Cocker Posted October 12, 2007 Posted October 12, 2007 Do you have a link to his new book? I take it its an auto biography? If I could ask him something it would be - Do you fancy filling in while Santa's out.
Mc Love Posted October 12, 2007 Posted October 12, 2007 I would ask him why he left Rovers for an average team? He could have went to Man Utd, or he could have stayed with rovers and won more trophies!! I think i will buy the book
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted October 12, 2007 Posted October 12, 2007 Whats the odds all we get is a small footnote. It's always seems to me he tries to distance himself from us.
LeftWinger Posted October 12, 2007 Posted October 12, 2007 I would ask him why he left Rovers for an average team? He could have went to Man Utd, or he could have stayed with rovers and won more trophies!! I thought Jack put a stop on him going to Man United?
Mc Love Posted October 12, 2007 Posted October 12, 2007 Really lw?? Didnt know that, i guess we will learn more when the book comes out!
grizfoot Posted October 12, 2007 Posted October 12, 2007 I thought Jack put a stop on him going to Man United? I always thought he just rejected them.
den Posted October 12, 2007 Posted October 12, 2007 I always thought he just rejected them. Shearer was quoted at the time as saying that he spoke to United, but Jack told him he would never agree a fee with Man Utd. How true that is, we'll never know.
pleasure Posted October 12, 2007 Posted October 12, 2007 it's not the 'MOTD 2008 ANNUAL IS IT! ?'
only2garners Posted October 12, 2007 Posted October 12, 2007 After buying his last book about winning the Championship wth Rovers, which must be a contender for most boring sports book ever written I think I'll pass this time. It was memorable for the line about celebrating a Rovers win by going home and creosoting the garden fence.
b12_simon Posted October 12, 2007 Posted October 12, 2007 I'll say this. If he ever records it as an audio book, steer well clear! That man's voice cures insomnia the world over.
Cocker Posted October 12, 2007 Posted October 12, 2007 I'll say this. If he ever records it as an audio book, steer well clear! That man's voice cures insomnia the world over. The most boring voice award must goto Brian Robson
OJRovers Posted October 12, 2007 Posted October 12, 2007 I think the reason he went to Newcastle was simply because it was his hometown team and he was a big fan, the only thing better than winning the league would be to help your own team to win it.

Agree 100% about this but there are some very bitter and twisted people out there (not just Rovers fans) that refuse to believe this
shadsworth cloud Posted October 12, 2007 Posted October 12, 2007 i heard him on R5Live phone in and he said time and again how happy he was at rovers etc etc etc. he also said that he had agreed to sign for MU but at the last minute switched to Newcastle because it was his home town team, he's just an ordinary working class guy yawn yawn yawn etc

Newcastle weren't average at the time though, they were challenging Man Utd for the title. Shearer could (and possibly should) have been the man that made the difference.

Stick with one story.

phillord Posted October 12, 2007 Author Posted October 12, 2007 Alan Shearer: My Illustrated Career (Hardcover)..available on Amazon
rover6 Posted October 12, 2007 Posted October 12, 2007 I would ask him the exact physics behind his shocking scientific discovery - that light actually shines out from Michael Owen's backside.

How old was he when he left us? He could have signed for Man U or liverpool for a few years then helped Noocastle to prem glory, not that we will ever see that happen!
Rover95 Posted October 12, 2007 Posted October 12, 2007 I would ask him if a small part of him ever regretted leaving us when he did. I think the reason he got booed was that people were gutted that he went when he did and didn't really expect him to leave. I was distraught at the time and spent vast fortunes phoning teamtalk to get info on whether he'd actually left. If he came back now I for one would give him a great reception - he was the best player I've ever seen in a Rovers shirt. Its disappointing though that he never seems to refer to playing for us when talking on MOTD - not sure why - I thought he would have great memories - more so than Newcastle where he never won anything but was so desperate to do so.
Mc Love Posted October 12, 2007 Posted October 12, 2007 Phoning teamtalk, haha i remember that, i got a bollicking from my parents for ringing it up!
