John Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 Surprised we have not been linked to Benjani yet in this window (not saying I rate him). In the summer, there seemed to be a constant link. Thought it would come up!
Iceman Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 I wonder if Fred Piqimynose at Pompey, is the striker we looking at.
PAFELL Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 got to be Ngog Er please enlighten me, what is that to do with cows backsides and banjo's? There's obviously an interest in Ibricic because Rovers keep going back to look at him....but that position only becomes a necessity if Morten goes now...word from Fenerbahce is that he is still on their list...but he is playing tonight, so perhaps he is in no rush. Unless Sam wants to consider playing Pedersen inside left and not on the wing, like the other night. Or is still unsure if he wants to let him go or not, after all he can be a usefull player - as well as a pain.
EwoodGlory Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 Benjani - Big wages and getting some games Vaughan - Would cost fee Kevin Phillips - A bit small for Sam Some that might fit the description? Bent Cousin Folan Piquionne Scary stuff

ManicRover Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 looks like it's Benjani Soccernet - Benjani interest
Iceman Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 Kalinic and Di Santo, are still young and inexperienced. Roberts, cant score even if there were 2 goal posts with no goalkeeper. And now we linked with Beattie, Benjani and Dindane. Seriously, we need to find a better striker than that.
budha Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 Blackburn, Birmingham and Stoke vying to save Aruna Dindane from crisis club Portsmouth
Guest Kamy100 Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 Signing Benjani would be a HUGE mistake. I am little worried in the medium term, in the last year the vast majority of the players that we have signed are all over 30 (Basturk, Chimbonda, Diouf, Salgado), added to a squad that is already ageing it is going to present problems further down the line.

Was it the FA cup game on the BBC, where they kept mentioning the average age of our squad, saying it was too high?? Can't remmeber, but they were going on about it and sure it was us they were referring to and not Villa.
Guest Kamy100 Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 I think that it was the carling cup where they said that we only have 7 players in the squad under the age of 24.
modes98 Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 We're not getting Robinho... i'll just let you know that now No he's off to Gillingham I think. Im guessing its either Henri Camara, Dindane, Benjani, Mcfadden, Davies or Beattie. It won't be Davies and it won't be McFadden. For what it is worth I again say Victor Moses is a player we should be bidding for, regardless of it we get him. JW and the Board, pull the money out!
Bobby G Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 As soon as nicko's post came, I was sure its Benjani. Id take Beattie over him for sure.
BRFC1995 Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 As soon as nicko's post came, I was sure its Benjani. Id take Beattie over him for sure. i'd sooner have neither.......its like ostenstad/blake and ward days all over again, too many garbage strikers makes you want to play a 4-6-0 formation
tony gale's mic Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 Signing Benjani would be a HUGE mistake. If anything I feel we have a slightly different problem - a fair few ageing players, yes, but also a fair few young players who are still some way from reaching their potential (Hoillet, Di Santo, Kalinic, N'Zonzi, Olsson etc). This is a reflection of our budget - if you want quality players for cheap you either scout them early or get them late on and hope they can still do a job. If we had the players in our team in the kind of form they were at/might be at in their peak, it'd be some side.
RibbleValleyRover Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 As soon as nicko's post came, I was sure its Benjani. Id take Beattie over him for sure. Choice of Benjani or Beattie? Beattie everytime.
Bobby G Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 On a side-note, if Benni THINKS he will get more minutes at West Ham than he did with us, then he is fooling himself Id say. Benjani is one of the worst strikers I have ever seen. Id keep Roberts over him any day too. He looks so awkward on the pitch.
magicalmortensleftpeg Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 On a side-note, if Benni THINKS he will get more minutes at West Ham than he did with us, then he is fooling himself Id say. Agreed. Nouble looked decent for them against Villa and Carlton Cole is back to fitness so Benni's pitch time will be as limited as it was here. Quite frankly i couldnt care less about McCarthy any more. I lost a lot of respect for the man but i still realise how good he was. Im sure he'll be booed if he gets pitch time on Sat. Benjani or Beattie... Dont think there is much in it. Beattie coming back to his boyhood club may well motivate him more then Benjani.
beerwins Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 I would rather have Sam up front than Benjani If we are going to be linked with donkeys of this calibre dont bother signing anyone. Stop letting the money burn a whole in your pocket and save it for summer, no bargains to be had at the moment anyway.
Iceman Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 If we had the money, then we would be able to get better players. Fact is, we dont have money so we have to make do with what we get.
Muddboy Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 Given MGP's recent form, do we give him another contract? I'm fooked if I know...
BRFC1995 Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 Given MGP's recent form, do we give him another contract? I'm fooked if I know... couple of goals in a couple of weeks weighed against 4 years of dross and 6-7m of wasted wages, see yer later mort.
Fylde Coast Fan Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 If we've agreed to make money available for young "investment" players, and the only two bids for Victor Moses are WBA and Forest (and WBA is apparently £1.5m), is he not worth a punt?
beerwins Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 The good thing with Ped is that if fernabache want him they will certainly wait until he is free in the summer, if he scores a few goals and becomes wanted by others they will be forced into buying him now. Maybe he has a new lease of life in the centre of the park ( God knows we need some creativity there) his career is in his own hands.
