American Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 Yeah, I was about to say the same thing. He has done well since coming over here especially seeing as he had to adapt quickly. Some people see him as one of the reasons they were strong in the latter stages of the season. He was brilliant the couple of times I saw him - can't believe how short he is, though!

imy9 Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 Surely not us? http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11095_5453623,00.html
Dunnfc Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 It's Sunderland or Zamalek, but i do hope it's us. Mido on fire and with Sam's coaching and man management would be one hell of a player.
tashor Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 Unfortunately, it would be exactly the same with 9/10 quality players that we will ever sign. You're exactly 10% in error there...................
Iceman Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 I would be disappointed with Mido. Zaki is by far a better player
Commondore Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 I'll throw another name into the mix: Paolo Guerrero. I wanted us to go for him when he left Bayern Münich (same as Roque really, a young striker prospect who had a had time getting games with the almost silly competition), and now he has done well for Hamburg and has a contact that ends 2010. Best part is that he seems quite anxious to leave!
Billy Castell Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 I really hope we don't get Mido. Fat, arrogant lazy and frustrating. He'll be another inconsistent sulker like Benni.
Dunnfc Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 I really hope we don't get Mido. Fat, arrogant lazy and frustrating. He'll be another inconsistent sulker like Benni. As someone who's watched Mido for years I have this to say: Yes he's arrogant and frustrating and has had more clubs than Tiger Woods however he's a genuine talent. He's as strong as an ox in the air, physically he's unplayable very much like Davies, he knows where the back of the net is, he's been chassed by sam before. Mido is now 26 and 27 soon so he's young enough for resale value BUT he's at an age now where he needs the right manager and club to look after him and shove an arm round him and coax him into the Mido at Ajax where he was linked to Juventus etc. Your all going to be typical Rovers fans but look past the big Mido with a proper manager and fitness regime we would get him on track, hes good in the air, strong, can finish, young and at least has some fighting spirit unlike some of our squad. For 2 million he's be a bargain it's obviously a gamble but ffs we are brfc what the (Please don't use that word again) you want a rolls royce player lets get a bit serious ehy?
Ricky Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 I'd take Mido as a Derbs replacement for the right money.
Eddie Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 Mido at 2 million is worth the gamble. I wanted him when Hughes wanted him and he still could fill a very big role for a club at this level. Top signing, Mido, potentially Di Santo, Benni and Roberts is a formidable strike force. Still worried that we won't address our midfield problems, which were highlighted again today, we need to start putting the pieces together in the next 10 days.
Backroom DE. Posted July 25, 2009 Backroom Posted July 25, 2009 I'd take Mido at 2M, undoubted talent, and would be a real threat if our backroom staff could get his head screwed on straight. Would still expect another striker, though, and as Eddie just mentioned, we really, really need to address the midfield.
T4E Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 If it's the same Kenny Cooper who was at Man U as a kid the answer is definitely 'no.' Tommy was better. So we're supposed to take your opinion on him then? Just like that?
Amo Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 Well, yeh, because its his opinion In your exuberance to defend Nicko, you have quite clearly missed the point.
mark1875 Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 In your exuberance to defend Nicko, you have quite clearly missed the point. No someone asked for opinions on the player! Nicko gave his opinion on him to answer the person who asked you dont have to take the word of him, it is his opinion, however we do have to accept this as his opinion because that is what it is.

OMG. T4E was making a pun about Nicko's reference to Tommy Cooper: 'Just like that'. The fact I've had to explain that is pretty embarrassing.

MeanGreenMachine Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 In your exuberance to defend Nicko, you have quite clearly missed the point. Im abit slow, been one of those days .
Amo Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 Oh dear chaps......oh dear They'll be calling you subtle next.
blue and whites Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 wasn't nicko talking about coming out with some news tonight?
DeadlyDirk Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 I think he said later, much later, may not even mean tonight.
nicko Posted July 25, 2009 Author Posted July 25, 2009 OK then... Sam has been over watching the Pogster. Obviously going right down the list of alternatives now. I believe it is pretty well advanced because from what I hear both the player and the club have also been spoken to in the last 24 hours. The player didn't score in a pretty dull 0-0er. He is available, but there may something of a surprise in the price you have to pay...but that's another story. I don't think this one is over the line, but I would say that Poggy is now favourite because he is available and may be interested this time. Can't say my heart skips with joy at that news, but there we go. I think one or two other names are being juggled with too, so the next few days may be interesting. For what it's worth I cannot believe Sam would take Mido. A word with his mate Brucie would have ended that interest before it began.
