imy9 Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 Kameni is an excellent goalkeeper of real pedigree: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Idriss_Carlos_Kameni you dont play in La Liga for the years he has without being a good keeper, a free is a bargain!

Commondore Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 Kameni is class, if his contract is up there will be more clubs in for him.
LeChuck Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 Kameni and Kuranyi? Now that's more like it! If we could somehow get Kameni on a free and sell Robinson for at least what we paid for him then it would be astute business by Sam. I'm a fan of Robbo's but we've got so many problems that the £3ish million gained by doing would that would be huge to us.
Guest Vinjay606 Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 Is the People link for Kameni one of Nixon's stories?
Gus Gus Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 I expect that there will be a complete squad overhaul for next season. Or I hope so.
nicko Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 Is the People link for Kameni one of Nixon's stories? Yes. There has been an approach to the player, who is a free in the summer. I believe Rovers sent an agent over last week to discuss terms. However it is all down to whether Rovers stay up - and what alternatives the keeper has. Sounds to me like there could be a new number one next season.
John Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 The Bosman transfer market in the Premier League this summer
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 Kameni is a fantastic goalkeeper, a Spanish mate rates him one of the best in the Spanish League.
Blue n White Rover Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 No point in Tugay having a coaching role at our club. Sam rarely uses the midfield so not much Tugay can do with it. Would be good in the reserves though, could teach the youngsters a thing or two.
Tim Southampton Rover Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 The Bosman transfer market in the Premier League this summer I wouldn't mind seeing Danny Murphy in a Rovers shirt. Despite his age, he could probably do a good job in the middle, adding some creativity through the middle and also having the ability to pass the ball

Would be good in the reserves though, could teach the youngsters a thing or two. Thats quite amusing, a midfield consisting of Jay Jay, Nolan, Youri D, etc are all quality central midfield players who like to pass the ball and at Bolton they did well with them. Rovers on the otherhand, would you use the midfield of: Andrews (average midfield player), The Axe (one of the worst Rovers players I have ever seen), Tugay (38 and showing it), Treacy (league one standard), MGP (out of form for three years), Warnock (left back), Dunn (plays 1 in 4), Grella (plays 1 in 5), this has to be one of the worst midfields in the premier league, whose fault is that? Diouf looks quality on the right and is a Sam signing- long may this continue
Amo Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 Tugay has a great affinity with the club, and I'm sure he has a lot to pass on to the younger players. We should be looking to offload: Santa Cruz McCarthy Ooijer Simpson (Loan return) Khizanishvili Gallagher Mokoena Brown Roque is ultimately going to leave, and hopefully we can recover as much cash as possible to boost the coffers. If McCarthy still has question marks over his fitness, then I think we should be moving him on as well. Ooijer might not be leaving after all, but I feel at 35 we might as well free-up his wages and let him go. Sam wants a new right-back, and I don't think he will fancy competing with Nelsen, Samba, and (hopefully) Givet. I rate Zurab, but he's another one we could hopefully get off the wage-bill. Gallagher has probably had his last chance at Rovers, and we should be able to get a couple of million for him. Mokoena's times up. Let him leave with that last shred of dignity. Sam is apparently eyeing a new keeper to compete with Robbo. Brown should be moved on, especially with Bunn waiting in the wings. And if anyone fancies taking a gamble on Andrews for a tidy profit, then bite their hand off, otherwise keep him as a utility player.
BigJackWalker Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 Kameni is a fantastic goalkeeper, a Spanish mate rates him one of the best in the Spanish League. Robinson been fine, why spend money on that when we despratley need a creative midfeilder?
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 A decent keeper and a potential superstar for free? Are you having a laugh?
Tim Southampton Rover Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 I wonder if Big Sam is looking at signing Bolton right back Nicky Hunt who is available on a free. Hunt was a regular under BFS and with right back being our problem position, could he be a potential signing?

Hunt was a regular under BFS and with right back being our problem position, could he be a potential signing? he'd only be back up for emerton, and if he cost nowt it'd save money that could go on strikers and midfielders
Backroom Tom Posted April 12, 2009 Backroom Posted April 12, 2009 Nicko IF we were to stay up and sell RSC do you think Sam would be given a big chunk to spend on a striker or still bargain basement buys? All highly hypothetical of course.
herbergeehh Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 Sounds to me like there could be a new number one next season. That would be shocking. Robinson isn't Sam's signing though. Any idea why? Could you shed any light on the latest Villanueva development? Read some quotes from a Sam interview on tribalfootball, which implies that Villanueva could have a future after all.

You obviously dont watch Bolton Tim, Hunt has been Bolton fans scapegoat, even though hes one from their academy a championship player at best if Sam signs Hunt then Sams credibility will be on the line.
The Rover of Finland Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 Delap seems to be free agent soon. Him and Murphy were top of that list. Kevin Kuranyi could be very bad signing. Somehow difficult to see him scoring without top class passing. That Dzeko fellow seems to became too big name for us. Crouch would please me if RSC leaves. It´s not so sure after this season and will Sparky be at Eastlands for long time?
LeChuck Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 You obviously dont watch Bolton Tim, Hunt has been Bolton fans scapegoat, even though hes one from their academy a championship player at best if Sam signs Hunt then Sams credibility will be on the line. If Ooijer does go to PSV in the summer then Hunt is the sort of player we'll be looking at to replace him. I agree that's it's nowhere near ideal, but when we decided to pay £2 million for a 32 year old we knew this situation would arise further down the line.
RibbleValleyRover Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 I'll be furious if our main priority in terms of investment this summer isn't the midfield, it’s the weakest part of the team by a mile. Without a decent midfield you aren’t going to create chances for the forwards and without a decent midfield you are going to put too much pressure on your back four and keeper. If we don’t solve it we are going to have the same problems all over again next season.

Andrews->bench or championship Tugay->coach Moko->goodbye Grella->treatment room Dunn->treatment room Warnock->left back Givet->centre back Nelsen->bench/sell Bert->right back etc

No room for sentiment in todays Prem.
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted April 13, 2009 Posted April 13, 2009 He's already employed in a coaching capacity I think, he'd just take a bigger coaching role.
