City. Think he is going to West Brom. Wonder where that leaves Gally and PNE/ Sounds like they are having a go and spending a few quid. Bolton were poor against Newcastle, by the way. Rank. Partick Thistle 3 Livingston 0. One team in Glasgow.
Pugg Posted August 11, 2007 Posted August 11, 2007 Keep predicting a Rovers win then Nicko, you might be a lucky omen.

John Posted August 11, 2007 Posted August 11, 2007 Nicko - you say not much news, are any decent stories at all for tomorrow (even including other clubs) ? Also, some folk may not care about this one (but I do!), but any information on our new fitness coach (who has applied, who would Hughes like etc.). Thanks

Thanks Good point regarding fitness coach,i think he has been a major part of Hughesy`s success so far.Hope we get as good a replacement.
nicko Posted August 11, 2007 Posted August 11, 2007 Any excuse for a Thistle goal, especially for the Gary Harkins watchers. http://ptfc.co.uk/pressbox/popVideo.asp?vi...82007113017.mov Main news at the moment... Tottenham squeezing Middlesbrough for more money before they sell Mido. Yakubu to go to Everton when Boro find a replacement. Big barney at Bolton between Allardyce and Gartside - quite funny. Eidur Gudjohnsen's ridiculous wage demands - which put off a very brief thought Rovers had about him along with a few others. Bits and bobs stuff, nothing much. No word on fitness coach...
thenodrog Posted August 11, 2007 Posted August 11, 2007 Whats happened to the WHU supporting People columnist 'Macca'? Has he moved on or has he been moved on?
nicko Posted August 12, 2007 Posted August 12, 2007 Before you ask the story about Arsenal and MGP - at the end of a Sunday People piece with my name on it is: a - not mine. b - news to me. But I will keep my ears open. On Paul McCarthy...he is the new sports editor of the News of the World. To be fair to Paul he is a Hammer and never says different. He can be as hard on them as anyone, possibly harder.

It is absolutely amazing how many times this happens. Is it a case of the clubs deliberately leeking information like this to get some small advantage, press hounds sympathetic to the "big clubs" trying to create trouble, or a coinicidence that happens so often we should get Mulder & Scully to investigate ? BTW - thanks for the "leaks" - we are indeed honoured to have such an accurate source of insider information on our MB
nicko Posted August 12, 2007 Posted August 12, 2007 I don't know where the Arsenal link with MGP on, so it would be wrong to guess. I don't think Arsenal are leakers, to be fair. It's either a guess or from his agent. Just checked papers and a good Eidur Gudjohnsen story didn't make it - can't complain there were loads of other things happening. But just to let you know...he is looking for £100,000-a-week. I hear several Premiership sides have asked, the fee of £6.7 million is reasonable and Barcelona want rid. However that level of wage demand is just way too much. If he drops - or comes on loan to England - then he is a good signing. But after hearing that news I fear he is just going too far. The more I think about it Roque was good business. I know questions were raised about his goals and fitness record, but he is a class act.

USABlue Posted August 12, 2007 Posted August 12, 2007 any chance we can have derbyshire in exchange for any player ye want between knight and healy? Not a chance mate. Matty stays right here, what a bonus he's a fan too, loved the way he legged it all the way over to the Rovers fans after he scored. The lads a finisher.

It's either a guess or from his agent. From that report........ "Wenger, meanwhile, has tabled a £7m bid for Blackburn star Morten Gamst Pedersen. The Arsenal boss has been searching for a left-winger all summer and was linked with Florent Malouda, before he joined Chelsea, and Marseille's France star Franck Ribery. But now he has set his sights on Rovers' Norwegian flyer, 25, and he's ready to pull out all the stops to get his man." If £7m is his best shot he must not have many 'stops' to pull out! Taj concerning news given that Wenger is currently in a position to blackmail his board. But imo I think Wenger will be off soon. Dein's departure has rocked the boat and it seems to be shipping water rather than righting itself.
S15 Posted August 12, 2007 Posted August 12, 2007 Yesterday Wenger confirmed he will sign a new contract soon yet your convinced he's off soon?
Pugg Posted August 12, 2007 Posted August 12, 2007 any chance we can have derbyshire in exchange for any player ye want between knight and healy? Don't judge Healy so quickly...he has just scored for you...although it was gifted to him
Exiled_Rover Posted August 12, 2007 Posted August 12, 2007 Again, in this market £7m isn't enough for a goal scoring left winger.
Sandiway Blue Posted August 12, 2007 Posted August 12, 2007 watching arsenal now, rosicky is playing left wing so i can`t see them buying gamst
Dunnfc Posted August 12, 2007 Posted August 12, 2007 7 mill what a joke! The least he should be going for in todays market is 20 mill. It always happens when we play big teams they do something to try unsettle the team, but i hope the bid is rejected and we can resist all atempts to sign our big players. Nicko: Has the been any news inside with the MGP transfer?
S15 Posted August 12, 2007 Posted August 12, 2007 £7m is exactly what MGP is worth in reality.. The current market isn't reality with people like Bent going for £16.5m. However Wenger is very thorough with his scouting, which is exactly why he wont bid for Pedersen.

I'd take £7m but at this stage it would be hard to bring in a replacement. Wenger is to wiley to play big bucks for MGP anyway. MH clearly rates him though.

Morten Gamst Pedersen is an absolute class player. Not just his set pieces, he tracks back & tackles & has a cracking shot on him. Can't believe how anyone would want him gone. He is indispensable to our side.
Dunnfc Posted August 12, 2007 Posted August 12, 2007 MGP is a big player for us because he scores, hes a great crosser and his understanding with warnock is awesome, plus he gets back and covers that lb position well, to sell him would be stupid and it would mean we are a selling club which we arent are we? MH rightly rates him highly as hes youngish and a fantastic talent.
