thenodrog Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 Quick question. Isn't the song No Nay Never suggesting we'll never play them as we're in a higher division than them - hence "will we play the Burnley b*stards, no nay never no more"? Then why do they sing it? They'll never play us again because they're in a lower division? Doesn't make sense - or am I totally getting it wrong. Daft innit? And if there is a God for football he does appears to have bene listening and doing his best to suit this past generation or more!

SamDingle Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 Then why do they sing it? Because it's our song. Next.
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 Yes, but it is wrong. Lets put it into simpler wording: We're superior and we'll never play you again. Now, why do Burnley fans sing this? Do they not think they'll ever beat us or be above us again?
USABlue Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 Then why do they sing it? They'll never play us again because they're in a lower division? Doesn't make sense - or am I totally getting it wrong. It started when we were relegated to the 3rd Division, or thereabouts , and Burnleh were a decent 1st Division side. They have never let go of it, the irony now is sweet of course, like they are mocking themselves. However, if we don't pull our fingers out it could soon be really relevant, and have a ring of truth to it.
JAL Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 See Burnley yet again fail to attract a decent crowd to their ground when their team is supposedly on the up 14k . Is the 'no nay never' song, something to do with the lack of a decent crowd at the Dingledome.
Gav Posted February 18, 2009 Author Posted February 18, 2009 Burnley have been giving away 4000 free tickets for the recent home games, so that puts the crowds into perspective I'd say. They're taking 9000 to Arsenal though and thats all that matters
T4E Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 Is the 'no nay never' song, something to do with the lack of a decent crowd at the Dingledome. Hardly something we can take the ###### out of is it?!
incy wincy little spider Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 erm something in your post tells me you aren't a Blackburn fan. Really good atmosphere at turf moor? do me a favour. how many times did they sing No Nay Never ??? must be well into the 100's usually is. Burnley the legend in there own town !! Yep I am a blackburn fan, but I don't mind burnley - not sure if that makes me a 'true' fan or not!? Well with the atmosphere im going off the last game i went to, where i sat in Jack Walker upper and I sat in same place but in their version- Hargreaves or something similar. The fans there were a lot lot louder and singing away/standing up for most of the game. Reminded me of Ewood a few years ago. And yeah they did sing that song a lot haha

thenodrog Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 NO TRUE ROVER SITS WITH BURNLEY FANS ,EVEN WITHFREE TICKETS ,JUST AS NO TRUE DINGLE WULD SIT IN THE BBE. He might but I guarantee he'll have a better time sitting in the away end. I've been on occasion with my mate years ago and stood with the away fans in the cricket field half of the Longside. Great craic! Once they know that we were BRFC fans but there to support their team they treat us like celebrities.
ABBEY Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 rumour as it owen coyle is going to be the next james bond!

I guess im a Blackburn fan who just prefers to see local teams do better then southern/yorkshire teams. Would be great to sit in away end and watch us play burnley. Missed the last three games . I'm sure im not that the only rovers fan like myself!!?

SamDingle Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 Abbey, like the proverbial stopped watch, is finally right. Saying 'I like to see local teams do well' marks you out as a post-Sky, Nick Hornby reading, football-as-a-pastime, Arsenal admiring, Guardian reading idiot. I'd rather remove my eyeballs with a rusty spoon than sit in the Blackburn End. No Nay Never.

thenodrog Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 I'd rather remove my eyeballs with a rusty spoon than sit in the Blackburn End. No Nay Never. But as I said you might be suprised to find how enjoyable the same experience is when sat in the Darwen End.
MCMC1875 Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 But as I said you might be suprised to find how enjoyable the same experience is when sat in the Darwen End. Doesn't bode well for Lancs utd!

I have a season ticket at Rovers and there are no split loyalties, but I do like to see Burnley do well. I've been to see Burnley play with my Uncle and enjoyed it. I was cheering them on all through the cup run too. But when Pavlyuchenko scored to send them out, make no mistake, I laughed so hard some wee came out.

LeftWinger Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 So you cheered them on all through there cup run, but was happy when they went out ? makes sense I thought that. Strange. He can't be a real Rovers fan either. I thought it was essential to be a pessimist to be a Rover. He seems to have taken pleasure from all possible outcomes there!
CAPT KAYOS Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 rumour as it owen coyle is going to be the next james bond! Abbey that is just class... when the t-shirts out?

But yeah I like football in general when played well, but I will always support Blackburn and always get a season ticket/go to as many games as possible. Just I have a rank of teams with local clubs like accy stanley, preston and burnley higher up then Chelsea, Newcastle, spurs etc.
