RibbleValleyRover Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 If Hughes does become Chelsea manager, I wonder who he will raid his old club for.....Bentley and Santa possibly. Don't make us more depressed John!

they_think_its_all_rover Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 At least at Chelsea he might be "extra kind" to us and pay well over the odds
cn_barlow Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 He knows what they can do, so he might be willing to pay that little extra for them rather than go for an unknown quantity. I wouldn't let Santa Cruz go, and i dont think he'd want to go either
Hughesy Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 I dont thin Roque would follow, and i hope it wont happen but if it did. £40m for the pair seems fair

I wouldn't let Santa Cruz go, and i dont think he'd want to go either The problenm we will have is a lot of players have signed for the manager not for the club. We could have a long list of players looking elsewhere depending on who we get in if we need to replace Hughes.
John Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 True, Hughes would have certainly helped when signing Santa and some other players. I wonder if Fat Sam may have the same affect? Maybe a return for Kevin Davies could be on the cards
Mozzer Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 according to this we have come in for michael kightly but one club has made a 4million bid for him http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11676_3637785,00.html im guessing west ham.. nicko you know anything?

John Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 Just watching phone in with Steve Claridge on Setanta Sports news - he just revealed that ourselves, Spurs and Pompey are in talks with Richard Dunne!!! Clarridge spoke to Harry Redknapp earlier today. Also, Man City fan talking now to Clarridge, saying Hughes is the man for them and it would be a step up for him. Saying Hughes has out grown us etc - w*nk*ers.

Yeah i know what your saying...but i cant imagine any of them leaving just because of Hughes. Especially Santa Cruz, who has his best season as a footballer goals wise, following an unproductive spell at a top club like chelsea. Why would he go back to that?
Hughesy Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 If he has out grown us, why is it we are in talks (if true) to sign thier best defender

John Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 Cruz recently said he is happy playing here but eventually wants to move back to a 'big club'.
Mozzer Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 i cant see the rumour about richard dunne being true hes a good defender and very underated..
John Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 Nicko - have you heard anything on this? Redknapp told BBC Radio Five Live on Saturday: "I like Dunne. He's a top player and I think there's a couple of clubs in for him at the moment. Just to clarify, Clarridge said it will be tough for Pompey to get Dunne, as Spurs want him and also Blackburn are in for him.
Exiled_Rover Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 It's unlikely we'd spend £5m on Dunne when we have other pressing needs and a tiny transfer kitty.
Hughesy Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 But would he cost that? He wants out and that usually lowers the price
EwoodGlory Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 I think Nicko said he would be cheaper then expected, due to the fact he only had one year left on his contract.
AJW Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 I will check on that - funnily enough it has a ring of common sense about it. I see the notw ran this story today.... now 2 scenarios, the journo in question has been reading these pages or the guy who told me this either got lucky or knows more than i gave him credit for , http://blogs.notw.co.uk/sport/2008/05/zico-ok-for-cit.html
AJW Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 NICKO there's that many stories comin out of man city at the mo i thought i'd pass on one i heard frank sinatra wants zico as boss , he thinks he can bring over the best talent from the far east to city sorry should have been this link
rover6 Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 Correct, all pace and no final product. A bit like SWP. Sorry to be so captious but SWP scored 30 goals in 130 or so appearances for Man City. He was also their main creator and the season he broke into the England squad, he was in stunning form. You have to place his current doldrums in context of his whole career - before you decide that he has nothing to his game but pace. Edit: A few seasons ago Dunne was a shambles. He's sorted himself out and has had a decent season...but I still think his lack of pace makes him not ideal for a upward aspiring Prem team. If he's not too expensive then fine - but £5 million, no thanks.
Bobby G Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 If we sign him it would be brilliant! Not much pace but strong and reads the game well. Poor mans John Terry for me...
BlueWhiteDynamite Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 Any ideas whats behind all this dos santos to spurs talk? skysports have it that a fee of just 8million euros has been placed, now for me he seems to be a huge prospect and at such a young age why would barca want to sell, especially as you would see him as a replacement for Ronaldinho. Also the price seemed to start at 12million i think and is now at just £6 million. Why would a player leave such a huge club to play for a pub team like spurs? is there something going on in the background like huge attitude problems, because if not i see no reason why they would let him go and for such a small fee.
Hi Mack Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 If we sign him it would be brilliant! Not much pace but strong and reads the game well. Poor mans John Terry for me... A poor mans john Terry can still be a hell of a player though! Dunne is solid add a couple decent midfield/strikers in the summer i will start to be a little more optimistic! Got a bad feeling hughes and bentley might be off! hope im wrong!
thenodrog Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 If Hughes does become Chelsea manager, I wonder who he will raid his old club for.....Bentley and Santa possibly. If that happened I think that would be a big mistake for him. Chelsea are big time and Bentley and RSC would be bit-part players in the eyes of the chelsea faithful and more importantly Abromovich. They are being linked with the likes of Torres, Messi, Kaka and Gerrard for goodness sake.
