modes98 Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 the next manager must be british IMO we should go for the best man for the job, regardless of nationality. There is a lot of hype surrounding young British managers, they very rarely deliver anything of note.

USRoverME Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 Waggy, are you crazy... last time that was said, the answer was McClaren.... that's a certainty for relegation.
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 the next manager must be british That's the attitude the FA took when selecting the England manager when Sven left. Look where that got us.
HATRIX Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 Let's look on the bright side - at least we wont be signing Koumas now!
jim mk2 Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 Waggy, are you crazy... last time that was said, the answer was McClaren.... that's a certainty for relegation. Really ? On what basis ?
broadsword Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 McLaren is useless. I wouldn't want him within a mile of the club.
waggy Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 Waggy, are you crazy... last time that was said, the answer was McClaren.... that's a certainty for relegation. THERE IS A MASSIVE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN ENGLAND AND THE ROVERS
Sandiway Blue Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 Really ? On what basis ? It is fair to say Middlesbrough fans were very relieved when Mclaren got the England job. I think that says it all..........
Sparky Marky Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 defo no to maclaren.....the man is just not good enough.....he's an embarassment and I don't want him anywhere near rovers.... I go for a Ince and Shearer combo.....if I was Mr Williams.
tcj_jones Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 Tony Mowbray! He's done a great job at WBA. I wonder if Bowen is up to the task...
modes98 Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 It is fair to say Middlesbrough fans were very relieved when Mclaren got the England job. Even Fc Twente fans do not want McClaren! There is a message in all these fans not wanting him! McClaren article
MarkBRFC Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 Tony Mowbray! He's done a great job at WBA. I wonder if Bowen is up to the task... I can tell you now that he isnt.
rebelmswar Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 I can tell you now that he isnt. Shame it would be nasty to loose the whole backroom staff too.
vizcaya Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 Don't know if anyone has brought this up yet... But, if MH goes to City, wouldn't that contradict his statement that he'd only manage clubs he's played for?? (or have I missed something?) To my knowledge that will include Rovers, Wales (managed Wales, are STILL managing Rovers), that tiny football club in Trafford (can't remember what it's called), Chelsea, Everton... Possibly a couple more... Anyway, I'll second the thought of Henning Berg. He may not have done a lot at FC Lyn Oslo (yet), but, IMO, if we were to discuss former players as possible candidates, he'll be as good as anyone else mentioned in my book.
den Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 Even Fc Twente fans do not want McClaren! There is a message in all these fans not wanting him! McClaren article Boro fans called him the magician. He could make the crowd disappear.
MarkBRFC Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 Shame it would be nasty to loose the whole backroom staff too. If your going to appoint a new manager, he has to be allowed to bring in his own staff i think. Mark Bowen should be the last man we look at replacing Hughes, it never works.

mrsjansen Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 For me its the waiting game now. for when Sparky leaves and where he goes to. I would much rather see him go to chelsea than city, being that chelsea are so much bigger, BUT would he want to go there. They finished 2nd last season and got to the champs league final and still got sacked. I do think with the right money Hughes would be an amazing manager, but maybe he feels that city are bigger than rovers. Its always a case where they feel the grass is always greener away from ewood.....doesnt always turn out like that tho. Id be gutted to see him leave, i figured it would be inevitable, but its still a shock. HUghes picked up the pieces from Souness and turned us into a decent team again, what with having very little money. Ill wait to see who we appoint, but right now the future is looking bleak.
Earlydoors Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 Tony Mowbray! He's done a great job at WBA. That's a good shout.. I'm not sure he could command the respect of good premiership players though
modes98 Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 Boro fans called him the magician. He could make the crowd disappear. I think the same name should be given to Fat Sam.
herbergeehh Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 "The grass isn't always greener" has been Hughes' mantra when it comes to players, and now he's going to talk to Manchester City? I just don't get this, what will he do if Sinatra doesn't have the cash available, and Chelsea choose someone else?
Iceman Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 i would rather have Strachan here, than Allardyce to be quite honest

He will come back to us with his tail between his legs, and us being Blackburn Rovers wont bat one eyelid at it.
waggy Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 i don't think any rovers fan can have a pop at sparky for talking to citeh,he has given us 3 good seasons and as a club we are holding him back
