Billy Castell Posted April 15, 2010 Posted April 15, 2010 Get rid, and give Doran or Basturk a go. Then try to sign Ledley in the summer. He may have cheaper wages too.
RibbleValleyRover Posted April 16, 2010 Posted April 16, 2010 Looks like Sam is confident that this 'joker' is going to sign a new deal in the next few days. You've made a big mistake here Sam if this turns out to be true.

You've made a big mistake here Sam if this turns out to be true. I dont think its a mistake - we cant afford to lose players for free who play in our starting 11, and replace them without any funds! Sign him on a 3 year deal - sell him in 12 months - Move on! Whilst he hasnt been the best, he hasnt been the worst either & we cannot afford our transfer budget to be spent on a left winger. Ledley will end up at Everton.

You say Nelsen was a liability in the Everton Preview thread, however, judging by your comments above, it seems as though you don't think Pedersen is a liability? He's done nothing this season to be offered a new deal, and it's been the same in the last 3 years. It's time to get rid!

Because the manager wants to keep him, and if there's one thing Hughesy's good at it's blindly supporting the status quo.

micktheblue Posted April 16, 2010 Posted April 16, 2010 Love him..... his crosses and long throw in's make him indispensible in my view. I think he gives 100%. Like every player we have he has better days than others. He wouldn't be playing for us if he didn't he would have been snapped up long ago. He gets my vote for the next prime minister!
broadsword Posted April 16, 2010 Posted April 16, 2010 I almost thought you were serious there for a second. Phew.
Backroom Tom Posted April 16, 2010 Backroom Posted April 16, 2010 I just think our squad would be worse off for not having him in it, whether we can replace him with better for similar wages I'm not so sure on.
CrazyIvan Posted April 16, 2010 Posted April 16, 2010 I just think our squad would be worse off for not having him in it, whether we can replace him with better for similar wages I'm not so sure on. So do I.

Ledley will end up at Everton. His performance against United was the laziest, half-assed, couldn't give a sh*t performance from a Rovers player I can remember since Per Frandsen. Get shut, and pay the £30k a week to someone who wants to play for us and isn't more interested in his hairstyle and picking up money for nothing. He's an embarrassment at present - he should never play for us again. I just think our squad would be worse off for not having him in it, whether we can replace him with better for similar wages I'm not so sure on. He offers nothing at all. I would rather keep Steven Reid - injury prone or not, at least he doesn't take the p*ss out of paying punters by flouncing around, mincing out of every tackle and lazily getting rid of the ball as quickly as possible. He's a shirker - and a club in our position can't afford to throw money at players like that.
Eddie Posted April 17, 2010 Posted April 17, 2010 MGP has been one of our better players this season. He's fitted into his new role well and plays it better than anyone else we have in our squad. We can't afford to lose that for free and then have to waste our transfer budget replacing it. He's not as effective as he used to be and just isn't scoring the same number of goals, but he's had a bit of a renaissance over the past few months and deserves a new contract (although not a huge pay bump).
Amo Posted April 17, 2010 Posted April 17, 2010 I just think our squad would be worse off for not having him in it, whether we can replace him with better for similar wages I'm not so sure on. By that logic, we shouldn't lose any of our players, because there's no guarantee we'll improve on them. If you were talking about someone on top of his game, I'd see your point - but you're not. His set pieces and long throws are mediocre, but because we play for them it puts an onus on him in the team.

He did well for 5 games when he first moved centrally, but for the first portion of the season he was terrible, and has returned to the same level of mediocrity since, with last Sunday being a new low. It was a great result against Man Utd - because we drew effectively with at best 10-and-a-half players. If Sam and his scouting team cannot find better than him for £30k a week then the mind boggles .... keeping Reid or using Judge would both be better options. People criticise Andrews, and while I don't rate him at least he TRIES - Pedersen just can't be arsed which is far worse in my book. I must have imagined his goals this season in vital games and his assists. Out of interest, the 'vital' goals and assists were ..... ?
Backroom Tom Posted April 17, 2010 Backroom Posted April 17, 2010 Top of my head Wigan and Sunderland goals but theres been more, the fact is you said he offers nothing at all and have been proved wrong I bet if you looked into it he has offered us more in goals and assists this season than anyone but Dunny (How obvious is it that he's now going to have a stinker today after bigging him up)
SergioPeter89 Posted April 17, 2010 Posted April 17, 2010 But when he plays almost every match for us, and also takes every set piece. It would have been awful if he hadnt some assists and goals.
MarkBRFC71 Posted April 17, 2010 Posted April 17, 2010 Awful again today. Please sign elsewhere. Agreed. Surely no-one in their right mind thinks he's worth £30k a week and another 3 years now?!?
gumboots Posted April 17, 2010 Posted April 17, 2010 Agreed. Surely no-one in their right mind thinks he's worth £30k a week and another 3 years now?!? Well, the manager does!
MarkBRFC71 Posted April 17, 2010 Posted April 17, 2010 Well, the manager does! That says it all about the manager really .... he also thinks Keith Andrews is good enough to start games in the Prem, and that 4-4-2 doesn't work even though it got us two goals today.
BRFC1995 Posted April 17, 2010 Posted April 17, 2010 Well, the manager does! what manager in their right mind would sign him.......other than sam. beyond useless, a million miles away from the talent you need at this level. feel more than a little sick that he is more than likely gonna see out his career here. we have the goalie situation pretty sorted(probably not worth the wages he gets though) we have the defence sorted(as long as nelsen does'nt play) we have absoutly nothing to be proud of in midfield and attack(possibly a little harsh on n'zonzi, but thats it) roll on the summer, roll on a clearout. it will not take a lot of money to get better quality than pedersen thats a certainty. rant over.
Backroom DE. Posted April 17, 2010 Backroom Posted April 17, 2010 we have absoutly nothing to be proud of in midfield and attack(possibly a little harsh on n'zonzi, but thats it) Think that's very harsh mate. N'Zonzi has come in and done extremely well considering his age and the league he came from. He's made a huge step up and deserves a lot of praise for the way he's handled himself this season (particularly his facepalm of Lucas). Dunn's a good player when fit, it's tragic that he's been so blighted by injury for so much of his career. Still, i think as a local lad he is something to be proud of. Olsson's been a revelation in midfield this season, very impressed and excited about his future. Kalinic has struggled valiantly up front this season as well, and I genuinely hope he reaches his potential because I think he's got bags of it. The rest have either been mediocre (Diouf, Roberts, Hoilett), poor/injured too often/not used enough or at all (Grella, Reid, Emerton, Di Santo, Basturk), very poor (MGP, other than his brief 4 game renaissaince) or abysmal (Andrews). An influx into our midfield and attack is certainly required. But how long have we been crying out for fresh blood in our midfield now? N'Zonzi's a welcome relief, but we need more. Hopefully Sam will unearth some young gems/golden oldies to strengthen our midfield up a little. Can't see us getting anything else.
Backroom Tom Posted April 17, 2010 Backroom Posted April 17, 2010 I thought he played ok today, not great but offered far more than some on there, his set pieces on the whole were really dangerous and on another day we would have scored from them.
