Neil Weaver Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 Anybody found MH's comments on the Newc job this morning ? Maybe I'm just paranoid but it sounds to me as though he wouldn't have minded being offered the job, and if Redknapp turns it down then he's said nothing to rule himself out. Once again, showing his shrewdness.

den Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 Redknapp is holding a news conference in 20 mins. Now I can't imagine that he's going to say anything, apart from he's staying at Pompey.

Maybe I'm just paranoid but it sounds to me as though he wouldn't have minded being offered the job, and if Redknapp turns it down then he's said nothing to rule himself out. Once again, showing his shrewdness. What I got from it was him saying why would he want to swap a stable job with a good board for an unstable one and a rubbish board.
LeftWinger Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 What I got from it was him saying why would he want to swap a stable job with a good board for an unstable one and a rubbish board. I'd have been much happier had he worded it like you Cocker!
philipl Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 Redknapp is holding a news conference in 20 mins. Now I can't imagine that he's going to say anything, apart from he's staying at Pompey. He holds a press conference at this time every Friday before Pompey have a game.... ....as does Mark Hughes before Rovers games. Unless 'Arry departs his script like he did after he got arrested (he and Joey can share a cell), I doubt the conference will be very illuminating. Looks like Newcastle could end up with Souness again. PS I agree with Cocker
den Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 Anelka signed by Chelsea. FOURTEEN MILLION POUNDS!
Mozzer Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 surely blackburn should be signing someone today or tomorrow..we only have 2 central midfielders both who have been out injuried.. we should try for diaby on loan from arsenal.. nicko..do you have any latest transfer news from rovers.. ie roberts to sunderland
Nelsta Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 Anelka signed by Chelsea. FOURTEEN MILLION POUNDS! I assume they have a replacment ready then
alexanders Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 Anelka signed by Chelsea. FOURTEEN MILLION POUNDS! Brilliant! Then BW won't have much attacking power with Diof already in ACN
Cocker Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 Anelka signed by Chelsea. FOURTEEN MILLION POUNDS! Where you seeing that Den?
martmitch Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 I assume they have a replacment ready then they could splash out on roberts and still have 10m change
EwoodGlory Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 Redknapp is holding a news conference in 20 mins. Just been canceled
herbergeehh Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 Will be interesting to see who they can bring in. Great news for Rovers though, a new player won't replace Anelka straight away, and they probably won't have anyone ready for Sunday in any case. Diouf gone aswell, Kevin Davies, Heidar Helguson, Ricardo Vaz Te and Daniel Braaten up there... Still capable of the odd goal from set pieces though
herbergeehh Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 Click "Nobody from Newcastle has contacted me and in any case, that wouldn't be allowed. Nobody has contacted Peter Storrie." Been reading the rules, have you Harry?
Cocker Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 Will Anelka be able to play for Chelski at the weekend though Ah, he can - thats him in my Fantasy Team then
robborover Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 Will Anelka be able to play for Chelski at the weekend though Ah, he can - thats him in my Fantasy Team then Just done the same thing!
philipl Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 The cancellation of 'Arry's regular Pompey pre-match briefing news conference IS big news. BBC on Newcastle/'arry pros and cons. Anelka won't be facing us on Sunday.
Rover down South Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 Someone phone Gary Megson & tell him he can have McCarthy & Roberts for £14 million!!
Cocker Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 Someone phone Gary Megson & tell him he can have McCarthy & Roberts for £14 million!! No he cant - that would turn their team into one thats not half bad
philipl Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 There are reports that 'Arry is meeting Newcastle this afternoon after Ashley offered £5m per year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The press are unanimous in saying Hughes is ruled out of the Newcastle jib following this morning's statement. Anelka will appear for Chelsea against Spurs tomorrow and it seems Bolton got their £15m. I expect we will get £4m for Roberts as well.
Mozzer Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 4million for roberts-we are laughing-i like him, and felt he offered us something different-but to have 1million put on his price for when we signed him and he has hardly played is a really good deal.. to get 5million or more for savage and roberts is really good business... we need to spend now...
thenodrog Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 This is fanciful but this would be funny......... if Arry backs out, Hughes does likewise and nobody else goes running to the North east then maybe Ashley will be left with lots of egg on his face. Wouldn't it be funny if desperation turns him to Steve Bruce? Bruce could never refuse to manage the Mags and could easily end up sh1tting on Wigan and Whelan all over again.
