thenodrog Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 Can we have a poll on the manger thread then please? just to highlight the lack of support for Big Sam? Hopefully someone from the club might hear about it. Why? There are plenty who wouldn't mind him taking over.

den Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 Can we have a poll on the manger thread then please? just to highlight the lack of support for Big Sam? Hopefully someone from the club might hear about it. A poll on the next manager before this one's gone, - or an anti fatsam poll?
1864roverite Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 at city he has Hart v Brad - potential against one of the best Sun ji Hi v Emerton - no contest fat boy dunne v The Admiral - similar players offski richards v Samba - similar players Ball v warnock - no contest Hamman,Johnson and Fernandez and Petrov v Dunny,Bentley, MGP and Vogel - no contest Elano and Vassel v RSC and Mccarthy subs Bojinov,Benjani,Ireland, issacsson and Sturridge v Derbyshire, Tugay,Roberts, Brown and Reid NO CONTEST So for me, Hughes has to spend MASSIVE just to get City on an even par with Rovers. ITS A NO BRAINER
RibbleValleyRover Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 Not sure we should put a poll up yet, until its confirmed Hughes has gone and we have an idea on who might be in the running to replace Hughes.
Hasta Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 Au contraire hatsa. I am the reallist on here. You lot thinking that BRFC will continue indefinitely at footballs top table are the dreamers. I've banged on for ages how we are a Championship club punching was above our weight and one day fairly soon we will return to our 'correct' level. Rather that than support a newly built fantasy franchise football club.
Hasta Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 Hamman,Johnson and Fernandez and Petrov v Dunny,Bentley, MGP and Vogel - no contest I agree, no contest that their midfield is better!
EwoodGlory Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 A poll on the next manager before this one's gone, - or an anti fatsam poll? I was thinking a next manager one, he might not be gone yet, but he is talking to another club, which must mean Rovers officials are discussing potential replacements.

HATRIX Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 I don't think Warnock is definately saying he wants to leave. Like us fans i'm sure this whole saga has been a shock to the players. I think most of the players will want to see what happens and who we may bring in before making a proper judgement. Thats why i underlined the word If .I agree that most players will wait to see who takes over the hotseat.Lets hope we can pull in a good manager with ambition for the club and make some credible signings to add to the already talented squad .
LeChuck Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 at city he has Hart v Brad - potential against one of the best Sun ji Hi v Emerton - no contest fat boy dunne v The Admiral - similar players offski richards v Samba - similar players Ball v warnock - no contest Hamman,Johnson and Fernandez and Petrov v Dunny,Bentley, MGP and Vogel - no contest Elano and Vassel v RSC and Mccarthy subs Bojinov,Benjani,Ireland, issacsson and Sturridge v Derbyshire, Tugay,Roberts, Brown and Reid NO CONTEST So for me, Hughes has to spend MASSIVE just to get City on an even par with Rovers. ITS A NO BRAINER 1864...City finished 3 points behind us. Any attempt to suggest the City squad is way behind ours is just Rovers bias, as highlighted by suggesting Samba and Richards are similar players. He'd definitely be taking a step backward in the short term, but I've no doubt that, with the right financial backing, he'd take two steps forward eventually...something we can't offer him because the money wasn't made available for transfers when he needed it.
HATRIX Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 Just realised i never underlined if , i put it in bold
Alan75 Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 I do wonder if the Man City interview is a ploy to get Chelsea to show their hand. For Rovers it could be a win win situation. No Chelsea bid and Hughes rejects City to stay at Rovers until the United job comes up. or Chelsea and City start an auction for Hughes.
RibbleValleyRover Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 Talksport's Blackburn Rovers correspondent coming on soon apparently. Probably won't learn anything new though...
Bobby G Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 No need for an auction. They have to match each others bid. You telling me if we want 5 million and both offer that then Man City can come back and say we will give you 7 million and Hughes will go there? Unlikely.
ABBEY Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 thing is al ,hes lost a lot of respect from a lot of roverites by seeking to talk to city.If things pan out like you describe and hes still our manager he wont have the full backing of a lot of fans now.

I thought Rovers were only formed in 1875? :-) Sorry, it's been a long day!

1864roverite Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 Le C you missed my point my friend. City are nowhere near Rovers current status and do not have the solid foundations in place like at Ewood. They can only just manage to draw with us on their own pitch ! I was simply highlighting that there is nothing attractive or appealing about the man city job tht isnt on offer at Ewood. There maybe plenty of cash in the future but they aint got any yet. There may be plenty of potential to sign a Ronaldinho but they aint done so YET.
LeftWinger Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 Well Hughes can bugger off for me. It seems like he'd take any old job - the way he refused to rule out Newcastle and now this. If he seriously thinks he'll do well working under Frank Sinatra - then good luck to him.
modes98 Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 No need for an auction. They have to match each others bid. You telling me if we want 5 million and both offer that then Man City can come back and say we will give you 7 million and Hughes will go there? Unlikely. Hughes will probably turn one down for the other but i don't see why we couldn't treat it like a player transfer. According to Nicko there is no set compo fee.
HATRIX Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 As long as he could still get his team winning and finishing in a respectful positition i wouldnt mind as i have come to terms with the stepping stone status of the club.Either we need a very rich backer ,or a local top manager to be plucked from obscurity .So all i can say is lads and ladys, get typing your CV s now
jannerman Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 I can't believe that some fans are giving Hughes stick for going to talk to City. He has made it clear over the past twelve months that without new investment in players the club can't progress. That investment is not forthcoming as there appears to be no hint of a takeover on the horizon. He's a young, ambitious manager and has been given to opportunity to talk to a club with more resources and bigger crowds than the Rovers. Why wouldn't he opt to talk to them? Football management is his chosen career not the management of Blackburn Rovers. If he feels he has taken the Rovers as far as he can on the resources available it's only natural that he should look for a new challenge. If he stayed and wasn't able to strengthen the team and the club were in the relegation places come Christmas, how many of those giving him stick now would be shouting for his head six months down the line? Wherever Hughes goes I wish him well. He has been great for the Rovers and I hope he brings success to whichever club he joins. As for the Rovers, we've seen it all before, Carey, Furphy, Lee, Smith, Kendall and even Souness have all be enticed away after achieving success at Ewood Park. Sadly, losing your manager and best players is all part of being a Blackburn Rovers supporter. It's nothing new, individuals come and go but the club goes on and that's the main thing. I completely agree with you Parsonblue - Hughes has asked for more investment and the board have done what they've done - if he's not happy then he's not exactly shouting from the rooftops about it. So some games are being played at the moment, sometime these things have to happen for things to move on. At the end of the day Blackburn is one of the most financially well-run clubs around which makes it a decent shout for an investor, albeit one that isn't in the market to make millions for next to no investment/work. The club will surely seem a decent prospect for some hungry managers out there? And if the players are unhappy or are to be shipped out we'll still get money for them, and if stories are true compo for Hughes, it should all be money in the kitty for a, hopefully, resourceful manager to spend wisely. Stuff changes, people move on, this situation reminds me of the time Ian Holloway left Plymouth for Leicester and look what happened to him. Support your club, the manager, even the players, none are bigger.... (And I was wavering earlier today and thinking about abandoning Rovers, but why, I now realise that I'll always be loyal!)
Flopsy Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 Dean Saunders has been most complimentary on how well Rovers is won
